@my amazon guy, re. Search Terms (Generic Keyword), this morning I discovered Amazon has reverted to counting the space as bytes regardless of whether space is considered as a byte or not in technical terms. The error message stopped when the number of characters and spaces came below 251. FYI, I am not using any non-latin complex characters that may be counted as more than 1 byte.
Hi Steven. Thank you for this great content, it's very helpful! I just have a question, how do I find this SEO Search Query in UK seller central? I can't be able to see this in our account, we are already Brand Registered but I guess not all sellers are eligible for this? Love it! A completely new way of looking at Amazon keyword optimization and Amazon SEO ranking. The old ways of how to rank on Amazon has changed. 2022 Amazon keywords research requires a whole new way of thinking for page 1 ranking. Good way to get ahead of the game :D
Hey Steven. You are doing a great job. I wanna add a point where you add a ranking column before keywords and based on your experience and knowledge assigned a number to a keyword. What if a newbie is working on this sheet a have no Idea of assigning a specific number to a Kw. I have a solution to this called Relevancy Column. Relevancy column will give you a number in front of a keyword that means this number of your competitors are ranked on this Keyword. Its very simple and easy to use. Add a column Relevancy next to Search volume and type a formula in cell. Let say our competitors rank column start from S8 and end at Y8 (S8-Y8) The formula for finding relevancy for a keyword in relevancy cell would be =Countif(S8:Y8,"
Thanks for this Steven. I’m working on stage 4 market share. I’ve seen in this video that you’re going off the rank amazons placed for each word and the relevance you believe it has for the age of sage pack for gifts for moms. My question is why wouldn’t you rather aim on targeting the words where you’re getting most sales from higher up in the rank that Amazon’s given? So sort the words according to clicks and then see which ones brought most sales and then have those words all over the listing?
Focus on whatever will gain market share = more sales. Sometimes that means focussing on impressions, clicks, add to carts, or purchase, or ICAP as I call it. Watch this: ruclips.net/video/xDsphG2GsBE/видео.html
Amazon SEO is so important to understand!! Thanks for always sharing your knowledge in keywords and the best tips to rank products. That intro though... haha!
Hi Steven, Thank you very much for your high-value content! I have a question about the backend search terms section: Let's assume that I already have the most relevant keywords by conversion and search volume in the title, bullet points, or description and are already indexed and well-ranked but aren't in the search terms box. Should I also use these main keywords in the search terms box instead of secondary ones (currently using), that don't appear on the visible listing and are much less relevant? I'd like to know if replacing the secondary words with the more powerful ones in the search terms even if they are already on the visible details page, could have a better impact on sales and ranking. Thank you
It was a fun learning as always. I am one of your MAG school students. My concern is why you don't consider Title Density for titles as H-10 keep saying to include the Keywords with high T.D. to boost organic rank
That's fantastic to hear! I'm glad you're finding value in the MAG School content. - Title Density (TD) can be a useful metric in some cases, but it's not the end-all-be-all for optimizing product listings on Amazon. The reason is that Amazon's A9 algorithm, which is responsible for ranking products, takes into account a multitude of factors. These include not just keyword density but also sales velocity, price, availability, reviews, and more. Additionally, stuffing a title with high-density keywords can lead to a poor customer experience if it results in a title that is difficult to read or doesn't accurately represent the product. Amazon has guidelines for titles and may suppress listings that violate these guidelines. Instead, it's better to focus on using relevant, high-volume keywords in your title, bullets, and product description, and to prioritize readability and customer experience over keyword density. In short, while Title Density can be a factor to consider, it's not the only or even the most critical, aspect of optimizing an Amazon listing for organic rank. It's important to take a holistic approach to SEO on Amazon.
should you include common misspelling and plurals/tense of the word IE: choke, choked, choker, chokes, choking, or gift vs present, mom mother mommy ma etc in the back end search terms?
28:56 Two things to point out regarding the search terms section: 1) Either Amazon's 249 byte max or all online byte counters are wrong. Every online byte counter I've used will spit my list of search terms for one listing back to me at 291 bytes, but amazon allows me to submit it successfully at 247 bytes. The online byte counters do add 1 byte per space or comma, but Amazon doesn't...evidenced by the fact that you can add as many commas as you'd like to a 249 byte Amazon search term list and you won't receive the >249 byte error, but add a few extra letters and you do. 2) Characters with diacritics (like the n with the tilde you used in the word nino) will count for 2 bytes rather than 1 - but remain counted as 1 character...on both Amazon and online byte counters. It's the reason your list showed 289 chars but 290 bytes. To my knowledge, the amazon algo doesn't account for the difference between a word like nino with or without the tilde so it's essentially a waste of a byte. Never will a 248 vs 249 byte search terms list make or break a listing but good to know nonetheless!
