    Thank you so much for sharing this!!! Does it matter what age you start? My husky is 4.5 years old, and I'm considering trying to see if he'll be able to learn how to pick up on gluten. (Wheat, Barley and Rye.)

      You should check out my video on creating clarity in scentwork. You see a dog working it’s first session as a puppy and understanding the game very quickly. 4.5 will be fine there are lots of senior dogs competing in scentwork and many professional dogs working to an old age.

    • @FamilyFirstK9
      @FamilyFirstK9  2 года назад

      I have since moved away from these tubes. If you will watch creating a scentwork champion episode 3 you will see what we switched over to. With these you can work by yourself much easier and we will do a demo on the membership section.

    If the dog is struggling to grasp the game do you recommend taking a step back, removing the tube and holding the canister (tin) and indicating at the source as the dog indicates on the canister (tin) instead?

    • @FamilyFirstK9
      @FamilyFirstK9  3 года назад +1

      If you take a look at my bsd food reward system it would work perfect in your case. The odor is still contained in the bottom of the base and food can be placed on top of the odor. In the next couple weeks I’ll have a video showing a dog start on them. With just the bases or the modified bases if a dog is struggling I start with just two one with odor one without and the first several reps food is placed on top of the base, the dog drives in and then click and reward when he takes the food.

    • @brettkrajewski4693
      @brettkrajewski4693 3 года назад

      @@FamilyFirstK9 I did something similar today working a couple dogs. A golden with lower drive that wasn’t really “getting the game”. Once I took the top pipe off/ pair it with the food on top it seemed to respond better. After it keeps driving in I’ll remove the food and reward at source. Looking forward to seeing the video uploaded. Appreciate all the help!

    Hi good day sir what odor you use or can i make odor

    • @FamilyFirstK9
      @FamilyFirstK9  4 года назад +1

      Depends on the dog. If they are a sport dog I start them off on birch since it's the first odor they will see in competition. If it is a professional detection dog then I typically start on marijuana.

    Consider wearing a mic while making your videos. It's really hard to hear you without turning up volume all the way. Your intro music then is blasting. Good video and great information otherwise. Thanks!
