Use coupon "LDM15" for the homie hook up when checking out!
To each their own... but that cart stresses me out. Lol
That Shit hurt my eyes.
HAHAHAHA Right? It's is like Scooty Kilmores garage lol.
I was thinking the same thing. Im not hating on the guy by any means but, me personally i couldnt work like that. I need to know where everything is especially if something is missing. My dads shop is the same way. When i do big jobs ( head gaskets, motor/ tranny swaps dash removals) every bolt is labeled in sandwich bags. Also if im not done with the job at the end of the day every tool is located and put back. My dad total opposite bolts and tools everywhere but it works for him.
I can totally relate to the organize mess idea. When you use the same tools every day, your brain and hands develop a memory
Facts😭😂
Yo yo yo yooooo keep these style of videos coming man really helpful for those in tech school like myself 👌🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Will do!!
I'm a Toyota man. Have a first gen Sequoia and Highlander. I can appreciate the simplicity and good engineering, those 10,12,14mm are so common on them. It really amazes me how few tools I actually used to do a timing belt on the 4.7L. But I also work on old american iron. Tractor and small block chevy so I ha e to ha e that set of SAae standard tools to complement the metrics. So even though I'm no pro I have an ever expanding collection.
Seeing his cart gives me anxiety... love seeing other people’s boxes ect
I'm an older tech and I like to watch these videos to get organization ideas. Didn't get any here! Still cool to watch.
Best thing i rec are magnetic socket holders, magnetic silicone trays, foam pads and cut out the shap of the tools for storage
That's one reason why I don't like tool carts like that ,you really can't organized it ,it's to small
@@dennisrieger1508 Agreed. That's why I got a Matco Jamestown 773 cart. Snap On and Mac have the bigger carts too.
lmao! thanks man
Gotta tell you bro, these videos are helpful and nice!! I’m going to UTI and I tell my classmates to look at your videos 👌👌.
Which campus?
Hey man thanks alot for helping bring people here!
MMI here
If this guy is going from one lift to another lift pretty often this set up makes a lot of sense, all his tools are in front of him no matter where in the work shop he is working,
We have the same color shop shirts at our Toyota shop.
Also good to see what you guys are using. I just made it to advanced/ flat rate at my shop. Still figuring out what tools I need.
Good stuff man keep pushing and stay tuned for more tool vids that cover this
Call an ambulance, Clay Koon has just had a heart attack.
Got to love the scorpions playing in the back ground!! Big City Nights 🤘🤘🤘
And Van Halen lol🤟🤟🤟🤟
Awesome video
Have watched this video about 4 or 5 times and every time I watch it, Alex's cart makes more and more sense. *shrugs*
New uniform looks sharp Nick
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻great video like always 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
congrats on going back to toyota man.
Good video to show diversity in tool cart set up
Thanks 👍
Very organized sir!!
Thanks for taking the time to reply Nick stay safe
anytime Georgie! I try my best to get back to everyone!
My tool cart was called a crash cart and made it so much easier to perform specific repair projects.
Quick and easy 👌🏽
Great Video
You seem happier now you are back with Toyota. I have worked for BMW all my life, the product is interesting to work on but the times are poor. Best wishes 👍
thanks man, and Im making more money with Toyota so that makes me happy
What's the brand and part number on the axle band clamp tool? the slim light too. Thanks for the vid!
not sure message him on IG and thanks!
I agree with Adam lol. As a flat rate tech time is money organization = save time= more money 💰 lol nice vid bro
This man has exceptional hair for a tech
If a company comes out with a battery powered air hammer that actually will perform close to the air ones will change the game for sure. I know they can do it because they already have battery hammer drills out for construction use. Then the only reason for air would be to blow guns and to fill tires.
Nice setup, couldn't help to notice that his hammer is still nice and shiny. 🤣. Here in the Midwest the hammer is the most used tool.
you got that right 🤣
What’s the link for the little flashlight?
Thanks
The extended 1/4 m12 makes so much sense
Love the videos 🙌🏻🙌🏻👌🏻🔧🔧 ....Would you ever work for an independent shop or have you ever worked at a independent shop ?
