- DIY Mason Bee House! This is a piece of a tree that I turned into a home for mason bees. I used bamboo reeds and siliconed them into the cut out lumber. Supper easy and fun. Ok so a band saw made this possible. I really enjoy helping out the pollinators of our world! Thanks for watching !!

you are so dam creative. love it!
Cool! thanks Steve really I was just trying to see how odd of a project I have to do to get a comment from you. Just messing.... Thanks Steve!
nice job on the bee hive the change made it a $1 million dollar house for a bee. make all the other bees jealous
Interesting idea. Love to see a follow up showing its residents. Keep 'em coming!
I hoping to get some pics if it does work. thanks!
neat project , looks great, very creative
Thanks Mr. Davis!!!
Nice build Mitch, loved how you debarked the stump.
lol yeah it was wet and old so that work well. thanks
Very nice Mitch. Badass on that band saw!
thanks! gotta love the band saw :)
Nice one Mitch!
Country Family thank you!!
very creative Mitch. I love how you take an odd project and make it your own. I also would be interested in seeing if you do get a set Bees in there seeing a picture of it.
lol thanks Opa! I get these mason bees trying to use the small drainage holes on the bottom of my house windows... Thought I would give them a better housing option.
I'd never heard of this type of bee, really interesting. Good to see the router table in action
kinda like a honey bee but no stinger and they don't make honey.
The way you cut the bamboo is the best. This protects the interior of the habitat, of external air currents, and maintains the necessary darkness and humidity. Nice and good job friend!
Thanks Daniel that's great advice I honestly didn't know what I was doing but wanted to help mason bees out a small amount.
great idea! cool look 👍
Gib Clark thanks Gib!
cool build Mitch
thank you
different but most definitely cool....
Thanks Robert
Looks good.
thanks
That looks really cool Mitch! Thanks for sharing brother! 🤘👌
right on man! thanks Heath
Very nice 👍
Bob Lee's Woodshop thank you Bob;)
If you put this out and a bee colony takes it over I would love to see a update video, and I'm sure others would too. Very creative. Thanks for the video.
I agree i'm also curious myself. Thanks for checking it out!
Yes you should post an update video, whether they move in or not.
this part of the "HONEY" to do list..;) very small joke. haha! reminds me of ying and yang
lol I get..! kinda does have a yin yang look. thanks Joe
Killer work - got to love that band saw
Thanks Jimi yeah kinda makes me wanna try a bandsaw box some time.
Cool build
Cheers

Awesome video bro ! :D
Awesome build man!
woodworker 631 631!! thanks :)
Nice idea congratulations! I would like to make it but I do not have the ribbon saw .....
Yeah that is a drawback to this design. I think a jig saw would work however you would have to make it thinner I believe. Thank you!
this is something that i have never seen before bro !! looks very cool for decorating the trees out of my store !!!! the only think that make me wonder is .. if bees like something with the smell of linked oil i don't like to see wasps in it ! LOL great work as always bro !!!
Kostas Annikas Deftereos I think it will be ok I have it outside now. the oil is only on the outer part not on the bamboo. I did it to keep from decay and Carpenter bee from boring in to it. hopefully it doesn't detour the mason bee. in Ohio they are common good bees and love the small holes. thanks!!
Good build, and I got your stickers. What I'm wondering is how you get some mason bees to move in. I saw some on line for sale. I may make one of these just for the fun on it.
cool yes I got yours as well Thank you! I get these mason bee in the spring trying to get in the drainage holes on the bottom outside edge of my windows. Kinda annoying so I put this close to one of the windows to entice them to use it instead hope it works however it has been raining and cold all week.
Cool build! Do the bees just find it or are you introducing them?
2:49 I wish I had that many quick clamps! :)
Dark Horse Woodworking seems to me one can never have enough clamps. ;)
Nice!! Can't wait to see if the Bees like their new home...will be cool to see if any other critters like it too! LOVE Your bandsaw too...what brand is that??
Hey Michael thanks! my bandsaw is a jet 14" with built in riser block 12" cut.
Nice! You Should have told me to just watch the video you posted a year ago about the bandsaw...Lol Sorry I am still catching up on a lot of videos :)
Michael Zurcher lol all good same here
