I have no preference, but this is neat, apple is something different, so it is better to have serious competition between big companies, than have the very same thing with a different brand name.
Marco Spinaci Alright, well listen to me for a second. Do you know how the computer age as we know it started? With groups of computer geeks coming together and having heated debates of which technologies did what and in which ways it could have or should have been done better. Thats how Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs made the the Apple 1, and thats how Bill Gate and Paul Allen decided to start selling software to the masses. Without heated debate, there is no technology. Without debate we wouldn't be having this conversation right now over the web. Think about that.
Al2leKill Look I study Computer Science and I work with computers every day. I know how everything developed over the years. Sadly, I also know that there are comments which will generate just spam and flames, which I cannot stand. Therefore I prevent these comments. Nothing personal. It's my way of doing things.
3D touch should be standard on every phone. It is the best feature ever and I made the mistake of getting a 5+ instead of a 6S. Only every used the feature once but I have always missed it. And 3D touch is a feature that I can’t live without and no one should have to-
Please rename the video, it's a bit misleading. This doesn't explain HOW it does it, it just explains WHAT it does. This isn't a technical video, it's a demonstration.
It is going to be like the fingerprint scanner first everybody will say it is a gimmick and then all the industry will adopt it and they will find a useful approach to this like Apple pay...
+Robb Stark i remember at the beginning people were like "yeah you can just unlock your phone with your 4 digit password this is slightly faster but just a gimmick"
+Alexei Dratchov I wouldn't buy a phone with a fingerprint scanner still because it doesn't work that great. Both Apple and Android still struggle to get it right everytime, its like face unlock sure it works most of the time but a password works everytime.
Awesome review for the 1st time on a apple product. Not comparing to android or other phones. Just focusing on the iPhone 6s and what new things it comes with.
+Snake EyeZ well... they had these exact features on the s4 but you had to hover the finger above the screen instead of touching hard... also the note series dies the same thig using the pen i belive... anyway... just saying
oh, you mean air view which came out 2yrs ago called air view on the s4??? Actually, Google wallet been out since 2011, which apple calls apple pay today. And Samsung had Samsung wallet back then which they now call Samsung pay. features that apple stole from Samsung 1. Live Photos- Samsung had that feature in 2013 called "sound and shot on the galaxy s4 2. picture in picture- Samsung had that feature in 2012 called "Pop up video" on the note 2 3. split view- Samsung had that feature in 2012 called "multi window" on the galaxy note 2. 4. Apple Pencil- clearly this is a copy of the galaxy note 1 s-pen. just plain pathetic when Samsung supposedly copies apple, Apple users go crazy, but when apple copies Samsung, they say "it doesn't matter, all companies copy each other" well what dumb ass apple users don't know, is that Samsung makes apple chips for their phones, tablets and watches, so without Samsung apple doesn't exist. now thank Samsung for that
Dee Sean "Samsung makes apple chips for their phones, tablets and watches, so without Samsung apple doesn't exist" Omg this is so sad. You act like Samsung is the only manufacture of Apples chips. They are not. The only thing that Samsung gets thanks for is making Apple have better iPhones.
android user ,this must be the first feature ive been very impressed with on iOS. kinda tempted with an apple phone for the first time. especially when android pay is being forgotten in the uk
It just seems like right click but for the iPhone. I like it and its great idea but the only thing that would annoy me is that you have to hold thumb on the screen like for the map pop up example, instead of just opening a new window. What if I wanted to zoom on that map at the same time? It would require me to use both my hands in which I almost never do. What I'm trying to say it works for small things but the obvious rendition of Google Contextual seems great but just allow me to go to an actual app to do it rather some limited version of it.
I'm all about android but this is really sick, the multitasking trick was pretty sweet as well. It's obvious they're moving away from the home button, hopefully next year finally fixes the storage and bezels.
I'm an iphone user and I must say the 16gb base model is a bad joke :/ And the bezzels could be thinner aswell ^^ but 3d touch is actually awesome and more fluent than I expected :)
It's an extra input medium. In other phones you can only tap or hold. With this you can tap, hold, and press. We just have to wait to see how creative developers can get with this. It will obviously be seen in game apps, like an extra button to jump, or power up a weapon...I'm not big on games but I'm excited to see how it will be integrated by 3rd party apps
How do the screen know what pressure u are applying if the screen is not pressure sensitive? Also the pressure thing is kind of fancy, could just be implemented as a press and wait which the old iphone has when u wanna delete app
im pretty sure samsung did 3d touch with the s pen like 3 years ago.. on their note series.. idk if they still do it or not... but on the note 3 i remember pressure sensitive and image peaking and pop ups nd such.. even with their note tablets had it so i dont think apple is first there.. maybe with the use of the finger instead of pen yes but the tech in general.. no.
+undercoverduck Total bullshit, click-Hold does _exactly_ the same thing if you code it. Now if #crApple coded a Music Keyboard with (so called) #3dtouch, that would be useful, but as with ALL #dumbphone BS - this is Worse than having cheaper components and just Fucking Lies :D xx #uCHOOZE www.uCHOOZE.com
+illumicon Maybe you should get more info before trying to sound smart. Or try using a phone. It actually does have 3 default level of sensitives. You can have a normal long press, you can have a medium press, or a hard press. So it is not the same as a click and hold. It is 100% different. You do not hold it down, you apply more pressure and depending on the amount of pressure you apply(which is customizable) different things will happen. It does not do away with long presses, it adds a 3d field to touch screens. You can hold at a medium press, release and it will go away, or press firmer to open it into a new window. A click and hold does not do that. You hold for a second and it applies an action, that is is. This has nothing to do with duration and you are not forced to follow through with the action. Get your facts straight.
the time you force touch a icon you can actually go in app do what you want to do as these days processors and ram are powerfull enough to open an app very quickly
I hope other phones will follow Apple and use this "3D touch" since it is a cool concept. But on the other hand, if the cost on this 3D screen is high I would rather pay less for a phone and use "Long touch".
+Javier Miglino You own a Note 4? I can't tell. In every other post, you've been showing your support for Apple. Also, the feature makes it return in the Note 5 and works damn good..
+Javier Miglino I still honestly doubt the feature didn't work on the note 4. Everyone I know that has the Note 4 is satisfied with it and it's features. It's whatever though. People will do whatever to defend a useless feature.
it can be done in note 3 with s pen open s sketch aap and try it putting pressure you get darker lines with lesser pressure dim colored lines would show up. i think samsung didnt utilitised their technology in better way, or didnt promoted it in a better way