I have not officially yet, but I think ill stick with the dealer for now for the stability.
What brand are thoes box end wrenches. The 12-14. And 17-19. I need thoes
Q&A: what is the best thing about working in a dealership?
What model was that swivel flashlight?
Time is money, but can he actually find anything? If he had actual organization there would be no need for doubles of everything.
surprisingly yes lol
I have seen worst!!🤦🏽♂️🤣🤣🤣
I’ve never organized anything and have great salary.
There’s no way the guy doesn’t have a mistress 😂
Just got certified by toyota at the beginning of this month, been, loving the recalls. Not so much the TAS 🤣
Nice man keep trying to get sent to class. the more certs mean the more jobs you can do.
@@LetsDriftMedia going to basic electrical next week!
Do you recommend the 1/4 over the 3/8 Snap-on extended cordless ratchet?
I have neither, but from what ive heard the 1/4 is the way to go if your getting the extended version since your most likely going to use it in tighter spaces.
I just picked up the same Snap On flashlight definitely worth the money. A lot of light in a small body.
Do you happen to know what model it is, I can't seem to find it.
Just found it, for anyone else wondering its ECPND032 from Snap On
What magnetic try brand is that red one?
I am a T-ten student half way through the program. I was just wondering what is your experience seeing these t-ten students out in the field. I know everyone’s different but how do they compare in earning hours wise to techs that came from uti or no tech school at all?
T-ten students for the most part are in a better place than any other group of students from a similar votech program. I’m a former t-ten grad, master Toyota tech, became a Master Lexus Tech, Master Service Advisor and current ASM at a Lexus Store. To my boy Alex for all the people saying that if you worked or were more organize you wouldn’t need 2 of everything, to those people I say my top producing techs have duplicates of most tools because we all know that 10mm sockets falls into a black hole, and those Wrenches vanish without trace, and because it’s PIMP AF to have 5 different size 10mm sockets (Toyota/Lexus techs will get that reference), and lastly my top producing techs have carts that are perfectly organize messes. This is a good channel, keep up the great work.
Dope uniforms bro they make you look like fighter pilots
Looks just as disorganized as my HF cart. Except I am lacking in tools! Great video. Thanks to both of you.
Man i miss being a Toyota tech . I was one class away from being an MDT and i got a chance to wrench for the government so i moved on.
I'm not a flat rate tech but I have a lot like he does. Doubles of a lot of stuff. I don't like to go looking. But all my stuff is HF. About to get this tool cart to replace my old HF cheap rolling toolbox. Quality is not that good, it's not even sold anymore. But the tools, only a few broken things that they have replaced.
Quick n easy
How you liking the new fuel pump recalls ?
The Tacoma’s suck but over here we figured a way to take the pump out just by tilting the tank as long as it’s 1/2 tank or less
Love all the fuel pump recalls!
aye i work for the madland toyota forklift/diesel side
What up brother you are back as Toyota tech again
sup doggy. Yes i Am
I like this guy, he has a huge collection of lockable wheels nuts /bolts,😃 it's awesome....🤘
Please share or show who is doing what, what work / responsibilities are the mechanic does.
By the way, thanks for the video.,,😎
Hey where can i get those wheel locks
Nice 👌
YOUR VIDEOS ARE GREAT , COULD YOU TELL USE SOME OF THE TOOL BRANDS AND WHERE TO BUY THEM AT THANKS !!!!!!!!!
Where did he get the wheel locks from
How to apply as a lube tech? Do you have a link?
Can I know the light brand?
I like to use air tools. But that’s me I don’t have to worry about it being dead. But I do love the battery pack tools no lie but I I think I will change sooner or later but as for now I’m all air
This homies needs 2 tool carts!
Hi How are you? Can you show us how to clean Toyota RAV4 xle Hybrid cooling fan and filter. Also can you please show us how to remove hybrid fan and filter area. Thank You so much.
Toyota RAV4 2017 XLE Hybrid.....
I don't think the dealership would let him record stuff like that because that's money gone for them.
This made my eye twitch. How does he find anything?
its very easy when you know what is in the drawer and use it daily...
