I disagree with Subaru Forester SUV being the top, I bought it 2017 as a dream car since I came in this country, even it has not gone to 36000 mile, engine oil gets burns before the due date of oil change both arm bush rubber worn-out, the milage gone down, its a piece of Junk. I do not recommend Subaru Forester to anyone. Please check google for defects of Subaru forestor and you will be surprised.

Let me say, the best SUV for seniors of which I am one, is Mazda, specifically the CX-5. It is a 5 star vehicle. Leading in safety, longevity and durability. The SkyActiv engine that gives you high compression for very good power and also great fuel economy. As a senior my wife and I own two Mazda’s. A 2014 Mazda3 that has 100,000 miles and a 2019 Mazda CX-5 that has 60,000 miles. We have never had a problem with either vehicle. The CX-5 is the signature model, meaning it is fully loaded. It has a turbo charged engine that gives you the power you need to pass another vehicle when needed. Mazda gives you pleasure when driving one. Drive one, you will see how solid they are built. They are built to provide great safety. Zoom Zoom!

A senior definitely doesn't need all these attention distracting gimmicks, like touch screen, USB ports, hundreds of proximity sensors that supposedly warn you before you hit something, but are more like a pain in butt. Give me a 2010 model or even an earlier one that does have all that expensive stuff that I don't need.

My ex has a Hyundai Tucson it needed the engine replaced on warranty but she has to watch for signs of it happening again. Hyundai makes disposable engines.

My VW Golf GTD is nearly 9 years old, never broke down once, and its still going well to day. This golf i brought brand new, 2016 and still looks new . So please don't judge your electric cars yet.

Out of all the excuses you mention you failed mention (especially Jeep) is no matter what the bling, bad ho-hum designing, crap reliability & manufacturer TCR (Technical Cost Reductions, replacing metal parts for plastic & they charge you MORE for it) the astronomical MSRP’s they want ESPECIALLY FROM Stellantis, Ford & GM. Equinox is good car, but I liked the 2.4 litre instead of 1.5 litre engine . Don’t get the sunroof version though, the sunroof is prone to leaking and expensive to fix. Otherwise equinox is good car , just don’t get one with a sunroof

I bought a new 2018 Kona $20k. Has 80k miles. No mechanical problems just oil changes. Have never had to align front end. I think $20k is awesome for a Korean rice cooker.