This is byfar the best and most in depth Amazon SEO optimization and SEO ranking tutorial for Amazon in 2022.❤️ Hopefully, I'll be able to use these keyword tips on how to rank on Amazon. Amazon rank page 1 here I come! Haven't seen anyone else provide such value and transparency. I especially loved your Amazon keywords research. This will definately help with my Amzon keywords research. The Amazon keywords example was also easy to understand and follow. PS: Please don't mind my huge comment, I thought since you put in a lot of effort making this video, I should also make the effort to appreciate it in the same way 😊
Very informative video. Thank you so much for sharing. What do you think about simplifying the manual grading system with Search Volume / Average Rank and ordering based on those values. I tried it and got a fairly similar list as with manual ranking. I had to manually downgrade some of the branded keywords though, but I think this could also be overcome by adding * Ranking Competitors (count) to the formula. So the final formula would be Search Volume / Average Rank * Ranking Competitors (count).
Simplifying the manual grading system with a formula based on Search Volume, Average Rank, and Ranking Competitors count can provide insights into keyword prioritization. Adjusting the formula by including Ranking Competitors count can help identify opportunities with lower competition. Continuously monitor and adjust the results to align with your specific goals and outcomes.
Hey Professor! Gotta say, the best Amazon SEO Guide on the internet! I went ahead and bought the MAG SEO Course after this. A question: Can we put different search terms on each Child listings' backend in case of variations? Should we put the more important terms on our winning child variation with the most sales?
This is awesome guide - question, for each phase, when should I know when to move on? Phase 0 to 1, 1 to 2, 2 to 3, 3 to 4? For phase 1, you said repeat every 2-4 weeks with different key words, for phase 3, you said only start after having 50 keywords between 20-50 rank. Can you clarify on timeline and how often I should repeat?
Hi Steven, I LOVE THE CONTENT! I have been studying SEO from various videos you have made. Thank you for this opportunity! Also, one Short Question: In Phase 2, when we replace with the new keywords on the title, do we only use the exact match keywords? Or Can we make it broad or phrase? Thank you!!!
Thank you! We just dropped a new video on the topic that you might also find helpful. You can check it out here: Advanced Amazon SEO Techniques ruclips.net/video/lrrSZLDa-VA/видео.html
Hi Steven, Thanks for helping me understand SEO so well, just wanted to know if the offer of getting a free video review is till there and how can we grab it ?
I implemented the strategy here starting with phase 3 since my listing had already been up for 7 months and had the appropriate number of words ranked from 20-50. I think I may have misunderstood something since everything went to hell fast. My search volume has dropped by 50%-70%. I see that the title is loaded with exact KWs, but what is the KW density for the bullets and A+ content? I stuffed it everywhere and that did not work. Is there a tutorial on KW density?
I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing a drop in search volume after implementing the strategy. Regarding keyword density in bullets and A+ content, it's important to note that Amazon's algorithm doesn't directly consider keyword density. Instead, it focuses on relevance and customer experience. While it's essential to include relevant keywords in your bullets and A+ content, you should prioritize providing valuable and informative content to potential customers. Stuffed content with excessive keyword usage may negatively impact your listing's readability and user experience, which can lead to lower conversion rates. It's recommended to find a balance between incorporating relevant keywords and maintaining a natural flow of content. Though there isn't a specific tutorial on keyword density, I can provide some general guidelines. Aim to include your most relevant and high-priority keywords in your bullets and A+ content. Focus on writing compelling, persuasive, and informative content that accurately describes your product's features, benefits, and unique selling points. Remember to prioritize readability and ensure that your content is engaging and easy to understand for customers. If you're looking for more guidance on optimizing your listing, I recommend checking out My Amazon Guy's RUclips channel, as he provides in-depth tutorials and strategies on various Amazon selling topics. ruclips.net/video/-Dc-ufvTHVg/видео.html
I have a question Steven - Can I create 4 groups of back end keywords and have them on different child listings? This is so I can get more keywords on the back end "generic keywords". What do you think ?
