This has been the year of the Asian sunscreen for me! So far out of the ones you mentioned I have tried the Klairs, the Purito, and the make:prem. I have a version of the biore sunscreen that is a little different, but you can smell the alcohol the second it comes out of the bottle. I’ve been using it on my body though! I agree with your assessment of each of these texturally, though I have dry skin - I plan on trying the make:prem during the winter to hopefully keep a more hydrated look. The Klairs is just okay for me, and I don’t like how long it takes to be worked in. I’ve ordered a different SPF from purito that Gothamista recently recommended - it’s a mineral spf that she says feels like a chemical filter, so that definitely piqued my interest. I’ll have to try the senka, too. I’ve also fallen in love with the heimish artless glow base, which is marketed as an spf, but I just layer it over my other spf and use it as a primer for makeup. ☺️

It's really individualized on if a person is irritated by the denatured alcohol in sunscreens. However, all fragrance-free sunscreens are relatively low risk for irritation. But I wouldn't say denatured alcohol in sunscreen can't be problematic. It just depends on your tolerance with denatured alcohol.

Lol my nose must not be working because I didn't smell NO alcohol 🤔 wondering what everyone else is taking about in regards to the smell. It barely smells like anything👍 I recieved the 2019 version.
Incredible video. Love that you show what each feels like and the finish. Easy for me to pick and choose without wasting money on trial. Love that you explain which sunscreens’ ingredients protect against which type of rays. I know that the spf doesn’t tell the whole story but this video really does highlight which ones don’t protect against UVA Can you do a part 2 with more sunscreens. I’d love to see Supergoop and Anessa. :)
I’m a esthetician and if you are sensitive skin, redness, rosacea prone please stay away from the make prem gel spf. It is high in fragrance. Also no sunscreen can give you 100% protection at most 90-95%. It is also important to note that the make prem gel is a chemical base sunscreen so that a additional factor to people who are sensitive skin. And if your a individual who has any condition affected by heat stay away from chemical sunscreen

Great review! How do you know what the expiry date is on the Japanese sunscreens? I find there is usually a stamp on the top of Korean ones but not Japanese ones. I tried an app on my phone which converts Japanese into English but found no expiry date when I took a photo of the back of the bottle.
I’m moving to Japan in September so I’ve been trying to research skincare products available over there and I came across this video! Wow! It was so informative. Thank you for putting out such high quality content. I just ordered the Senka product to give it a try 😊
I have been using the Biore Watery Essence and Hada Labo White Gel for a looong time, and I just have to say that the finish is absolutely NOT demi-matte lol. Both of them are very shiny with the Hada Labo being worse and looking like you put highlighter all over your face 😅
THANK YOU! I’ve been using mix of American and Asian skincare also and couldn’t find something to go over my Skinceuticals CE Ferulic which ends up being slightly too emollient on me in summer. The Shiseido Senka sounds like it’s exactly what I need, at less than a quarter of the price of the Skinceuticals chalky, mess ss that I was using!
I have the hado labo and love it except the fact that it irritates my eyes. Can anyone recommend an asian sunscreen that doesn't do that, but applies similarly to the hada labo?
Amazing video. I've learned so much. Can you try the Biore Aqua Rich Gel instead of the essence, please? I've only tried the Gel and don't know the difference and if the ingredients are different too.
Love your reviews! Personally, I believe that the key problem with fragrance is photosensitivity since I have hyperpigmentation and would love it if you could add this element to your future reviews. Thank you! :)
@@LogicvsLuxury Yes, you did more in terms of good/bad smell vs fragrance coming from essential oils that are phototoxic. Just a suggestion since it would be helpful. :)
Great review Joanna... super informative and totally worth the time. Looking forward to a video like this. You are an inspiration to me. Also I live close to New York. It would be fun to bump into you some day and talk about gmat and skin care.😘
I'm not sure, but from various charts of Uvinul A Plus, it seemed like this chemical filter was in fact the one that covers 370-400nm very decently. Because all the others jump significantly down from around 370-380, while Uvinul still more gradually fades with its peak at 356nm or something.
