Just ordered a pair, was only 6 left. The rechargeable functionality is worth it. I love my Kiwis but I hated having to pull batteries out to charge. As for the dock that would be nice but since I use my Q2 for PCVR mainly and with the link cable I have my Quest2 doesn't need charging really ever so this was an easy sell for me. (For anyone wondering about the link cable I use it is the Kuject Designs powered link cable. Keeps my quest2 roughly at 80% charge while in use.)
I got them in today, honestly I like the way they fit my hands better than the Kiwi Grips and absolutely love the charge cable. Definitely a great alternative to the Kiwi Grips, especially at the price. Thanks for the awesome review as always! Oh and thanks for the Discount code!!
Engineer here. The lower voltage battery may lead to issues down the road. Specifically in sensitive equipment low voltage causes an increase in current draw and could damage the electronics down the road. Probably not a big deal here but definitely a concern if worried about longjevity
After watching your videos I have decided to purchase Meta Quest 2 256GB Bobovr M2 pro plus Bobovr F2 KKCOBVR i2 Soundcore VR P10 and now these rechargeable grips. My daughter is going to love all this.
Hey Jay, just wanted to say I'm really enjoying your videos and podcast. Specifically, I appreciate the fact the fact that you're willing to NOT recommend stuff. VR RUclipsrs are generally horrible and just hype everything. I think there's definitely a place for enthusiasts who are honest, credible, and unabashedly pro-consumer. Anyway, I ordered the next to last set of these (white) grips that Amazon listed in stock & used your code. I've wanted some Kiwis for a while, but I trusted you on this one and also wanted to support the channel. Keep doing good & fun things on RUclips!
DK that means so much to me that you say that and I'm glad we found you some grips! I actually get NOTHING from these codes and I NEVER accept payment for reviews which makes it easy to just speak my mind and not get caught up in all that nonsense. It's nice when they offer a discount code for our followers but it doesn't affect me either way if it gets used :)
i agree 100% with what you said, and actually not a bad idea with the magnetic charger plugs, i might buy some and test how it works with them. my 1 hope is that you can buy batteries seperately and that they might have some bigger versions at a later date