More vids of the shop bro, wish you could upload more
same man! been putting in long hours at work lately.
Where you get the small streamlight? My snap on rep dont carry those
Amazon
amazon, or other tool trucks, i got mine off a Matco truck.
To become a tech can you go to a school that only does auto tech training or do you have to do regular classes like math English ect before you start doing the tech training?
just auto classes, but some collleges require math and english now for there auto program, I never took them tho.
Math and English is if you want a degree. For a certificate you just do auto classes
Q&A: I don't suppose you know if you have to supply your own tools in a UK dealership, one day I'd live to work for Ford in a dealership and want to start getting my own tools, and what would be the best for a beginner. Thank you
Love your videos x
If I were you I'd start with a company like tekton and get a 3/8 short ratchet, flex head ratchet medium length and get the 6mm-24mm short and deep sockets. Get a screwdriver set, plier set, vice grips, set of wrenches (combination and ratcheting). Get a few hammers (ball pein, soft blow and a mallet. Pry bars are a essential for suspension work as well. These are the bare necessities, you'll eventually need things like 1/4, 1/2, sockets/ ratchets. 1/2 impact sockets are good to do 24mm-36mm short and deep. Swivel impacts are essential for time savings but you can get away with a swivel 3/8 adapter. Torque wrenches are good to have, a jack and jack stands. A drain pan is good /oil storage container/ funnel. Picks, electric ratcheting wrenches, impact guns, inspection mirrors, hose release tools, serpentine belt kit, pullers, air hammer, DMM, test light, magnets, storage and organization is key as well. Start with a harbor freight roller cart (3 drawer), piece it together in that order and you'll be good.
Oh yeah, and sae is a thing you'll have to consider if you work on American classics
Thank you for your reply, this is helpful.
@@chloeholditch2825 it doesn't have to be in that order and get what you need when you can but its a good start for the essentials
You always seem to work with chill dudes
Q&A
What is the best option for school in the automotive industry UTI or community college and other tech schools
Don’t go to UTI fam it’s a waste of money community college is just barely a step above UTI but atleast cc isn’t 35k. UTI squeezes the ciriculum into like 10 months and you really don’t learn shit that you couldn’t learn from taking a vehicle apart yourself. I’ve been a dealer tech for 9 years and I went to cc. I got my AAS. I only paid roughly 1.5 k. I make over 30 an hour. Most I made hourly is 40$ per hour working for a shop. Working for my own clientele I charge 160$ an hour. Big facts
@@LVCatSociety I'm curious to know the full name course. To go check out a cc near me. I have been buying TOOLS every other paycheck. To have ready when that day comes to work for a legit shop or my own.
@@LVCatSociety also how long months was school term
He said plier drawer quick and easy. I looked at it and was like damn where to start? Lol
Do how do you use your air hammer? Battery tools is great but can’t never be better then air tools in my opinion
Air hammer is still in his cart you cant beat that thing
@@LetsDriftMedia which one do you guys use? I use big nasty recommended by Eric O
@@evansjean I have a Mac one thats been working good for me. Alex has a snap on one
@@LetsDriftMedia keep up with the videos man I love that. Good luck 👍🏿
how do you bring the whole tool car/box to with all tools to the shop?
You have to haul it in and then it stays at your bay
tow truck or pickup truck and forklift.
A pick up truck or trailer and some man power
No air hammer?
Hey man, been watching you for a while your videos quality has improved like crazy over the year great job keep up the good work. My question is are tech schools worth it? I’m 20 I just worked at one shop for 3 years and now at a new shop starting off as a C tech. I haven’t went to tech school yet and idk if I should at this point. Learning hands on is great I’ve learned a lot asking questions and helping other techs while I’m waiting for recs or it’s slow. Is it worth going to school? Or should I just stick hands on? Thanks
@jc_wrx19
I’d say just stick with hands on doing what your doing based on how much time/experience u have already working in the field 👍🏽
I say go to school and get your ASE certifications. The more knowledge you have the better for you. Stay away from UTI because it's expensive. Go to a community college and go for a degree not just a certificate. You have to see it as are you going to be wrenching you're whole life? What if you get injured and can't wrench anymore? If you have a degree you can use it to get. Another position within the shop.
