    I see you guys answered my question in another video. You guys are BRS are really providing one hell of a beneficial service to our community. This is such a complex hobby its great to see your application of the scientific method when so much of our information comes from anecdotal information that is not really sufficient to make major reefing decisions.

    Wow, looks like a huge improvement from their first version.

    Considering how effective these are, it seems they might actually be better suited to freshwater cichlid (etc) setups - where you don't have many plants or any corals (obviously) and just want to export everything you possibly can

    Amazing video! Can you do a video on the best/essential chemicals for reef aquariums?

    The single best piece of gear on my tank. I have a 110g system and a roll last 2-3 months. I feed with a shovel and my nitrates are at 2.

      does your skimmer still pull anything out? My skimmer does nothing since the mat gets almost everything.

    Can we have more information on fish only systems

      rules are pretty much the same... you just have higher nitrate and phosphates than coral systems. there is a catch this all depends on animals and the associated bio load. some organics will break down faster (for example) than others so knowing what you are feeding you buddies matters a lot more than with corals. if you come from freshwater side then you have heads up over the saltwater only people. freshwater systems for mid to high end fish are crazy hard because your methods for nutrient export is really limited.

    I have found that using a roller filter mat that my protein skimmer hardly produces any gunk these days. I've heard from others who have the same experience. Once you have the roller mat....is there any point to the skimmer anymore other an aeration?

    Ryan, will these Theiling Compact Automatic Fleece Rollermats be a good fit for my SCA 150?

      It's been working great for us on our 160 gallon Red Sea tank! Just keep in mind that the max flow rate is 500 GPH.

    Mine never seems to roll its self I have to press the button every few days to get it to roll up. The float valve works if it is manually lifted. Maybe I'm just not letting it get full enough to do the auto roll up but it gets a nasty brown so I roll it up manually when I clean my skimmer cup.

    Would this roller mat be enough as a stand alone filtration for a 30 gallon nuvo ext + 20 gallon sump

    • @BRStv
      @BRStv  3 года назад +1

      Coupled with regular water changes and a lighter bio load, certainly possible.

      for a thirty gallon tank....you would not need any additional filters. If you run it right....you probably don't want to remove much more than the mat is getting...the water needs some nutrients unless you are pure sps.

      This rollermat will only be able to take one drain line, so we'd suggest using the main full siphon drain.

    is it the 1-1/2" threaded x slip union

      You got it! That's the fitting that we typically use to convert this rollermat over to standard US size hard plumbing
