Don't worry about it, people from all Slavic countries tend to be very protective about what differentiates them from others it's not a means of insulting others, it's simply a common trait. Bulgarians tend to be especially picky about the subject because of the Cyrillic alphabet that we share, as people always assume it is Russian when we, as a people are automatically neglected. :)