If you have a solid mentor that's willing to show you the ropes I think you don't need school with the amount of experience you have acquired. Get the study guides and take your ASEs, one at a time at your pace. Contrary to popular belief you don't need school to pass ASE tests
@@fabiancortes9644 I love on the east coast I was thinking either Penn Tech or Ohio tech. But true they both offer associate degrees and it’s an 18 month program. But I agree good thoughts thanks for the answer
Q&A:
Can we get your opinion on tool brands? See a lot of techs running Milwaukee and snap-on. :)
Idk if this is out there but it would be cool if someone did a study showing what the average mechanic/auto technician drives for a vehicle. With them having to work on cars everyday and them seeing what common issues are I believe that would influence their purchase. What do you think they drive?
I drive a 2003 Toyota Corolla with the 5 speed transmission. Super reliable. I bought it with only the axle seals leaking and needed an alignment. Of course working at a Toyota dealership I fixed those issues the next day. And I’m religious at maintenance so I don’t have to do anything too crazy as far as repairs. The 1ZZ engine is fantastic for every day driving. Then I have my toy. My 2014 F-250 FX4. I have that truck to haul stuff and to go off roading and when I want to drive a V8. It’s the 6.2L and those engines are very stout and reliable if you take care of it. I buy vehicles that are reliable so I don’t have to work on them because working on cars all day every day every week can wear you down and the last thing I want to do is work on my own vehicles when I get off of work.
That would be interesting, from what ive seen theres 2 types of mechanics, car enthusiast who have there own cool builds they drive and the mechanics that just see it as a job and drive whatever is cheap and easy to maintain.
I work at a GM dealership as a technician. I daily a 2014 sonic with a 1.8l. From what I've seen at work they are terrible cars but mine has 150k and is still going strong with no issues yet. I also have a 1987 chrysler conquest that I absolutely love. It's currently in pieces since I'm redoing the entire car but it's been a blast working on it. I personally try to find a car that I am passionate about and like to drive but is still decently reliable and easy to work on.
Buick park avenue with the 3.8
How does he find the socket he needs to strip my drain plug in that mess?
its always nice to see someone who truly enjoys their work. wish I had that
It’s a blessing in the automotive industry I love going to work everyday doesn’t feel like a job to me most days
@@lukelogan8539 how long u been doing it
Same. It'd be nice to have an entire week where I didn't wonder why I got into this.
Thanks man, I try to keep it positive
@@rawjor only 2 years so idk maybe I’ll hate it down the road but I’ve enjoyed it so far
What brand magnet tray is that?
snap on.
Since it is for Toyotas, where do you keep the tampons?
top left drawer. You?
@@LetsDriftMedia Sorry, I identify as male, lol.
How much was that set of wheels locks ? Or where could I find a set for cheap the shop I work at has only 1 set you have to check out at parts
He seems really nice lol
Is auto tech school worth it and if so is it worth to go to UTI or a college around me
Go to a community College. I did cheaper and same education. My friend went to uti and we ended up at the same dealership but I had no debt other than tools
@@ljavierg18 appreciate that bro I been stressing if it was worth it or not and I did not want to spend over $40K at UTI I’m definitely going to community
Does he have an electric air hammer ? Hmmm 🤔
How many bays are available for each tech?
Our place provides built in tool boxes and benches since we each have our own bay, would be nice to have an extra hoist to get those hours
Most of us have 2 bays. and it makes it alot easier to multi task that way, I only had 1 at my first toyota dealer not sure how i did it.
Hi nick, do you still see or chat to your old toyota tecs and the old place?
I actually havnt visited the shop since I left, but I do keep in touch with a handful of the guys there.
What brand was that small flex light he had with the 3-4 way light ?
I have one similar but it's way bigger. I bought mine from snap+on for $150. Harbor freight has one that flexes like that but only has 2 lights, on won the tip and then the one on the side. You can get the harbor freight one for $25 with the coupon.
might be the new gearwrench flex headlight
That’s new from Snap-On
Yea it was snap on I think it just came out.
