If I heard correctly, the lyrics in this song for the most part are direct quotes from the Eric/Dylan audio tapes. As is with most of her lyrics they come from transcripts of the cases that each song is about. Michelle Carter for example, that song is literally the text messages that they sent each other.

Not only that, the lyric "it's just a game we play" is in reference to when Eric and Dylan used to play Doom alot. So it's also likely the massacre felt like a game to them.

SKYND has a track record of going against the norm in that they take these real life tragedies and highlight the victims instead of those committing the acts. It is said that good art should unsettle the comfortable, and comfort the unsettled. They're good at that.

Just for clarification Skynd is a crime history group they try make all of their tracks historically accurate to the crime. Most of their other tracks are named after the purpatrator of the crime.

When you said if you saw a person dressed like the person Skynd was portraying in the video, you'd leave, Skynd is actually portraying death, evil, demons, horror in most of the videos. She's in the video but she's unseen to people because she's just the IT of what happened. in this case, she's portraying Death, which takes many shapes, forms, identities, it is absolute.

Yeah, this is definitely not the one I would have started with. I do think what they do is pure art. Dark art, but art nonetheless. Jim Jones is really well done. Tally Ho does all their videos. As far as I know. I think her voice is supposed to be more of a part of the sound rather than lyrical.
And yes, I think about it all the time when I send my daughter to school. The world makes me want to hide her away sometimes.

In an interview Skynd said they are not glorifying the events that they make songs about but are instead using them in an artistic representation so that they may never be forgotten. Can't just ignore events even if they are incredibly tragic, it's impossible to learn from them if we forget. I also saw a comment in one of their youtube videos that Skynd is an invisible "being" that appears at these horrific events and witnesses them but doesn't cause them.

Skynd is an amazing band. You really need to listen more. You said it makes you feel weird. That's the point I think. To make people feel unnerved. I loved how the video focused on the victims vs the shooters. Tallyho does all their videos. If you're not familiar research the names first before reacting. My personal favorites are Richard Ramirez, Tyler Hadley but all their songs are amazing and the visuals are so well done. Like mini movies in most cases. Please react to more. Skyndicate 🖤

Skynd is an acquired taste for sure. "This shit makes me feel weird bro." I get it. From my point of view, this is some of the most proactive and real music out there. Is it uncomfortable, yes. It dives into the most extreme examples of human nature and doesn't shy away from the horrors we are capable of. Instead of our barbaric nature being a dirty secret we only whisper at night under the covers, Skynd dives in and presents us with what we don't want to see. Will it strike up a conversation? Yes. Will it make you question your stance on tough topics like gun control, school shootings, our basic rights as people. Absolutely. I know it makes you feel weird bro. It's meant to. One thought to consider on the topic raised, how much freedom are you willing to sacrifice to be safe? And the answer to that question is different for everyone, every day.

Skynd. What a weird band. The way they portray evil things from real life... With lyrics that shed insight to the heads of the killers. It's meant to feel dark and disturbing. Sort of a hard reality shock about how many sinister people there have been and how much more there are in the brew, popping up here and there.
May i suggest SKYND Feat. Jonathan Davis 'Gary Heidnik' as your next dive with this band?
I'd also suggest you'd take a look at Amigo The Devil - Cocaine and Abel (Bridge City Sessions version) and Nightwish - Ghost Love Score (Official Live)

The Spain you know sounds so different from the Spain I spent almost 8 years in the 1980’s growing up in.
My dad was Air Force and shortly after I was born we were stationed on Torrejon Air Base then we moved to the village of ,Camarma (both very close to Madrid) and i grew up performing bombing detection and survival drills starting in Pre-School, and starting in Elementary, we added preparations in case someone attempted to kidnap us.
Local Spanish Military were always visible in public places strapped with machine guns because of the ongoing conflict the government had with the Basque people (their local indigenous people)
It wasn’t anything I wish I never experienced… Spain was beautiful, the culture was amazing, and honestly, the way the Spanish teach children about these safety issues, created a foundation that has stayed with me and helped me navigate crisis situations to this day.
The Spain you know is so different from that reality because Span acknowledged they had a problem and worked hard for change… work the US sadly refuses to do.

I appreciate your reaction and thoughts on this song and the issue it is covering. This is my least favorite song of theirs but the video is well done and it was meant to focus on the victims instead which I think they did a good job at portraying. I would love to see you react to their newest song Michelle Carter then some others like Elisa Lam & Jim Jones. Also, the vocalist has a powerful voice which you can hear in the song Katherine Knight in the live version.