Yes, you can create 4 groups of backend keywords and assign them to different child listings. This strategy can help you maximize the number of keywords you use in the backend and improve your search rankings. By targeting different sets of generic keywords on each child listing, you can potentially attract a wider range of potential customers and increase your visibility on Amazon. Just make sure to optimize each group of keywords based on the specific product and its relevance to avoid keyword stuffing.
Thanks Steven for providing the best content out there, this is HUGE. One question; how do you interpret when Add to Carts is more than Purchases? There is buyer’s remorse. What areas can we improve?
It's price usually. Or an anxiety. Something is preventing them from physically buying. Need to do research with your consumer. More info at myamazonguy.com/icap
I have a main keyword in an exact single keyword campaign and it's plural form in a campaign with 4 other keywords. The plural form is getting a lot of impressions and clicks and has used up nearly $30 and no sales... The main keyword has a search volume of 150,00 and the plural form has 2500. What's the issue here?
How's Amazon algorithm take singular and plurals of same keyword? Should we have used those singular and plurals separately in both listing optimization and PPC?
The best SEO video ever. Steven! Its been a month my product is launched, Its not ranking at all and not getting good impressions in PPC aswell. Do you suggest to start from phase zero or to apply phase 4 ? Your help much appreciated.
If you're having trouble changing or sticking the alt text in your product photo on Amazon, there could be a few reasons why this is happening. Here are a few things you can try: Clear your cache and cookies - Sometimes, browser cookies and cache can interfere with website functionality. Clearing your cache and cookies can often solve these types of issues. Use a different browser - If clearing your cache and cookies didn't work, try using a different browser to see if the problem persists. Sometimes, certain browsers may not be fully compatible with certain website features. Try a different image file - If the issue persists, try using a different image file for your product photo. Sometimes, image files can become corrupted or have issues that prevent them from being uploaded or edited properly. Contact Amazon support - If none of the above solutions work, you may need to reach out to Amazon support for assistance. They may be able to provide additional troubleshooting steps or help you resolve the issue.
If I complete this course at this time will I be able to give marketplace amazon seo services if I try very well to learn how much this course will help in 2024??
How important is the exact keyword phrase? For example, if trying to capture key phrase "blue sticky pad" in the title, does the following work or do you need it word for word? "Blue thick paper sticky post pad"
Cerebero mines the listing and spits out a large amount of KWs. How about we enter our top 5 (or whatever max it allows) ASINs into Brand Analytics Section. It will give us first hand data directly from Amazon itself. Those keywords will be where our entered ASINs have top 3 CVR share or Click share. Would third party software beat that degree of relevancy ?
What I don't understand is that in this example you cite, you use the full length characters allowable for the title. Yet, Amazon say we will have more success if we keep the title to less than 80, preferably 60. So which is it? Max out the title with premium keywords up to 200 char, or keep it trip to 80 or even 60?
Hey man! Great Video as always. However, how to do Phase 3 when you are creating a new listing and don't have an organic ranking of 20 to 50? Thanks and greatly appreciated the value that you provide!
Thanks for your video, I have a question, when you selected the keywords from the excel sheet , you started fill with search term field, I believe that we need to sort the keywords and we short start with title , bullets, description and search term, please correct me if I'm wrong
Great Amazon SEO video - very comprehensive! I have a question for you: I'm a KDP seller and instead of search term fields, KDP gets 7 backend keywords slots to fill. Do you think we can apply the same method as you and assume that words from the different slots can permutate? E.g. if in slot 1 I have "non fiction" and in slot 2 I have "economics" amazon may index for "non fiction economics"? Appreciate your help!
Why were you working in low sv and low rank kws into your title towards the end of the video? I would add high sv , high rank and highly relevant kws instead.

Let say our competitors rank column start from S8 and end at Y8 (S8-Y8)
The formula for finding relevancy for a keyword in relevancy cell would be =Countif(S8:Y8,"
Relevancy and ranking definitely go hand in hand

Two things to point out regarding the search terms section:
1) Either Amazon's 249 byte max or all online byte counters are wrong. Never will a 248 vs 249 byte search terms list make or break a listing but good to know nonetheless!
