Things have been tough of late for the All Blacks and what do we have next? Oh, its only the toughest test for any All Blacks Squad. Playing South Africa in South Africa. The Old Foe.
In this video, I outline a few of my favourite games between these great old foes - the Springboks and the All Blacks.

South African here, and I'm nervous AF! The problem we have is that we get over-confident and a bit cocky. It happened to our teams at the beginning of the URC, and it also happened to the Boks against the Lions and England in 2021, and then Wales. I hope our squad doesn't underestimate the ABs because of Ireland. There's no such thing as a weak AB team.

Pretty much exactly, word for word what I was going to write. Nervous AF.
The ABs will be hurting and fired up to take on the old foe - they always step up for games against us as we do them. We are struggling to find our stride after Rassie gave Nienaber the steering wheel and badly need an attack coach to bring an edge to the blunt force trauma approach we've used since the WC. Can be sure it is going to be a spectacle though.

I don't think SA is overconfident and cocky. I think more the fans... even with that, I think we are measured. Now, the NZ pundits are the ones that are overestimating the Boks, i think strategically so, so when they lose they can easily say they saw it coming. But, if they win, they'll be the underdogs who overcame their series loss to Ireland

It is a pitty that the Australian Rugby Board and many players did not want South Africa in the tri nations or Super Rugby. I agree mate, can't bloody wait. To me It's got that feel out about it heading in like back in the 90s where we can no longer expect NZ to win. People i'm speaking to here in NZ are generally not expecting us to win - that is not such a common thing here!

@@JimChap If the ABs can front up they stand a really good chance of winning. They're also desperate and wounded and that makes them dangerous. It's the Lowveld, so no altitude issues. The Boks also tend to screw up at least one aspect in every game, whether it be kicking, the aerial battle or whatever 😒 I'm not calling this one. Could really go either way!

Great scripting Bro. Couldn't agree more about the 95 final. The previous weekend we had watched in delight as the ABs played as a team and everyone passed the ball to Jonah who didn't disappoint. In contrast when we switched the telly on for the live final I had this terribly flat feeling which subsided even more when we saw Mandela wearing the Bok no 6 jersey. It just wasn't to be. The fairytale was always SA's. To be fair the following year the All Blacks beat the SA 4-1 in tests which helped to remove a lot of the disappointment of 95. But hey its not every test Clint Eastwood makes a movie about.

From a South African lifelong bok supporter that was quite a special well thought out true and honest assessment and reminiscing session. Aaah, the good ol days of those titanic confrontations in the mid nineties in which the two enduring titans of this great sport came together to shake the world. I love the rivalry and have nothing but respect and admiration for the All blacks. Without the ALL BLACKS, the BOKS wouldn’t be where they are and vice versa I think. I am an All Blacks fan and I wish the All Blacks well but to be brutally honest I have to give the first test win to the Springboks and maybe even the second one too. Can I just say RSA I don't think will completely change their game style in any big way for the future because as much as it is so familiar as is ABs fast paced running and quick handling style, it is what makes our game so special. Our guys grow up on rough turf, eating heavily laden meats and spices, and packing on the nutrition to beat the pulp out of any All Black they can lay their hands on, in a fun loving rugby way of course, so to expect them to change that is nigh on impossible. Our heavy set pieces and grinding make our style what has become a style to remember. All Blacks are always the greatest for we love to beat and don't always end up beating. But in recent years with so many of our games being won by only two points one way then the other, it actually makes a lot of sense since Blacks v Boks are almost evenly matched going head-to-head.
Anyways, the greatest rivalry and respect Rugby of this age has got. Keep it coming.