    Public school, battle grounds
    Two students, come around like
    Loaded soldiers, packing heat
    Inside a shotgun, gun click
    To the beat, down
    We shoot you down
    We come around
And when we blow off that trigger, get down
We shoot you down, we come around
The gun goes click, click, click
    Ra-ta-ta-ta Ra-ta-ta-ta
Get up, ready, mark, shoot, how many victims is we 'bout to lose
Get up, ready, mark, shoot, how many victims, how many victims 2x
    No vendetta, seeking fame
Bombs and bullets, its just a game we play
    Baby soldiers, baseball field
    Inside a shotgun, gun click
    To the beat, down
    We shoot you down
    We come around
And when we blow off that trigger, get down
We shoot you down, we come around
    The gun goes...

I find the singer's presence in the videos interesting. I've only seen a couple, but she doesn't seem to really play the killers themselves, but more the air of death around them. These killers saw themselves as just regular guys who deserved to be on top, for no reason other than they hated other people. She starts off in the hoodie, briefly becomes the pov girl in the computer lab, and ends the video presumably along the killers' suicides, now dressed as royalty, but with her face blacked out. And with the lyrics' focus on the times they talked about treating it like a game, I'm getting a lot of sarcastic subtext. "You won, and now you're just another faceless body. Hope you had fun."

As someone who was dressed in school like that, I promise you: we were weird but we were the nicest kids. We saw that high school drama, with all the bullying, looked at it and thought: "Nah mate, Im not doing this, and I wont stand for this".
The columbine guys weren't actually goths. They were sports jocks. Us goths just got a bad rep cause we looked weird.
There's probably an English equivalent, but I cant think of it now, but in Dutch we say "a barking dog won't bite you", as in: if someone tries really hard to look scary, they're probably a softy on the inside. And honestly, that's us.
    Love this song tho.

I live in Colombia in South America and gun are illegal here . Now only the bad guys and police have guns . Every night you hear gun shots and someone innocent dies. One day a group of guys walked into a packed church and robbed everyone at gun point . If people find out I'm American they'll kidnap me and hold me for ransom and kill me if my family pays or not . I've already had a close call and had to move to another town . They found my uncle's parking lot , tied everyone down at gunpoint and stole some cars and buses instead. My grandma's best friend was kidnapped after they found out she had a successful business and had money . They shot her in the head during a police car chase. This is only a few of the incidents that I've witnessed in the few years that I 've been here . I can't go outside with nice shoes , jewelry , nor a cell phone unless I want to get shot. Here people shoot first and then take what they want . I wish I could have a gun for protection but we don't have that luxury here. Ban guns and criminals take over .

I live in Spain - cops have guns - criminals have knifes. Cops magically found a less lethal way to take down criminals with knifes without shooting them. You can count on 1 hand how many bullets were fired by police at a person in the last 5 years. I get your personal point.. where you are is ravaged by crime. 99% of crime is rooted in poverty, your response is to say You would like a gun. My response would be let’s fix the poverty.

Skynd do songs based on true crimes while lyrics tend to be minimal it’s usually based off what the criminals actually said or to invoke a feeling of in easiness. They walk the line of crossing the line on purpose. Love Skynd all my true crime fans will agree that they provide the information in the why they know how to the best.

I grew up in Texas and I remember having a conversation with my stepdad when I was in high school probably mid to late 90s and the topic of marijuana came up. He said something to the effect of I'm sure it may become legal someday, but not in my lifetime. I definitely don't see it becoming legal in my lifetime. And here we are in 2021. He's still alive. Okay it's not legal in Texas yet, but it is in a bunch of other states and I think Texas can have CBDs now... Point being, when someone is taking action to make something happen in the future they can have hope and see a future with the change. The people who are pessimistic or say things like "that's not going to happen" are usually the ones who are taking no actions to being the change. And this isn't even about politics cuz I am pro second amendment gun rights to. The big issues on this topic in my opinion would be communication skills. And kids that want to be famous and be on TV and be on a platform. Back in 1999 if you wanted to make a name for yourself or be famous in any way and you weren't awkward teenager with low self esteem the only way you were ever going to be inFAMOUS or famous or inFAMOUS is to do something like this. As annoying as some tick tock channels can tend to be that whether people realize it or not it could be a big game changer in this that kids can have a hope of doing something... (hopefully proactive) that will "go viral" put them on a screen and could make them famous or at least get a misunderstood/neglected kid some much needed attention. Making the news by doing some horrific act is no longer your average kids hope of being seen. The truly ironic part of this is that society's complacency and apathy to severe social & political issues is exactly what makes some people snap. But that's just my perspective... .02¢