Great video! Thank you soooo much you tried some sunscreens I’m interested in (like the Hada Labo). I’ve never seen anybody try it and I didn’t know what it’d look like applied but now I know! Thanks again!
Thank you for such a detailed video. I've been using Hada Labo UV White Gel. I like it a lot, since it is relatively light feeling on my face and does not irritate my skin. I do find it a little shiny, but it is much better than heavy zinc-based sunscreens in the U.S. I'm hesitant to try Shiseido Senka UV Essence because it contains avobenzone, which stings my eyes. Could you please review some more Asian sunscreens, like Nivea, Kose, Cosrx, etc.
I recently ordered something on YesStyle, after about 2months waiting, I only received half of the products that I ordered and the worst thing was I didn’t get refund. They said I could only get the store credits. Im not going to shop on the site any more.
Stream Caution By Mariah Carey because you can build a sensitivity to it (and other things and have shittier skin) after years of using heavily scented products
really love the purito sunscreens especially the unscented version, its by far the best sunscreen I have ever used. Only downside would be that its not water resistant so I have to use another sunscreen if i go swimming. Hopefully purito would come out with a water resistant version soon
Keep asking them and maybe they will. Purito is a brand that likes to listen to their consumers feedbacks e.g the removal of essential oil in their products
Thank you for such an in depth review!! I live in Florida and it’s summer year round 🌈 I wear 2 sunblocks daily. Some type of chemical sunscreen on my skin then a physical block (usually bb creme) on top. I use babyganics mineral spf 50 spray version on my body, arms, legs, chest. It is very much like a lotion, absorbs easily and leaves no white cast, I’ve even used it on my face many times. I love the biore, puritos 2 sunblocks and shesheido senka 🌈❤️🍭💗
The same thing happened to me with the Purito! I want the unscented version now! Have you tried the mineral version “comfy block”? I am trying to move towards all mineral sunscreens and unscented as well which is a real booger. Thank you so much for your great reviews!!💋💋💋 Oh! And I meant to thank you for upping my SPF game for two years now. I have a little 1/4 teaspoon in my bathroom now thanks to you🤗🤗☀️
i have not tried comfy block! for mineral i think the american formulas aren't bad (like cotz and elta md!)! though i have yet to find the best of the best
I have a cocktail of the Australian Gold (to drying) and the tinted Josie Maran (too oily) for a Goldilocks perfect combo! I have been on the lookout for one that is like this but cheaper and easier. I didn’t love the Cotz but will definitely try the other one. Thanks Jo for all your work and for replying!!!🤗
Loved this review! Super informative and loved all your selections. Definitely want to try the biore aqua and purito sunscreens! I personally really enjoy Krave’s The Beet Shield and Cosrx’s Aloe Sun Cream ☺️
Some new sunscreens that are BOMBS; Japanese: ALLIE Extra UV Gel (water & friction proof!) Korean: BENTON Mineral Sun Cream (superior version of Purito's Comfy Water Sunblock imo) ISNTREE Hyaluronic Acid Perfect Sunblock (very nice texture and hydrating)
Great video! Have you tried the cosrx aloe soothing sunscreen? Is it a good one in terms of protection and absorption. That is another one that is popular n cheap, so I'm considering on purchasing it
Thank you for the video, very informative and very well organized !! I went from Korean to Japanese sunscreen and DID NOT like the Japanese ones !!! I have tried the Bioré Gel one you were talking about and did not like the alcoholic scent (had to stop using it, I now only use it on my body) then switch to the Watery Essence version of the gel one which is better but leaves a very chalky feeling that I don't like. Overall my favorites one are the Make P:rem you were talking about (I have dried skin so I looooove the dewy finish haha) and the Missha Essence Sun Milk. Thank you again for the video !!!