This is a cool concept and I think for a power user it could be a great feature. However, a very large percentage of iPhone users are not tech enthusiasts (aka parents and grandparents). +Gloria Racey The same as before, with a long press. They he's activating all these features is by applying pressure to the screen. +Nawaf Kol A slow connection might be a problem, but I would't say more time and effort. It's just pressing slightly hard, then releasing. Much less 'micro-waiting' as opposed to tapping, waiting for transition, then tapping the back button.

I find most of these things useless (like peek, what takes almost the same time like taping on something and then returning) or can be made just with longer press (like this additional menu on homescreen).
Nope. Long press is a useless joke compare to this. Long press is one level of pressure and is take long to activate. This has over a thousand level pressure detection. Long press do not work in games apps and this does. This intact and has actual sensors on the screen.
+Seized Cheese Yes.. Android long press has more flexibility than iOS long press. Developers can assign ANY function, even those found in force touch, to Android long press so long as it's within reason.
+Seized Cheese I think he means that the interface could simply be designed to work in exactly the same way by replacing a 3d-touch with a long(er) press rather than a force touch. This is completely possible though just software modification. A lot of capacitive surfaces (like touchscreens and touchpads) have also been able to detect a harder touch for quite some time by being able to detect just how much of your finger is on the screen (the more dissipation of skin across the surface, the more capacitive sensors are engaged, thus you must be pressing harder). It doesn't quite work as well, since you might just have fat thumbs or what happens if you use another finger or what if you use it from an angle, but it could be an alternative.
This looks more of a hassle than a convenience.....the peek function is just like the air view function on Samsung phones... Apple has made it compatible with multiple apps rather than just the gallery...
I'm an Android user since ever. I''ll have to admit. This new touch seems pretty nice.
Same here.I must say its pretty impressive.
I have no preference, but this is neat, apple is something different, so it is better to have serious competition between big companies, than have the very same thing with a different brand name.