Appreciate these vids. Trying to stay educated and it helps people I play with because I can always throw them your way or explain to them pros and cons.
I'd love to hear how you like them Jeff! Nat tried them and with her hands being a bit smaller she thought they were awesome! She's been using the Kiwi's all along too which she liked but the contour on these feels right.
ThankQ Jay. Your videos are always very helpful. I bought the BoboVR head strap with magnetic rechargeable battery's after watching your video about it and it has taken my VR experience to the next level. These grips look great and will hopefully put a stop to my son throwing the controllers around the room! (he never puts the wrist straps on unless I notice and make him do it) I am going to buy these and I'll use your affiliate link to give you a few $. You are my go-to for any VR reviews so keep up the good work!
You had me at the sword. Great analysis and looks like exactly what I need. Just placed my order with your link. To solve the USB-C problem, I'm getting magnetic adapters. Not sure if that will work, but I'll use them elsewhere if not. Thanks for the video!
While I like the Kiwi grips, I mostly play Beat Saber and have found that the grips are very heavy for playing Beat Saber at high levels. Not only the weight but the length of them makes using claw grip more difficult. Aaand there's the issue with the floppy draw tab that slaps around while Beat Sabering. Really not the best grips for Beat Saber players, unfortunately. I have had to take mine off in order to really play harder songs. Previously I had the older / shorter Kiwi grips - they were lighter and smaller so worked a bit better but the velcro on them wore out really fast and the straps basically stopped holding together. Alas, I now use no grips (unless I decide to play something other than Beat Saber for a while).
That's really helpful information! We received the kiwi grips a few days ago and likewise have found them too heavy for high levels of Beat Saber. Have you ever tried grips that don't make the controllers longer such as the AMVR ones? We sometimes lose hold of the controllers, so I would like to find some kind of knuckle straps if possible...
Just getting back to you. Been using these for a week now and am pleasantly surprised with them. They feel really nice to grip. First thing that threw me was when I charged to controllers up they would only show 90%. After reaching out to the company I found these have Ni-MH batteries which work differently and do not hold their charge as well however the discharge rate drops slightly as the charge drops (e.g. discharges slower as it gets lower in charge). This is normal and as they said just go by the solid red charging light when they are fully charged. Just something to be aware of. They also plan to offer additional batteries within a month. Really good quality parts so far. Definitely similar to the quality of the Kiwi ones I had been using. Really like plugging in to charge without having to remove the batteries every time. Also got a neat trick. On the bottom when you tighten the knuckle strap I was able to fold the end over the bottom of these grips therefore stopping them from flapping about. Was not able to do this with my Kiwi's so I think I will keeping these and trying to pick up some extra batteries when they decide to release them. Thanks again for the recommendation.
Bc of this video, I got myself the aubika grip and omg it's amazing. Made my last grip look like a toy lmfao. Keep up with the review brother. Also I notice your usbc charging cable is a little different from mine. Mine came with a 3 in 1 and yours look like a 2 in 1 usba to usbc . I might be wrong.
We have just bought the Kiwi grips and have been trying them for a few days now. We have found that the extra weight is actually a problem for the faster levels of Beat Saber where you need to flick the controllers really quickly (particularly for family members with smaller hands). Would you recommend that we consider these Aubika grips or should we instead go with something that adds very little weight and no additional length such as the AMVR grips?
I have my kiwi grips for a few months. I love them, but it is a pain to change the batteries. They are more or less easy to come out of the controller, but putting them in is sometimes hard. Luckily I don't need to swap them so often as with the Quest1. If I had to choose now, maybe I would have gone for the Aubika grips. Hopefully these kind of grips will come out for the Pico4 as well. I just got my Pico4 and I haven't add any thirdparty thingies on them....😁
Got the Hounyoln grips and honestly they're pretty impressive and they're only $15. They still allow you to use the dock chargers for the pro controllers it's pretty awesome. Only complaint is that the velcro strap should be a little longer so I'm able to tighten the straps more than I currently can.
Ooohhh a new company emerge and challenge Kiwi and bobovr in the 3rd party Quest market. Nice! They look very nice but since I just bought the long Kiwi grip 2 months ago, I’ll stick with them for now but it sure is nice seeing good accessories with good review!
Just wanted to let you know that you convinced me to get a set of these (my rechargeable batteries for my currently controllers were getting worse and worse). I reached out to the company about replacement batteries and they say they plan to sell the batteries separately (my biggest concern). Thanks again for your videos.
I'm so happy to hear that Austin! When you get them I'd love to hear your thoughts. I'm getting a second set in white myself just to replace my other kiwis!
@@jaybratt I am staying away from white as good as they look I do sweat quite easily and they would look grubby in no time so tli thought the black was a better choice (using the black Kiwis at the moment).
Hmm jay i need your help with this. I have the kiwi short grips do you think i should buy rechargeable batteries or the aubikas that you reviewed here?
I was never in love with the short kiwi's personally. They just didn't feel as quality as the Top Version that came later. Me, I'd just spring for these new grips. At $30 you get the grips plus batteries which I think is very worth it.
0:28 Finally! I totally missed that with the Quest Pro footage... Weirdly enough the Aubikas are more expensive than the Kiwis (if anyone saw my first comment on them being more than twice the price, that was for the simple ones I saw for around 20, the ones Jay uses/used are 40 and the Aubikas are 50)
Can you please do a battery test for that one? I bought mine but notice that my charging time is around 3 hrs aprox even though on their website it says 6 hrs. Mine also only lasts around 10 hrs or more playing time in intense games.
I need to save up for the amvr grip dock. I have the version before they changed it for grips and I had to trim down the cheap ones that go onto the tracking ring that are currently falling apart lol. Gotta love duck tape!
I've had the Kiwi long grips since the day after I got my Quest 2. Just last night I pulled them off to test the feel without them. Even though I have larger than average hands I was thinking it would be nice to have a little thinner grip. Might have to see if Santa agrees.
I was hoping these had lithium batteries. Lithium rechargables are 1.5 volt. I'm sure they would cost more. Maybe it's something Aubika isn't in a position to do, or maybe they just chose nickel metal hydride to hit that lower price.
I still use those on my PC headset! I love the Kiwi's but for really fast Beat Saber the weight savings of the AMVR was nice on my wrists and shoulders.
Thanks for the review. I'm still torn between getting the kiwi or the Aubika. I had the Kiwi pro version (the shorter grip) and had to return them because they were uncomfortable for my big hands. I would appreciate any update for which one to go for. Did you have any issues with the batteries on the Aubika? Thanks in advance.
I tried the Kiwi's and hd to return them, I found they were too bulky. I had to adjust my grip to reach some of the buttons. These look thinner, hopefully they'll be a better fit for me than the Kiwi's

I got these for Xmas, I’m not sure they feel right for me, the upper part of the strap makes my hand feel slightly lower, makes getting to buttons a little awkward but I’m really not sure if this is all placebo… anyone else compared these to just a simple pair VR Cover straps?
I've had the VR cover straps too. With these try not tightening down the hand straps quite so much. It doesn't have to be super tight to stay on. See if that allows you to reach better. If not you could swap them for some vrcover or amvr hand straps amzn.to/3YV1VIU Because those don't lengthen the controller you'll still have the usual access to buttons you did before.

The grippiest grips you'll ever grip!
@@jaybratt you made now sound like something they would legit say in some ad that plays on tv😂😂😂
Personally I think the amvr charging dock grips are best because you don’t have to take anything off them to get them charging
2:44, these don't require removing anything.
@@Assassin32VR yes but you don’t need to plug them in
aubika ones were AMAZING but broke incredibly fast, strings snapped
Sad!!! I still use mine! Aubika told me if anyone had issues they'd replace them. Did you ever try reaching out to them?

@@jaybratt i agree but how ive seen you testing an IR night mini projector how it should be tested. And now like the tests were not hard enough
@@SarkasticProjects we used the ir camera to test the ir tracking. Talked about the comfort, durability, tested them in games and went over the charging function along with battery size and voltage. Maybe I'm misunderstanding but was there more tests you were hoping to see?
@@jaybratt maybe i am comparing two different reviews of totally different products. I am expert BeatSaber without straps and i missed the tests :) the Quest Pro Antireview just took my head
