My favorite video so far, your videography reminds me of Survivorman! I love how you have brought that old tractor up-to-date, and use it like a new one. I'm proud of you son
We had a 52 that worked just fine with the drawbar across the lift arms. Chain the log near the end and lift slightly, enough to get traction and keep the nose down. You will lift more closer to the arms and not damage your top link sensing.
Great vid! New sub! My wife and just bought some raw land and I'm looking at getting an older tractor for land clearing work and so far these old 8n tractors seem to be pretty capable!
Awesome to hear! They can’t do it all, but they are a great first tractor. Very capable if used in the right applications. I subbed as well. Good luck!
These tractors are tough and with patience you can do a lot with them if they run correctly. Convert it to 12v and put an electronic ignition in place of the points
You can pull a lot bigger logs than that with an 8n tractor. the main problems is the fast reverse and having to be out of gear and clutch released to operate the 3pt.
Put the hook on a drawbar and back up to it and lift up my grandpa and I use to haul 12 ft logs out of creek bottom with a 48 8n and later with a 39 9n you can haul some pretty good size logs if you get it closer to the tractor
The potential problem with this setup is while traveling the top or slave pump is being fed shock loads.this can push the rod through the piston, and yes I learned this the hard way.a chain can be rigged from the top link mount to the lift arms with a bit of ingenuity to carry the load when in travel. I have a vid on this but don't want to cross the bounds of decorum on this channel.i just subscribe d,
@@MrJustinWheeler ok that’s the size I was thinking about getting. That’s a sharp 8n by the way. I just got a Ford 801 Powermaster myself. Love the old Fords! Thanks!
Take a small axe clean off that bark. Take a 3lb hammer knock them points in the wood. Lift the boom. Drive away. It's very simple once you done it a million times
Well dont say that. Originally they had an almost exact motor of the model a ford. About 24 hp generally. There was Funk engines though. Farmers needed more hp than the little 4 cylinder They were v6 and v8 conversions. The v6 put out 98 hp! So they most surely had higher hp ratings. Ford didnt like them all too much along with the sherman overdrive. Said they'd ruin the transmissions. They've lasted this long.... Take care!!

Thanks Daddio! Just doing my part to contribute to the YouNiverse.
Love the tractor brother, been looking for one for myself and glad your showing the capabilities of your old girl
Thank you! It’s a lot of work to keep her going, but it is enjoyable work. Good luck finding one!

Nice job with the Ford 8N! Great tractors. We love ours. - Chad
Thanks, Chad! They are great. I’d love to have a couple more one of these days.
Bonus points for the Demolitia!
Thank you sir!
"Owwwww those are sharp what in the hell" 😂
Haha, caught me off guard!
The closer to the tractor you sling the chain , the more you can lift , cranes work the same .
Good feedback. Thanks Rick!

We have a Ford 8n that has been in our family for 3 generations. It's a great machine.

Absolutely beautiful machine!!! Brother, you need a remote microphone pinned to your shirt! I love your channel….but ya need some volume!!😁
Done lots of tractor logging. 👍 . Your doing good. Tongs are much better at lifting , tongs for yarding should hang of the end of the log .
Thanks Kenny!
good looking machine, you earned my sub when you threw that old bitch in gear with no clutch !!!!!! Im Dying, been there done that.
What size log grapple do you have? I’m trying to decide on a good size for my old ford
Man it’s been a long time. Hard to remember, but it’s not a real big one. Probably 18”.

8ns never had 45 hp, more like 25-28hp.

@@davidshipulski4532The model A engine and the N tractor engine were very different
@@redneck400m3 Same engine just the 8N was dumbed down a bit to fit a tractor. Otherwise same engine.
8n is about 20 hp max
Those is the quietest video on RUclips
Sorry about that. Pre-mic days, ya know what I mean?? Thanks for watching!