@@LetsDriftMedia thank you
Can you do list of the brands he points out?
I see a lot of snap-on and Milwaukee. The advice I have gotten from techs where I work at is to not buy from the tool trucks because you will spend a lot of money and your tool box won't be as full. I buy a lot from Amazon and certain things I do get from snap-on. For power tools I buy milwaukee over snap-on because it's a big price difference. I have a few snap-on ratchets because I know they will be reliable. Sunex, and gearwrench are good alternatives. A lot of the tool truck tolls are rebranded anyways. I bought a $40 wrench from mac the other day and I received a wrench with another brand, looked it up and it costs $20 online
@@fabiancortes9644 Thank you. I just started last week at a Toyota Dealership in Georgia as a Quick Lube Tech. I want to get all the information that I can. Nick has been a BIG help in that area and I really appreciate you too Fabian C.
@@marvino3829 I started 2 years ago at a Lexus dealership as a lube tech. I am currently in the me torship program to become a flagging tech. Careful when buying off the mac tool truck because they sell a lot of tools you can find on Amazon for almost double. For example a knock light from ezred is $45 on amazon and the truck has it for $65. Good brands are otc tools, gearwrench, sunex, ezred, some tekton stuff, harbor freight a icon tools, some other harbor freight tools, milwaukee. For sockets and wrenches you only use 8mm, 10mm, 11mm (for tire pressure sensors), 12mm,14mm, 15mm wrench (some tie rod for alignments), 17mm, 19mm, 21mm, 22mm ,24mm, 30mm(the socket for the axle nut). 21 and 22 for lug nuts. Bigger sizes mostly for alignment stuff. Some torx and hex don't remember what sizes. Toyota requires a little bit more tools since you guys have more models to work with and you guys do drum brakes. Invest in a 1/4 hex impact driver to remove screws faster. Also invest in a good oil filter wrench. If you need anymore tips feel free to ask. My insta is fcortes626 you can dm me on there and I can tell you what brands I bought of what.
What happened to working at bmw mate?
ruclips.net/video/NthAgLeze-o/видео.html
He said time is money. I wonder how many hours a week he spends looking for tools.
If he was organized, he wouldn’t have to have doubles of everything. Lmao.
Question: Where is a good place to start as an entry level lube tech?
Entry level lube tech with 0 work experience, shoot for spots like firestone, pep boys, mavis, etc. then after some months-1year or when u feel the time is right, try to find a dealership to work at
If you are done with schooling or if you have some schooling and can show proof you can start at a dealership. If not then you'd have to start like at jiffy lube or something similar. I got hired at a dealership with no experience but I was already done with school and had my degree and 2 ASE certifications. But other people have gotten hired with no ASE Certifications and they're still in school.
Apply at dealerships because there is more opportunity for growth.
if you can get into a dealership go for it, but it is kind of hard with no school/exp. Maybe jiffy lube or something like that to get some experience. You could also start as a porter at a dealer and work your way up.
I personally started at Pepboys not as a lube tech but as a mechanic and it’s a great place to get some ASE’s and move up. I was hired as a mechanic with little experience in a shop, pretty easy to move up to a tech or go to a dealership
Where are yall out of being flat rate
Should I get a mid torque 1/2in impact or a high torque 1/2in impact?? (Milwaukee) I’m currently a Toyota lube tech
Mid torque, better and lighter for the all day tire rotations
Alex Franco sweet, thanks 🤟🏽
If it's your only 1/2" gun it might be better to get the high torque first. So you don't get stuck needing it at some point, but it is a little heavier. "How to automotive" has a video on it i believe.
For a lube tech, mid torque is just fine
I would get the mid torque first, the high torque is way too strong for most work at toyota, There are times when you would need it but as a lube tech its deff overkill.
Does he own the wheel lock keys? Or does the shop own them?
they belong to him.
@@LetsDriftMedia nice! Where can I get some like those? My shop only carries one box for the entire shop smh
this is a hoarders episode lol id rather quit then to dig through that daily