Chemical, i wonder if that means I will have an issue with them since oxybenzone causes little red bumps and irritation on my skin. So is octinoxate the same thing? Im confuseled.
I’m kinda new to skin care and what not. But I’m just wondering if any of these sunscreens can replace a moisturizer. Am I supposed to put on a moisturizer then one of these sunscreens, or is just the sunscreen fine?
Hi to anyone else reading this, Can you please recommend some Japanese or Korean water/sweat resistant sunscreens for outdoor sports like long bike rides and playing tennis? Side note: I have dark skin, 😁
I came across your video and was glad I did. Great and helpful information. I know this is about Asia sunscreens and I've been using Japanese sunscreen for years but would like to recommend the Elta MD UV clear the spf 46. Out of the entire Elta MD this one is the best IMO. Have u tried?
I always enjoy review videos, and this is one is great! The aqua rich it was my first first sunscreen I started to use, loved it. I'm using right now Elta MD 44 but I was so curious about the Klairs and Make P:rem but now I'll skip them for the moment, definitely I'll try the Senka. Thank you for taking the time to review ALL these products.
I have tried Purito, Shiseido Senka and Hada Labo ones. Sadly, although I love the application and finish of the Shiseido sunscreen, it stings my eyes. Same with the Hada Labo sunscreen.
GREAT video 👍🏽 The way you show the finish on your face is perfect for seeing how they end up ACTUALLY looking (products look way more matte on hands than on the face). Also, we have very similar skin types! I have Klairs, Cosrx Aloe and the Biore Aqua Rich but they look too greasy on me. I have high hopes for the Hada Labo which is currently being shipped to me. The best I’ve found by far is the Anessa Perfect UV Milk but I am keen to try the Shiseido Senka Essence after your review 😎
@@sanamoolla1855 it’s funny, but it looks different all the time. It takes a while to dry and when it does it sometimes looks matte and other times dewy. I think it depends on how much I use. Anessa is still the best but I tend to save it for special occasions. Klairs is the one I use the most and I finish with a powder if I want no shine.

Yup! Another commenter, Hanami shared the info with me! Thank you! I had not seen the absorption charts for uvinul but did for tinosorb hence why I mentioned the quick decline after 370nm. That said my takeaway is that you’d prefer to have an spf with both uvinul a and tinosorb s for better all around protection (which iirc all the spfs mentioned with tinosorb also had uvinul but not the other way around).
just rewatched this as i need to get some sunscreens on yesstyle. the biore has been breaking me ou so bad and the high alcohol literally dehydrated my skin to the point of extreme oilyness & red pimples + inflamed skin. i had to wash it off and use a cerave one i bought this week,, idk why that sunscreen is so popular when the formula is shit..? also i think i'll def try the senka thanks to you recommendations!
This is a great video. I subscribed. I do prefer the name of the sunscreen kept on when you have the list of screens on. I screenshot them 😱. I like that it show your actual application as that is the one thing reviewers leave out. So that’s unique. And informative and shows the finish. Is 1/4 tsp enough for face and neck? I’m a guy. I thought it was 1/4 for face and 1/4 for neck ears. I never measured but I think I’m over doing it. Do you reapply on a regular work day? If so how many times or how frequent. I feel like everyone says this is necessary but sometimes it just seems irritating and harder to wash away. Do you tend to use moisturizer under sunscreens?
this is sUCH an informative and full video thank you! i am almost out of all my spf and i am looking for better ones + repurchase the ones i liked on yesstyle so this is so helpful. also the 1/4 teaspoon kitchen thing is so helpful to know the amount lol i do it too
One of the reviews on Amazon.co.uk regarding the Shisheido Senka sunscreen say this : ""Very good BUT no UVA Very good sunscreen, comfortable, cosmetically elegant and it didnt break me out. BUT, it is not UVA protection. UVA gets to the deepest level of the skin, the dermis. This is where the sun protection needs to count, as the dermis holds all the collagen that you want to protect to keep skin young. So overall great, but im not sure non-native speaking people will understand this or know the information anyway! "" I was about to buy the Senka but now that I read this im confused?? doesnt it have UVA protection?
