This and all Tone Priest videos are for edu-tainment purposes only. Guitar amplifiers can have lethal voltages in excess of 700 volts. Capacitors can retain a deadly charge even when an amplifier is turned off and unplugged. Videos are not instructional nor do they advocate anyone doing any kind of repairs on their gear. Nobody should do electrical work on anything for any reason ever. Keep your hands and belongings inside the car at all times.

Sylvania is the best, imho. And metal RCA are very good too. Thanks for the review!
To get a fair comparison, you would need to adjust the bias for each pair of tubes you test.
the japanese one on the last ascending distortion chord.... my oh my what a wonderful sound
Push pull 6V6 has always been my personal fav output section, I think I like the metal RCA's best...hard to tell
All output tubes have their own unique charm. It's like trying to choose between blondes, brunettes and red heads - can't be done!
I think I agree though, the metal tubes surprised me how good they sounded. Each set seemed to do something a little better than the others at different things but as a whole I like the metal RCA's and the CBS's. The modern Tung-Sols sounded good but a bit sterile. That may be because they are matched. Sometimes perfect is not better. What really surprised me were the Japans. Lot's of clarity and they were the only tubes not to go all tweedy on the very last note. I will check plate dissipation on the next go round. I'm very curious what those were running at. Rabbit hole definitely gone down!
Not enough difference to warrant changing whatever you currently have. Better to judge in an old stereo amp listing to music in my opinion.