1) Amazon's definition is unique
2) Correct

Amazon SEO is so unique. Way different than Google search engines optimization 🔍
Hi Steven,
I LOVE THE CONTENT! I have been studying SEO from various videos you have made. Thank you for this opportunity!
Also, one Short Question:
In Phase 2, when we replace with the new keywords on the title, do we only use the exact match keywords? Or Can we make it broad or phrase?
Thank you!!!
This was the best SEO class!
Thank you! We just dropped a new video on the topic that you might also find helpful. You can check it out here: Advanced Amazon SEO Techniques ruclips.net/video/lrrSZLDa-VA/видео.html

Every SEO keyword you update leads to traffic increases!

Love Berkeley lake so serene

Amazon SEO is so important!!!
Better than paying for Amazon PPC these days. Sign me up for some Amazon SEO keyword optimization!
Super ! thanks brother !
You're welcome 😁
I have a main keyword in an exact single keyword campaign and it's plural form in a campaign with 4 other keywords. The plural form is getting a lot of impressions and clicks and has used up nearly $30 and no sales...
The main keyword has a search volume of 150,00 and the plural form has 2500.
What's the issue here?
Bids are higher on the singular and convert better?
How's Amazon algorithm take singular and plurals of same keyword? Should we have used those singular and plurals separately in both listing optimization and PPC?
No do not use plurals
Dear Sir, could I inquire about the possibility of a discount for the SEO course? Thank you sincerely.
The best SEO video ever. Steven! Its been a month my product is launched, Its not ranking at all and not getting good impressions in PPC aswell. Do you suggest to start from phase zero or to apply phase 4 ? Your help much appreciated.
Phase 1. Up the PPC spend.
Also lower the price
Unable to change/ stick alt text in product photo. It automatically changes to previous one
Pls suggest steps
If you're having trouble changing or sticking the alt text in your product photo on Amazon, there could be a few reasons why this is happening. Here are a few things you can try:
Clear your cache and cookies - Sometimes, browser cookies and cache can interfere with website functionality.
This will help you yes. You'll still need experience. But the best practices can be followed by even beginners.
what a nice video :)
Thank you for visiting and for sharing your feedback!
Great breakdown of Amazon SEO!
Ashtan thanks for stopping by! 👏
Very informative Amazon SEO video I've watched.
Glad it was helpful!
New way to think about Amazon SEO optimization
I had you with the opening SEO joke didn't I? Research Amazon keywords to unlock the mysteries of Seller Central.
How important is the exact keyword phrase? For example, if trying to capture key phrase "blue sticky pad" in the title, does the following work or do you need it word for word?
"Blue thick paper sticky post pad"
Go exact match whenever possible. Can't hit them all of course.
I deeply appreciate it ( Amazing Amazon SEO Content)
Thank you kindly. Hopefully we get the word out!
I feel we need both at this time. Each SEO phase you run through on Amazon has different goals. Maximum ranking benefits at each Amazon SEO phase.
Does having dashes in your title help with Google searches ? And what about having your brand in the Title?
Other than canonical url no
Helpful video thank you!
You're very welcome. Any SEO questions?
What I don't understand is that in this example you cite, you use the full length characters allowable for the title. Yet, Amazon say we will have more success if we keep the title to less than 80, preferably 60. So which is it? Max out the title with premium keywords up to 200 char, or keep it trip to 80 or even 60?
Max it. I assure you
Hey man! Great Video as always. However, how to do Phase 3 when you are creating a new listing and don't have an organic ranking of 20 to 50? Thanks and greatly appreciated the value that you provide!
Start at seo phase 1 if it's a new listing
Thanks for your video, I have a question, when you selected the keywords from the excel sheet , you started fill with search term field, I believe that we need to sort the keywords and we short start with title , bullets, description and search term, please correct me if I'm wrong
In SEO phase 1 they match. In seo phase 2+ you rotate the back end and front end for differing reasons.
Yes absolutely the same methodology works
Why were you working in low sv and low rank kws into your title towards the end of the video? I would add high sv , high rank and highly relevant kws instead.
Awesome job Steve, my amazon account got suspended recently, I tried appealing but I couldn't access my Amazon seller central. Is there a way to contact sellers support? If not, how do I request the money in my Amazon seller's account?
You usually can stil access to file the appeal. Your situation is unusual. You should definitely hire a suspension expert. I'd recommend using our same day coaching with Saban at myamazonguy.com/coaching