Oh wow. Did not realize that and I use senka almost daily! But I wear 2 spf (I live in Florida) So senka is first layer and then a physical block on top 🍭🍭
@@tirzakatz2747 Ah, alright thanks for clearing that up! i did think it would be weird if it didn't have uva protection, would defeat the whole purpose really
I love your sunscreen reviews - thank you so much for your very informative and helpful content! Could you please consider doing a review of European sunscreens? 🤩
Zinc oxide is slightly better at UVA protection than UVB and it is, by and large, the only truly "broad spectrum" sunscreen ingredient with great coverage of both UVB and UVA. Also as mineral filters, both of them are a lot more stable than the chemical ones and less likely to degrade once you put it on your skin and hence, they're a little bit more forgiving for people who are lazy and don't reapply as often as they should.
I use and love the Hada Labo white gel but have also tried and liked the Shiseido Senka. The only drawback to that one is that it contains avobenzone which photo degrades. (That's why American sunscreens suck!)

But I wouldn't say denatured alcohol in sunscreen can't be problematic. It just depends on your tolerance with denatured alcohol.
I just recieved the Biore Aqua rich watery essence spf50 ++++ today & I'm sooo excited first thing I did was smell it!
I know that the spf doesn’t tell the whole story but this video really does highlight which ones don’t protect against UVA
Can you do a part 2 with more sunscreens. I’d love to see Supergoop and Anessa. :)
As soon as you advised playing at a higher speed, I liked and subbed. I like a gal who keeps it real, some of these vids are soooo lengthy !!!
Anthony Nguyen is there any good sunscreen recommendations you have for those who have redness, sensitive skin, and rosacea?
P. Luna P. Luna purito Comfy water sunblock. If you have sensitive skin/redness I recommend you add a bioflavonoids and beta glucan product into your skincare ( best a serum ).
@@fgostoryteller2168 chemical ones don't leave white casts right? And my face usually gets kinda itchy after I've been in the hot sun or just heat, is using chemical sunscreen okay for me? It doesn't really yet get red or sum
Brendons Forehead chemical one don’t leave cast, but they can cause irritation. If ur getting itchy from the sun you should limit your exposure time . You sound like you would need product that can soothe your skin
Hi I was about to purchase purito over senka but I am really intrigued by shiseido too . I was dry skin but lately I been oily and most products feel sticky.. Can u suggest something for me with good coverage please? Thank
I've only tried the Gel and don't know the difference and if the ingredients are different too.
hi the differnce is that the essence is water proof for up to 80 minutes of swimming and sweating while the gel isnt , hope this helps
Love your reviews! Personally, I believe that the key problem with fragrance is photosensitivity since I have hyperpigmentation and would love it if you could add this element to your future reviews. Thank you! :)
I do mention the fragrances! But my personal rating is definitely less based on that point :) nevertheless my fave of this bunch was fragrance free!
@@LogicvsLuxury Yes, you did more in terms of good/bad smell vs fragrance coming from essential oils that are phototoxic. Just a suggestion since it would be helpful. :)
Great review Joanna... super informative and totally worth the time. I have one request, since you are a management consultant Pls make a video on tips for gmat( on how to prepare, useful material etc).
Yes agree! Made the edit in the info box. See hanami’s earlier comment. Best to have both
Great video!
The Nivea I have used in the past. Similar to aqua rich. Definitely want to try the cosrx!
I recently ordered something on YesStyle, after about 2months waiting, I only received half of the products that I ordered and the worst thing was I didn’t get refund. They said I could only get the store credits. Im not going to shop on the site any more.
wamz LY Oh wow , sorry for you to hear that. I always ordered from there and never took that long and never had missing items
Fragrance should be avoided even if you are not sensitive to them.
why’s that
Stream Caution By Mariah Carey because you can build a sensitivity to it (and other things and have shittier skin) after years of using heavily scented products
I never use to have a fragrance sensitivity but after years of heavy fragrance products I can't use them. I personally think they should be avoided.