As an Android user, I admit that this is a nice feature. Nothing that would sell the phone for me, but it's really cool.
+weedwak probably will pop up on droids next year, like finger print sensors it'll be pretty common soon.
+kangaroo69ful It already did, the top version of the Huawei Mate S has Force Touch and was announced a week before the iPhone 6s/6s+ was.
OneAndOnlyEinstein oh right, then the galaxy line will get em next year for sure
+OneAndOnlyEinstein Its nowhere near as functional and well integrated as this. Google needs to implement this in core android asap!
Sandesh Codhadu Yeah Apple integrated it better, but force touch is still pretty cool.
so it's basically a long press.
wow much inovation ... very impressed

He is the only one who said it was consistent. I read, I think it was on mossberg's review, that it seemed to do different things in different apps.
I'm a huge Android fan, but this seems to be just awesome!
Force touch for Images. Was this made for creating and watching GIF's on 9gag. :O
3D Touch looks awesome. I can't wait to get my 6s Plus on Friday.
Samsung should make a Pick&Roll

the note 4 has something similar but you need use the pen, you glance over it and a small preview
the camare the verge uses makes the iphone screen blue.
+Rian Costa are you sure it's the camera?
That's their white balance and color correction.

S6 Edge+ is the phone to have, we'll see if Apple actually does anything for the 7.
why iphone needs 3d touch? becoz the back button is at the top of the screen. it's cumbersome to go into a link then to go back using the back button.
is that different from a long-press?
Nice vid you are a truth RUclipsr BRO
Do glass screen protectors interfere with the 3D touch?
Good question actually ●-● But I think they're too flexible to interfere with that since it's not even a milimeter that you press in :)
I thought this was going to be a technical thing...
+undercoverduck So did I. I don't think Apple would want to release that.

It is. The phone can register the amount of pressure you put on the screen. You can't do that with just software

Does the screen vibrate?
Will that work with tempered glass?
how to use 3d touch, Mossberg review, Patel review what else?
How did you get this phone before its even released??
This year Apple are giving reviewers phones
+Andreas Adekoya thanks for the info
the time you force touch a icon you can actually go in app do what you want to do as these days processors and ram are powerfull enough to open an app very quickly

that's hot, 1 up on android
1 up? Android HAS 1 upped this..Samsung has had these features for years. The difference? Galaxy's don't require press..Just hover above the screen.

open s sketch aap and try it putting pressure you get darker lines
with lesser pressure dim colored lines would show up.

no offence u like ur phone. ok yes its gr8 phone
i just said wat all function the vid showed can be done in this awsome phone many of these funtion can be done with s pen that has a pressure sensor
all i wanted to say that both these company has these technology, they introduce them sooner or later with different ui n functionality

having to keep pressed while the page is loading looks painful without a very fast connection, also the finger covers the content.

+Zefanya Ekklesia it's not about money, in some part of the country the connection is just slow, we have mountains who blocks connections in some places, how ever much you pay it's like that.
+G369 ouu I see
What about that new Taptic Engine?
pretty gimmicky for now, but interesting to see what the jailbreak community comes up with
Or no jail rake and just 3rd party apps. . Not gimmick at all. Gaming market will revolutionize smartphone industry with this.
How do you set it up
This is a cool concept and I think for a power user it could be a great feature. However, a very large percentage of iPhone users are not tech enthusiasts (aka parents and grandparents).
What does a person who is confused do with a piece of technology that is not doing what they think it should? THEY PRESS HARDER! I can imagine this could be very confusing for some users. They could very easily open up menus and jump to different apps unintentionally.
However, the tech and feature is very cool.
+Brien Gerber yeah... i wonder how much of a hit or miss is this feature too...
***** what I was gonna say too

What is the ram gb?
just release that ipad pro review already!!
It's a big iPad. There's your review.
For some reasone my live wallpaper won't move anymore it's like lock and my pictures do and I'm using the iPhone 6s pox help
this isn't HOW it works, this is WHAT it does
is innovative!
Can I still use 3D Touch with a glass screen protector?
You have to press it a little harder
They also didn't include Apply Pay in iMessages.
jumpjet897 it wasn’t available back than with Apple cash
So in other words they just put a pressure display like an old tablet? or a mouse pad?
Yupp and putting a cool name to it
Nope.
How do you rearrange apps
+Gloria Racey The same as before, with a long press. They he's activating all these features is by applying pressure to the screen. The Phone will actually give you a tap to let you know that you've activated it.
With a long press you touch the icon for like 2 seconds without pressure (like normal), and the icons jiggle like before.
+Gloria Racey same as before
8 years later… I have an iPhone 6s as a spare for some reason and it still has 3D Touch
Wouldn't it be just as quick to open the app and select what you want to do that way??
Nice Video
👌👌👌👌
What is the music being used?
whenever i hard press on an app the delete app thing comes up and idk what to do
did this feature is an evolution of long press on android?