Flyleaf also has a Columbine based song...believe it's called Cassie. Flyleaf is thought to be the best, and was prior to SKYND. Though SKYND fan here, like others commenting would've started with an older one.
Bill Saber (the fella on the comp doing the part you couldn't understand...tooke a few of his part on first listen to get the understanding as well) is also an interesting one to check out...style alone.
Columbine perps also had placed various bombs around the area...thankfully which failed to go off. They were said to be concerned mainly with 'playing militia'...hence that line. Known as I believe it was 'The Trenchcoat Mafia' those two....I was 'one of those types'...of course minus the shooting rampage aspect...but would wear the long sleeves under the short sleeves type deal, had/have a trenchcoat at the time.
I went to a private catholic school (for HS only)
There was also the part where they held at least one at gun point...inquired if she believed in god...then was inquired as to if they believed in 'their' god...depending on the response to that they'd either shoot or let run...with a to say 'top-notch' hockey program would be an understatement. The Biology teacher for one of the grades was also the hockey coach...of course allowing him all kinds of perks and special treatment. Up to and exceeding how he treated/spoke to not just fellow staff, but also students. Anywho long story I guess shorterish...in between periods (the teachers... especially he, would stand outside their doors watching the hustle and bustle of the hallways. He saw I one day after the Columbine events and referenced their name there in relation to myself and such.
He was also quite racist but for a pass due to the hockey aspect...but other than telling outdated 'jokes' (and I utilize that term QUITE loosely) such as telling one student in my class that to get a tan he'd need to go outside and turn his palms up...in more words or less. I'll let folks piece that one together themselves.
Or after 9/11...(which I watched live on the classrooms TVs there throughout the day...to which he stated the whole 'flinging rocks in their turbans at tanks over there's and how we should 'videotape killing Bin Laden slowly and painfully, mail the tape to his family where after they watched it, it would explode killing them all as well.'
Yeah...but eh at least he knew hockey...right...?

Hi, great reaction video, while you were saying at 3:02 "if I encountered someone like that i'd be gone", or to that effect, you should focus on the backgroud....

Skynd will show you the worst of humanity, no sugar coating, just BAM here it is. You knew it was there, this wasn't news to you. But I'll show it to you as it is. And if that makes you uncomfortable? Good. It should be. This stuff isn't comfortable. It's sickening. And that's why I love them so much. Anti-escapism at it's best.

Have you read the article about a kid who literally went through one of these shootings (again, not american, don't know the name of the school), and they are living with a father who doesn't believe they went through it because he actually thinks it's all a hoax? That stuff's f-ing tragic.

ill like to point out to non americans and sadly to some americans themselves, we value freedom over life. i saw a fb post once after a school shooting that i wont ever forget and fully agree with. "we can have a mass shooting everyday, no amount of dead kids trump the 2AD." keep in mind ive have lost family and frens to gun violence, so i know the pain that this youtuber is talkin about and yet i understand self defense is a american right. if you wish to save lives, sparkin a civil war over gun rights is not the way to go about it.

It’s not that half of America thinks it’s a lie. It’s that it doesn’t pertain to rural Americans.. There aren’t mass shootings or even high homicide rates in rural America. It’s an issue that only pertains to cities, and so only 50% cares about the issue.

The singer can't be scene by anyone at the school, she's just an invisible force there to document and witness the events. Like the Grim Reaper, he doesn't cause death he documents the events and guides the souls.

Really do need to actually start Skynd with the Jon Davis collab with the Gary Heidnik song.

I seriously doubt the intent was for you to come away feeling comfortable. But she accomplished the goal of all good music. To elicit an emotional response from another human. Even if that emotion is an unpleasant one.

All her songs are about brutal killers and masacres. Her other songs you can make out more of the lyrics too but she alters her voice off and on. This song was more to just feel

Man on your whole gun thing I think you're a hundred percent wrong. But me personally I don't trust any government that says they can have guns and we can't. I'm just supposed to assume that you're going to be there to save me anytime something bad goes down?