@@HH-kv3gv That's probably because Dr. Dray told that lol.
@@nadareyene lol a lost lamb hahahaha
really love the purito sunscreens especially the unscented version, its by far the best sunscreen I have ever used.
The alcohol in the biore essence does not dry out my dry skin. It evaporates very quick and absorbs fast
Thank you for such an in depth review!!
I live in Florida and it’s summer year round 🌈
I wear 2 sunblocks daily.
Oh yea! The cosrx one is a notable gap! Totally forgot about it for this vid!!
Some new sunscreens that are BOMBS;
Japanese:
ALLIE Extra UV Gel (water & friction proof!)
Korean:
BENTON Mineral Sun Cream (superior version of Purito's Comfy Water Sunblock imo)
ISNTREE Hyaluronic Acid Perfect Sunblock (very nice texture and hydrating)
Great video! Have you tried the cosrx aloe soothing sunscreen? Is it a good one in terms of protection and absorption. That is another one that is popular n cheap, so I'm considering on purchasing it
Look at youuuu girl, ya got your own influencer code now!
You are a saint for making this video, thank you!
Thanks for the wonderful video! What do you recommend for waterproof sunscreen for beach vacation? Thanks
My fav is Make P rem sun gel and cosrx snail sun essence. Innisfree Ato Soothing Sun stick is my current love.
Which ones are the best for oily skins?
16:57 It says "Mineral Water detsukutta UV essence" in Japanese for anybody who's curious.
GREAT VIDEO!! Loved the detail explanation of each product!
Thank you x
Chemical, i wonder if that means I will have an issue with them since oxybenzone causes little red bumps and irritation on my skin. So is octinoxate the same thing? Im confuseled.
What is your opinion of Skin Aqua UV Super Moisture Gel SPF50 PA++++?
Thank you in advance if you decide to answer.
I’m kinda new to skin care and what not. But I’m just wondering if any of these sunscreens can replace a moisturizer. Am I supposed to put on a moisturizer then one of these sunscreens, or is just the sunscreen fine?
The biore can make my skin very red if I use it as a primary sunscreen.. not if I use it during the day as reapplication though..
Love it as a top up.
Hi to anyone else reading this, Can you please recommend some Japanese or Korean water/sweat resistant sunscreens for outdoor sports like long bike rides and playing tennis? Side note: I have dark skin, 😁
apparently the biore kids i feature in the vid is water/sweat resistant! reapply often of course when doing physical activity!
@@LogicvsLuxury Oh, ok. I'll grab one from Yesstyle to try. Thanks very much for responding quickly! 🤗😀

What would you recommend for waterproof sunblocks?
The best I’ve found by far is the Anessa Perfect UV Milk but I am keen to try the Shiseido Senka Essence after your review 😎
how was the hada labo? was it also greasy? i was thinking about it
@@sanamoolla1855 it’s funny, but it looks different all the time. It takes a while to dry and when it does it sometimes looks matte and other times dewy. I think it depends on how much I use. Anessa is still the best but I tend to save it for special occasions. Klairs is the one I use the most and I finish with a powder if I want no shine.
@@ecannon9507 damn i just ordered hada labo yesterday should have gone for the anessa perfect 🙄 anyway maybe next time, thanks

So what is your guys' holy grail sunscreen? :3 Mine's EVY Technology SPF 50.
The biore kids is water resistant! 😊
@@sophia-rs6xu The biore kids uv milk? Mine had it marked water-resistant both in japanese and english translation (sticker).
@@sophia-rs6xu water resistance doesn't really mean water proof.. but I agree, as far as water resistance goes it's not the best. but i find it suitable for my needs and it works for me esp when I don't mix it with other products.
