Acting is high level. Shots are theatrical level. Snow setting is very welcomed. My main critique is way too abrupt with the end. It really needed another 5 or so minutes after the last kill, not because I wanted more, but it really needed to establish this is a continuing story. The way it ends makes it feel incomplete structurally.

@@Sheriffwoodie860 Exactly. We waste a good 5 minutes or more with the sheriff visiting the mother and then there is no resolution whatsoever. Granted, if it's going to pick up right where it left off in the next installment I can forgive this. It's just that NHA had a beginning, middle, and end. This one just ends abruptly with so many questions unanswered.
I didn’t have a problem that it was short just felt like there was no ending to it structurally but still enjoyed it overall great kills

I was sold at the first kill. Holy guacamole, Batman.
The only criticisms I have with it is the ending felt kind of rushed and some of the night scenes were difficult to see. Other than those two criticisms, this was a solid short film.
This was a lot of fun to close out my Tuesday! The practical effects, especially that first kill, dropped my jaw because you just don't expect to see something that good in a fan film. I love the Jason Lives connections, having Deputy Rick be the new Sheriff after losing Garris. Loved the 'red dot' call back. The scenes in the daylight, which doesn't happen often (though part 6 did do it) just brings something different to it. Seeing him in brightness whether it be in the sun or in the sun against the white of snow...its jarring. Really, really enjoyed this and I can't wait for the next three. Jason's my favorite franchise so its nice to see it get some TLC from people who love it just as much.
Just watched it. I actually jumped a bit. Surprised by that. The effects were outstanding for a fan film.

The only problems I had was that it just felt anticlimactic and there wasn't enough screen time to get attached to the new characters. 8/10
While I understand that, once all of the individual films are done, watching them in chronological order is going to be legitimately epic. Feeling the ending of this transitioning into NHA feels very natural, and seeing the story start to connect and flesh out is awesome. I can’t wait for it all to be done.

Its the first episode of 5 vincent is making. He decided tobreak it into 5 sections instead of making a whole film. Your gonna see the characters return and the story continue
I get your point but this is a web series with this being the prequel. So I think Vince didn't wanna blow his stack and put everything in this episode, this episode will set up whts to come. Now I will say that time will be an issue being that with a series like this he's going to have to put out one every year maybe less . P.S other then the remake I don't think Jason has ever used a bow and arrow, i can't think of a movie from parts 2-11 ,

It's RUclips, they are more willing to allow violence than sex, so no T&A, it's understandable. Don't want their channel to get in trouble with Susan. And I watched this earlier, a few minutes after it was posted, RUclips recommended it to me on my next video, they must have known I was waiting for it. Needless to say, I freaking loved it, and pleased to hear there will be more. 👍😀
"Never Hike in the Snow" makes for a good prolog for Never Hike Alone.
Great winter atmosphere, great couple of kills, and I like how Thom Mathews came back to give us Tommy Jarvis.
While it may not be on the same level as say, Jamie Lee Curtis returning for Halloween, it does leave an impact for fans of this franchise. Though I still would've liked this to be longer.

I thought it was really good, but way too short. I know I shouldn't expect feature-length from a fan film, but damn, this movie left me wanting more. Thankfully, I know more is on the way.
Length aside, I really don't have any other complaints about the film at all. The atmosphere, gore, music, etc. were all spot on. As a longtime Friday the 13th fanatic, Womp Stomp still has my vote.
Please get the legal issues fixed with this franchise...... then give Vince 5 million dollars and let’s get this franchise back in the limelight!
5 mil will probably only get us a 40 minute film with 2 kills If Vince is running it. I wonder where all the backer money went
I don't really understand how this is a prequel. Tommy didn't seem like he came prepared to fight Jason in Never Hike Alone. If this is a prequel then Tommy should have known Jason was out in those woods when he drove the ambulance; thus he should have brought weapons. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
I had the same thought but I'm pretty sure there will be explanation for that. I didnt want to get too specific on plot being it's only 30 minutes.
Tommy tried to storm the fort and someone else ended up getting killed. Tommy begins hiding his intentions a little better in the future so he doesn't get anyone else involved.

@@WompStompFilms Thanks for taking the time to respond, I really appreciate it. I still don't fully understand though. In part 6 Tommy was hell-bent on killing Jason. In Never Hike Alone, if he knew Jason was back, even if he was trying to be low-key, I'd think he'd still have a pistol with him or something. Also, he still gets more people involved and killed anyway. I hope the following installments of the series do a good job of explaining this. That being said, I still think you're doing excellent work, on par with or better than some of the canon films in the series. Keep up the good work.

The way it was paced made it feel like an hour. Smart. Love it. It was gnarly and caught me off guard. Looking forward to the next ones ❤️
My favorite of the film is the transition scene when he see his mother, she takes off his hockey mask and we see him as a young boy, very happy to see his mother. Yes, I wanted more after the film ended but I believe Vincent did that on purpose because he knows we all want more.
When it ended I said WTF out loud lol. Great film! I wish it were longer, but I'm going to support the upcoming films no matter what. I'm glad I was able to snag a copy of the blu-ray.

I just seen this and I LOVE it. Love the fact that Tommy Jarvis is returning AND Rick from Jason Lives, the one deputy that survived.
Jason in a snow setting was beautiful cinematography - it looked amazing! And that first kill was EPIC. So glad Vincente is giving us these films, big props to him.🙏🏻
Just came here from the premiere and was disappointed to see people hating on it because of the runtime. Womp Stomp have said since day 1 that it was going to be short, and some people just don’t understand either budgets or quality filmmaking.

