No offense but: I just clicked on some other video on your channel and the first thing I was informed of is "this video is sponsored by 1password". Although I love the way you present all pros and cons and I don't want to doubt your integrety, the fact that you get sponsored by 1password (for other videos) and here in this video it turns out that 1password is the best password manager (although it might be true and just your pure unbiased review result) leaves some sort of aftertaste on my tongue.
A vault is somewhat more than just the ability to "categorise" your passwords. It provides segmentation for sharing scenarios for one. For example, as a business, we can have a shared business vault for passwords that all staff need to access, and I have a "manager" vault that myself and my business manager can access, so that for those important passwords, there isn't that risk of losing access (obviously that requires implicit trust in the person(s) you share it with).
Wait, I thought you would need the master password to unlock any of the vaults. How are you sharing just one vault? I'm curious because I wanted to do what you said, but I'm not gonna share my master password. And I thought that ability would come with the friends and family upgrade?
Suggestion. Do one of these videos for beginners. Why use a password manager? How it works, maybe even a bit of tech. And for this video - does your review recommendations apply for all devices (iOS , android, Mac, pc) - I need a good one that will work for the family which use multiple types of devices.
Great video, thank you. So many reviews are sponsored or given in such a way that each product is “great”. I really appreciate how you give it to us straight and even rank them.
*Keeper* has *bad* business practices: I got an email that I have 30 days left and it will expire if I don't renew. Then a week later they charge me $35. So I ask to get the $35 back, so they issue a refund, but they are ending my subscription in 24 hours (2.5 weeks earlier than they suppose to).
Embarrassingly I have been using Remembear... Enough said. Your video was insanely helpful. Totally agree with you for last pass. Of course there is always the topic of should I trust you lol. But then you are a drummer are you not? I always trust drummers. Carry on.
I have lastpass and getting super frustrated with it. It continues to pull up the wrong password for the site I'm on which is annoying. Didn't realize there were so many trackers. Definitely be switching to something new. Thanks for the review.
I am committed to ditch Norton Password Manager (formerly Norton Vault) after almost 8 years. Yeah, I know, Norton... Not the best company privacy-wise but the password manager was out there before these got popular, and it was bundled with our AV subscription. It got me captivated with its convenience after using it for so long. But things have been getting really weird with them lately... 1. Exactly the same import/export issues you mentioned for Dashlane, 2. They vanished their standalone Windows software overnight and switched to browser addon, 3. You can't import THEIR older backup files because of proprietary file format and removal of the standalone software, 4. Current version accepts importing .CSV file but doesn't export a .CSV file :') (my brain reached its limits at this point) 5. You can't find ANY info online, that isn't outdated, about any of these issues thus you have to contact support, 6. Support wants to connect to your computer to "fix the error" (there is no freaking error, just tell me what to do)... It was long due, Norton.. From what I've read, Security & Privacy communities advise using 1Password and you've come to the same conclusion. Thanks for the great video. I'm so excited to switch!!
I'm in the market for a password manager. I was using google chrome and for some reason chrome stopped working and I had to re-install. Now I have to put my 10000 password back into my computer. My question is if I have to reinstall my browser will I loose my passwords with 1password or bitwarden?
I don't recommend Authy for 2FA TOTP. Aegis and 2FAS are great alternatives, and neither requires you to divulge your phone number. Also, Twilio (Authy's parent company) was hacked recently. Some of their reps were phished, and for some reason they weren't using 2FA. That's pretty bad optics, in my opinion.
You always have to give up convenience for security. I'd just like to know which password manager is open source, has strongest security, 0 trackers and does everything locally?
Hey Great video! But I just checked and dash lane is 35 USD per year! I know this video is old but I dont think the price chnanged that much since last april? What's up with this?
I am reluctant to use a password manager because if it get's hacked you're done. Ofc they aren't easy to hack but I feel like since they are the jackpot hackers will focus on how to hack them more and eventually this will happen. Hence I prefer to try and memorize many strong passwords. This is really difficult and I keep forgetting some and thus have to reset passwords a lot, but ultimately that's safer.
Could somebody please help me? If I have understood this correctly, my passwords will be stored on the provider's web site, so if their server goes down, I can't login to anything? Also, I have handed over my passwords to a third party? What happens if they get hacked? what happens if I forget the (preferably secure and therefore unmemorable) master password? perhaps I need to write it down?
How does a password manager work with a smart TV, where you’re accessing your Netflix account (for example) through the TV and not a browser? Does it work? And if not, does that mean your Netflix password (for example) must remain outside the password manager and therefore at higher risk? You can tell I’m new to this! ;-)
@@PeteMatheson thanks! And one more question - does a password manager have the ability to protect your password as it sits in a company database (ie Netflix) in the event of a hack? Or does it only protect your data from being hacked from your devices?
Mr. Matheson: I've just come to your channel for the first time today 10Jan21. Where are your bona fides that qualify you to know the technical merits of suggesting password managers? Have you worked at a cyber security firm? Something to that effect.

Ok I'm trying Robo form, coming from 1 Password... I like how it acts on Android phone better than 1 Password... I couldn't use the in screen fingerprint reader with my Samsung phone with a screen protector on it so I'm using the face unlock and one password only trusts like iPhone and pixel phone for face unlock security... Kind of sad... So I ditched one password for that reason...
Why is it that Android just can't get password management/autofill to work as easily as what is in iOS? :( It's actually my biggest issue and why I don't switch.
It's a tool that helps you to administrate all your passwords in a secured way (they have encryption and usually a vault that you can only access with a master password). I've been researching about them quite recently and I'm considering using Bitwarden as it is the one that looks more intuitive, with a better premium price and best reviews on the internet, too.
so, you can edit and update your passwords offline... to then not be able to log into the service with the updated password... because you're offline... :D
