I have a Dell poweredge R720 16 2.5" bay model. I inserted a 1tb sata drive i got from a non working Playstation 4. When i put the drive into my server so i can install windows server on it i get a solid green light on the drive caddy but i also get a flashing amber / orange light too. I place my hand on the drive and it appears to be spinning but it cant be seen by os instalation software. What could be the cause of this problem and what might be the problem with the hard drive if there is any priblem with it?
HI +Raj Div, as soon as we get one of those in, we will be doing a video immediately. Of course, I'm not sure exactly when that will be… Soon I hope! Thanks for watching!
HI Raj, we just posted a video of the Dell EMC PowerEdge R740xd server. I don't actually need one but I do want one! Here's our video, enjoy! ruclips.net/video/Vp9WVUE8Oo4/видео.html
In dual processor configuration, what is the affinity between sockets and PCI-e slots on riser cards? I.e. which PCI-e slots are connected to which CPU socket?
Hi Ерден Жумабеков, There are 8 PCIe slots total supported in three different risers, the Primary, Secondary, and Terciary The primary riser supports slots 1-3 from the top down and is controlled by CPU1. The secondary riser supports slots 4-6 from the top down (middle PCIe slots on back of system). The Terciary riser requires both processors and supports slots 7-8. Refer to the QuickSpecs here, pages 3, and 4 www.itcreations.com/user-manuals/DL380G10/QuickSpecs.pdf There are also several different risers supported, with specific versions for GPUs and storage listed on page 25. Click the arrow at the top of the page to see our landing page for this server and more reference materials including the Maintenance Manual and User Guide. Thanks for watching!
Perhaps I didn't understand your question, and maybe I still don't understand your question Ерден, but I will give it another shot. Three separate risers can be installed on the system board. The risers plug into a PCIe slot on the mother board and expand the PCIe lanes to accommodate more PCIe slots, which in turn can support more PCIe cards (GPUs, Network interface controllers, HD/RAID controllers, ...). The primary riser plugs into one slot on the motherboard that is controlled by CPU1, and supports three PCIe gen3 slots on the riser. I think that would be the affinity portion. Going by what I said above, CPU1 controls the primary riser and slots 1-3 the other five slots are active only with the second processor installed and can only be outfitted with PCIe cards only when you install the secondary and terciary risers.
Hi Angie- ChO , I'm not sure what you are asking when you say you have the server but are not sure which model of hardware device. It's an HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 server. Aside from that, if you need information regarding updating the system or installing other types of storage SAS or NVMe then post it here and we will be happy try to answer your question, if possible. If you are looking to purchase some hardware then visit our website at www.itcreations.com. BTW, there are a few links in the description for this specific server, definitely a link to QuickSpecs. Anyway, post away or visit our site and thank you for watching!
How do I login to my iLo 5 portal? I created a username and password when I activated my EON, but that doesn't work. Can someone assist? Do I have to activate the license key first?
Hi there, This one no, but you may be thinking of the HPE SimpliVity 380 which is built on this same chassis and is a modular building block-type unit for a converged infrastructure.
Inscrutable. Could be a woman's clothing line but sounds like a great drink, perhaps I will order one on the next bar hop! If they don't know what it is I'm quite sure they can make something up!
Potentially a musical "artist" but sounds more like an 18th century English bloke who makes a living by tripping up wealthy patrons going to sleazy pubs who are later found unconscious in an alley sans wallet, watch, and self-esteem. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Does this server support the Nvidia GTX 10 and RTX 20 series GPUs?
:) Please make a video on new DELLEMC r740x