i waiting for iphone 7
i bet there will be alot of probs just like touch id with 5s
is it work on iPhone 6
Apple releases the newest phone now with the most advanced feature and I'm sitting here watching this video with my iPhone 4
samsung s7 & note 5 will have fingerprint scanner 2nd gen & new long press feature.Yeah as usual
Mine will vibrate for the erase app thingy how??
I love my iPhone 6s Rose Gold 64gb 😍
*Whats smartphone without selfie right* ? _file explorer file sharing Root_
so how about a long press?!
Someone explain me why their base model is still 16GB. I'm confused.
Is there any way to turn this feature off?
+Vozella why would you?
+Alessandro Bonaiuto because if you have your phone in your bag and there is a lot of pressure on it it can click on random things
+NW Johnson ehm, do you know how multitouch screens actually work?
Also, you would have to unlock it
+NW Johnson ehm, do you know how multitouch screens actually work?
Also, you would have to unlock it
Still not that impressive I was actually getting my hopes up when they said 3D Touch this is useless to me Alessandro Bonaiuto
well i think iphone finally has something that is worth upgrading my 5s
it's about time, don't you think? Samsung on the note series phones has had this for years. Sure takes Apple a long time to catch up
this is the future although it ain't getting attention now..
When you brake your screen. Your wallet is going to be emptied out.
i have an iphone 6s but the stupid 3D touch isnt working what do i do?

so iPhone users need a reason to switch to 6S and this is it? marketing genius! Create a need and milk money from fan boys.
Lol jealouse
Don't worry android will soon have this in all their crappy phones. Your just hating. It this was on a android phone I wonder what will u say then? Your just jealous and haters got to hate. One question tho; WHY You MAD BRO!? Lol haha
Dr.L33
not really
I find most of these things useless (like peek, what takes almost the same time like taping on something and then returning) or can be made just with longer press (like this additional menu on homescreen).
did they just 'invated' the right click ??
Ahh, finally a good iPhone feature, thank god apple understood the meaning of - 'features are important thats why androids sell'
just seems like long pressing. seems pretty pointless when long press does the same.
I have an iPhone 6s Plus why isn’t touch on this?
Watching this on my 6s :)
how we delete an app?
Is it really useful?
Every Apple fanboy's reaction to a new feature on an Android phone XD
I have an iPhone 6, and I dont think that 3D touch is a big WOW.
+Dion Sastra once apps and games get integrated with it, it will be cool. Im considering to buy it after a year
great
I pressed down lightly and it still worked there is no senso
3D Touch is a killer feature Many Android Users switch to iPhone
I'm not an iphone user but that's pretty cool
Can someone tell me why don't I have 3D Touch on my iPhone 6 s plus and how to solve itv
It*
Same thing on my too... Do you find it the problem?
Turn it on firm in settings
Elaborate and adequate explanation.! Loved it.
I'm sure this will all be possible in the regular iPhone 6 with jailbreak
Nope. Long press is a useless joke compare to this. Long press is one level of pressure and is take long to activate. This has over a thousand level pressure detection. Long press do not work in games apps and this does. This intact and has actual sensors on the screen.
Nice gimmick. Most of that stuff can be done by just long-pressing on stuff.
No...
Watch the video.
You can emulate 3d touch but no its not the same
Ya, or just tap the app itself to see the whole thing instead of fancy pressing it to see a little
+Seized Cheese Yes..
Actually it makes browsing and doing stuff a whole lot faster... Speeking from experience ^^
Im not an Apple fanboy(I actually prefer Android) but this is actually genius
iPhone is kind of fun
Is this not working for anyone else? Yes, I have 3D Touch on. Instead of those option things popping up, the option to delete apps comes up.
You have to press harder ●-●
+Magmax215 I have.
You need to calibrate it in settings
Can't wait to see what the jailbreak community will do with 3D touch