You probably never seen someone hating on a movie LOL, I think it’s more of a criticism that can be addressed in a movie review & it’s comments. You want the filmmakers to know what your positive & negative takeaways from this movie are,especially with it being a fan film, & knowing there’s more to come.
@@dertodesking8379 except it wasn’t just people saying ‘this is too short.’ I totally understand that as a valid criticism of something, but certain people at the premiere were just being toxic because of it. It’s like Cody said, the fact that it’s only 25 minutes leave you wanting more, but these people were just calling the film a piece of trash just because it didn’t meet their expectations regarding runtime. I get it if you just want to say ‘this is too short, I want to see more’ because that is genuine criticism, but I don’t get being unnecessarily toxic for no reason

seriously this one is amazing! I really love never hike alone (thanks to you for this) but , even if it's shorter, i enjoy every second of this one! Maybe it's only because of the snow but, damn!

Just watched it. OMFG!...My only complaint. At the end...Ahhhh shittttt..... That was it? I wanted so much more!!!! LOL. You got SO FUCKING INTO THE STORY. I mean it GOT you in the nads when the movie stopped. Very very good damn job guys!!! (Also not gonna lie, Fucking awesome to see your own real name in the fan credits! heh.)
I love that they brought back the laser sight gag from part 6!
Only issue is the abrupt ending but then when you’re serializing for that indiegogo cash you got to keep them clambering for more.
The GAG?! I love they brought back the deputy turned sheriff. He isn't quite living up to his predecessor's legacy (ie tackling Jason and trying to kill him with a big rock because his little girl was in danger), is he?

These fan films are nice but they need to get their legal shit straightened out and make a solid sequel to Jason lives or New Blood. Anything pre-Manhattan ...but involve Tommy and give it lots of substance and backstory.

Already ordered the blu ray and VHS copy. I liked never hike alone better mostly because the character of Kyle was amazing. I want to see this one again when they're all out, I bet its going to be beyond amazing when you watch the whole series together.

This was a great fan film and its also awesome that the Friday The 13th box set came out recently. My only gripe is some night scenes are way too dark but overall its really good.

So never hike ever. This was way better than the first Never Hike Alone.
Howso? NHA at least had a beginning, middle, and end. This one just ends out of nowhere right as we start to get some build up and tension. I mean, I did like it and think it was really good, but NHA was awesome.
There's also an extended version.
Just one question, why does Jason’s cabin look different between never hike in the snow and never hike alone?

I hope theyre next movie is gonna be never Hitch hike alone where a group is on the road with theyre van on the road without fuel they hitch hike and while on the road the driver sees a figure in the foggy back roads (jason) he swurves and crashes into a tree dead then the whole thing of killin.
I’m beginning to think Jason and tommy is like what Halloween films are doing with Michael Myers and Jamie lee Curtis aka Laurie strode

Two great kills but like Cody says it wasn't long enough we need more because these are amazing, Vincent your a scary Jason & great writer/director how about you give Cody a cameo in the next one

I was surprised it was under 30 mins but if there's going to be other "mini chapters" it makes sense.
I think that its a step up from Never hike alone if we look at the special effects, the music and the cinematography. I thought the actor portraying the sheriff was not that good, but aside from him the rest of the cast was pretty good. Man was I bummed out when the credit started rolling. I would like to be able to binge all those films right now.

It was good but extremely short. Just didn’t really feel like it accomplished much as a prequel because as soon as I felt like everything was set up and I started getting into it, it just ended! Just didn’t really feel like it told me much I didn’t already know. It was awesome seeing Jason get a kill in the snow though. Still want a feature length film like this!
My only real complaint was the length. It made me want to see a full-length Jason killing in the snow film. Which... I guess is a good thing for this one?

I was pretty disappointed that it was half the length and nothing really happens even though it's a prequel. Then I look on IMDb and there's three more coming out but with a pandemic who knows if they'll be able to shoot them

Hey Cody, If you want to watch a slasher franchise that's set in the show. You should try Cold Prey 1 and 2. It's a Norwegian Ssasher franchise, but it's one of the best I've ever seen. I actually prefer part 2 over the original Halloween 2 from 1981.

JASON USING A BOW AND ARROW....he'd throw the bow and take a handful of arrows and punch them through the guys head..a close up kill,seeing the bow and arrow thing really took me out of it for a bit watching the trailer.agreed it is a more unique kill but really i don't think a Zombie in a hockey mask would us it in that manner.other than that i'll watch fer sure!
i love never like alone so this is going to be a must watch for me i love what vince does in his movies .

I think I liked never hike alone better but I really enjoyed this movie slot especially the snow I just wish there were a couple more kills but I’m definitely excited for part 2 3 and 4
This was such a letdown. Technical wise it was good all the camera work was great. The opening scene was good but would have been better without the slo mo. The final minute when the cop goes into Jason’s room was good but everything else about this was so boring. Tom Mathews character was completely pointless in this. All he did was write on a car and get arrested. This should have just focused on the kid for the first 10 or 15 minutes hiking in the snow and Jason stalking him. Maybe the kid runs into Jarvis looking for Jason or something like that. ( for a movie called never hike in the snow there’s no hiking in the snow and I know Friday fans like to harp on a certain entry in the series for lying with its title) They really didn’t take advantage of the snow setting in this, besides the opening scene this could just have been in the dead of summer and it would have been exactly the same.
1/5 cause the effects were great. Hopefully the next entry can be closer to NHA in quality cause if it’s like this one I have a feeling I won’t be too keen on it.