@@sophia-rs6xu lol it's a common misconception, even with just water resistance there are levels to it. try finding sunscreen labelled water resistant for 80 mins which I find better for swimming.
I love your video. Which European brand do you recommend for good uva and uvb filters? Can you use a chemical Filter for long sun exposure outside and layer an mineral screen on top top reapplying spf
Just a clarification
Really appreciate the application and 1 minute later clips. It was really helpful. Thank you!
just rewatched this as i need to get some sunscreens on yesstyle. the biore has been breaking me ou so bad and the high alcohol literally dehydrated my skin to the point of extreme oilyness & red pimples + inflamed skin. i had to wash it off and use a cerave one i bought this week,, idk why that sunscreen is so popular when the formula is shit..? also i think i'll def try the senka thanks to you recommendations!
What a great collection! I have tried and loved the one from Dear Klairs Soft Airy 🧡🧡
I just found your channel and I'm addicted! Your content deserves way more views!
Definitely will be trying the Senka UV! What are your thoughts on Anessa UV milk?
have not tried the anessa! it's a different price point for sure so did not consider it with this group
Great video on sunscreens. I got to try some of these
How about krave beet the sun?
Very informative & well done video 👍🏼
Thank you for all your hard work. This was a great video.
have you try the make prem sun fluid? Its the mineral version. Very affordable and super MATTE.
This is my kind of content!
this is sUCH an informative and full video thank you! i am almost out of all my spf and i am looking for better ones + repurchase the ones i liked on yesstyle so this is so helpful. also the 1/4 teaspoon kitchen thing is so helpful to know the amount lol i do it too
The biore Aqua rich one has a good finish but, for me the alcohol was too strong and it burns my eyes. Good for the body though.
I don't get it, how one sunscreen is better than other when both of them have PA++++. I thought PA shows the protection level against UVA.
Is d shiseido sunscreen waterproof????
Yesssa thank you for your review
Cosmetically elegant. Not all Europeans want a watery sunscreen. In my experience, Korean ones still burn and cause freckles.
Thank you so much for your efforts.
Thanks for the informative video😀👍
Hello Joanna, could you please suggest me a sunscreen free from alcohol, fragrance and peel oils which is also comfortable to wear under makeup?
Pls check the full ingredients as I don’t remember off hand but I think the senka meets your needs
@@LogicvsLuxury thank you. ❤
@@chiara3480 Looking at the ingredients, senko does appear to have ethanol (alcohol). I believe the purito unscented should meet your criteria.
@@kale5847 thank you! Having an extremely sensitive skin is so tiring. 😪
One of the reviews on Amazon.co.uk regarding the Shisheido Senka sunscreen say this : ""Very good BUT no UVA
Very good sunscreen, comfortable, cosmetically elegant and it didnt break me out.
I was about to buy the Senka but now that I read this im confused?? doesnt it have UVA protection?
Oh wow. Did not realize that and I use senka almost daily!
But I wear 2 spf (I live in Florida) So senka is first layer and then a physical block on top 🍭🍭
It has Uvinul A Plus, avobenzone, and tinosorb s. All of those filters protect against UVA 1 and UVA 2 rays. You’re fine.

If I ever get my hands on a lot of them I will!
Jo's Logic vs Luxury thank you!
@@LogicvsLuxury you will be surprised how greasy they are :D
Very informative. Thank you!
I am really confused about titanium oxide and zinc oxide are they bad ör good
they are good, are minerals sunscreams.
It also leaves a grayish cast on the skin...
Any thoughts about Cosrx aloe soothing sun cream? Thank you!
Hi Joanna I love your channel. I was wondering if you could also do reviews on European sunscreens (especially the ones containing Mexoyrl SX and XL).
Korean "Make Prem" is shinnier cause Korean people like shinny finish makes the skin looks healthier.
Doesn’t the senka one have a lot of alcohol?
