Without a mortgage, we're saving 45k yearly. That's the difference between our current property taxes and rent for our previous residence.
Basically we're only paying out of pocket, 5k yearly for 3.5 bathrooms on a quarter acre

Very interesting perspective- that’s a very large amount to be saved. Did you down grade your life style or maintain the same quality, location, and amenities? Again 45,000 is a lot to save yearly. That’s like 10x local taxes here 😂😂

@@LifeinAtlanta yeah, we went from a luxury apartment, that 2 bathroom unit now rents for 50k yearly. It definitely had all the amenities. Could walk to 3 bakeries, 10 grocery stores within a 2 mile radius, bus stops and subway station, hotels for guests, movie theater, walkable to a gazillion restaurants, and easy access to jobs...
But per COVID, we didn't have to be in the office anymore.
      Now definitely slower lifestyle.
I think the biggest difference is before we didn't need a car.
But I call this a step down to get a step up!
My hope is, if I can be savvy with investing aggressively using all our earnings, I might be able to afford the luxurious 6 bathrooms in Buckhead!! 😂
If the hustle doesn't work, just coast on our quiet street in the suburbs.

Wow over 4,000 month for a condo. Must have been quite lavish overall. I find that when it comes to luxury rentals and home ownership there certainly are a lot of saving to be had from renting rather than buying. But when it comes to middle class housing in the suburbs and agricultural territory- it still makes more sense to buy then to rent. The margins for profit through equity and savings are bigger, tax liability, and cost of maintenance also tend to be lower in middle class areas as well.
