These drums do sound good just as good as a set costing 3 times as much I have heard them all pretty much with wood hoops and these are right there with the high end ones IMO
This is one the best drum sounds that i ever heard on any drum channel. I dont know what you did but you just helped to sell this kit for many people. Also your playing is great and fluid. And i also realised how coated head os toms really giver the warm tone

I dont use tuner or any device, just ears.. allways trying to find the best shell resonance, tuning med-low, bottom head slightly higher on toms, but lower on floors.. no secret tricks :D and then proper mics and mixing, using waves CLA drums plugin for eq and waves chambers for reverb - that adds a lot to final sound..

I still haven’t fallen in love with it 100% I feel like I need to replace the heads, I bought it used and it still has the ones that the previous owner used… and they seem very used they are also single plies and I like double plies like the remo emperor for example. But over all I’ve found that it is a very versatile kit.

Holy crap! ok I have been down the rabbit hole on what drums I was going to get... I think there is no question about this now. Man they sound soooo good and awesome playing! How do you have the two toms mounted? What mics where used? And what pre amps were used when recording. So good.
thank you! I really love the sound and vintage look as well.. the 12 already got attachment, for the 13 I used a gretsch rim mount.. I use beyerdynamic TG D57c for toms and different middle budget kick mics on floor toms.. kick drum has tbone BD500 inside and akg C3000 outside.. I did some eq and compression using waves plugins, the reverb is abbey road chambers.. hope that helps :)
@@thomaswhudson I tune by ears, no tool, no app.. I like lower tunnig, but its just a personal taste, I am sure they would work for higher jazzy tunning as well..

Wow great playing but moreover your setup sounds too good to be true. I ordered this kit and it arrived here in Jerusalem yesterday after nearly 3 months of waiting, I got 22/13/16/18 in black. At the shop everyone was pretty blown away by the sound, out of the box with Chinese made heads. After watching this video I will probably switch to the Evans. Besides the heads and mics do you have any tips to get this sound? Do you do anything particular when tuning the toms? Thanks for the video, I've subscribed🙏🏽
thank you Daniel, you will love them for sure ! I only changed the heads, I like tunning low, with muffled floor toms, I never use tunning watch or bot, its about finding the resonance for each drum.. good luck with that :) and then mixing is important as well, the right compression, eq, reverb and so..
Unlistenable...dead...no resonance...dude, you killed these drums. They are dead. I own this set...PDP Concept 26" bass drum..14 and 16 toms. I am happy to say they don't sound like the ones in this video. Lifeless...stifled...utterly sad sounding.
Just like ice cream, music and everything musical is a matter of personal preference. There are over 1000 certified flavors of ice cream. 'Nuff said on that. If you don't like something, just walk away and keep the snide comments to yourself. What comes out of your mouth says more about you than what you're talking about. This fellow's drumming is stellar, very dynamic, and his personal choice for tuning is fantastic because it allows him to express what he is feeling without the need to hit them hard to get them to speak. He's a craftsman.

The cymbals sound like there far away in the mics? Drums sound warm snare sounds like it has reverb on it
overheads are about 2ft above cymbals, and I used waves abbey road chambers reverb

Do these drums sound good at a medium tuning? I’ve only heard super low and jazz tuning thus far.
I would say yes, since I got them, I used them in a lot of different situations, and they always delivered smooth full warm sound
