Dog is one of most coward animal I remember a incident when a cat was trapped on a wall with 2 street dogs and few dogs were down the wall that cat showed a phenomenal courage and behave differently and didn't turned back or nor running and the dogs on wall were pushing each other to move forward to face that brave cat.
What was the point of this comment? Plus the dogs aren't meant to fight all the coyotes to the death. More like a distraction that also tires them out. Notice how they run instead of fight when faced head on.

They don’t have many natural predators in Wyoming so hunting is a main way to keep their population down. They over hunt their natural prey such as pronghorn, deer, rabbits, prairie dogs, etc., as well as hunt domesticated animals and livestock. The coyote population will not be in jeopardy anytime soon, so hunting is a way of protecting other species and the Wyoming way of life.
