@@PowerModzOfficial Yeah, but you can run to town and get a can of gas. Now will you have to run to town for a generator then wait a few more hours while it charges?
I like the idea but it would need to get a minimum of 300 miles on a charge. Does that range include using heated visors, boots, charging your phone, communicators and how much does temperature affect the range. Electric cars lose massive amounts of range when they are run hard. A snowmobile is normally ridden a lot harder than a car, if ridden properly. :-) If you do run out of battery juice it would require a gas driven sled to recover it.

I mean, considering the sport it has to do with, would it be so crazy if part of the battery supply was dedicated to heating the battery? I don't know how they're going to make this work but I think a smart feature would just be a battery heater switch that you could turn on even while the sled isn't in use. It could be a low enough heat where its maybe only heating it 10-20 degrees above freezing so it retains its charge without wasting much battery life while heating. Like for instance you could stop for lunch and flip the heat on but still take the key with you so no one rides off with your sled. Because I agree. I was thinking how cool a Electric sled would be, but how would the battery hold a charge when its constantly surrounded by things that are cold. But ultimately I hope this happens, electric vehicles are cool and they are the future.
Those are some cool sleds for sure. Thought the price was around your average 2 stroke sled but then realized it's in usd not cad which is weird being a canadian company. Almost sold on one but definitely got some questions. Like what would the approximate final price be one a mountian sled version? Do they have a teather set up on them? I wont ride without one. How long till the battery starts to loose its life? Like in 2 years will it only last 80% of what it used to? Do they have scratchers for running on hard pack still to live the sliders? And one big question I have is for reservation holders when would we get to test one and where do we have to travel to test one out. I'm in middle of BC and I'm not going to travel very far to test one out. Otherwise looks like it has real potential. It would definitely be hard to out climb with a 2 stroke if it's set up right.
@@Sackmatters because you don't doesn't negate the fact that it's an issue elsewhere in the world. You have all sorts of people looking to shutdown our sport with any excuse. Take away the exhaust from a snowmobile, it's one less opportunity for them to restrict our riding spots.

Now 100/140km for trail riding? only if there are charging stations on the trail systems(Bars, Restaurants and Gas Station). If and when that occurs im in 100% The concept has finally become the real thing, wicked.
How do the batteries do in the cold? How’s the energy loss affected?
It has it's own battery heater and monitoring system so it is maintained efficiently/.
Price?
on the hill if the staging area is close your lucky too put on 100km, some days 80kms and that's a full day of riding and the tank is empty by the time you get too the truck, but that's a sweet powder pussy day! No way the electric version is good enough for mountain riding,we need better battery tech! Also ear horsepower cant be replaced on our archaic 2 strokes!! A piped 2 stroke screaming is the best feeling ever riding and watching guys climb!
I wonder how they would be on a lake all day in 40 below weather.. I am really interested how they would make out, hopefully good!👍👍
Great video, interview, and info. Wondering about impact of ambient temp on battery life.
Just needs a switch to change the acceleration when you need to smoke your buddy just like a Tesla car. It’s no joke, 180hp is there programming and there will be a ton more power if you compromise the distance. Even cummins has introduced there full electric drivetrains for the future of heavy class 4-8 trucks!
Laughing....................and next up for bidding are tickets to ride battery powered airplanes. Battery powered skidders for logging, battery powered semi tractor's and heavy farm equipment. Trappers or ice fisherman should start rethinking snowmobiling all together when these battery sleds get released to the public. What a game changer! Where can I throw my $ to get one as soon as possible?
I wonder if there will be a more Trail style 144 or less , Would love 1 for Riding up here in the Kap.
yes i believe so
Imagine running out of battery anywhere in that video. Ill stick to gas
Ive run out of gas everywhere - same thing lol
@@PowerModzOfficial Yeah, but you can run to town and get a can of gas. Now will you have to run to town for a generator then wait a few more hours while it charges?
I like the idea but it would need to get a minimum of 300 miles on a charge. Does that range include using heated visors, boots, charging your phone, communicators and how much does temperature affect the range. Electric cars lose massive amounts of range when they are run hard. A snowmobile is normally ridden a lot harder than a car, if ridden properly. :-) If you do run out of battery juice it would require a gas driven sled to recover it.
PowerModz i bring gas with me so yes i run out but im not stuck with no fuel like a battery. Plus that battery wont last long theyre rode hard which uses a shit ton of battery and if tou have heated anything plugged in and on that battery will last even less
@@s8thomp3 don't worry, just haul a battery pack around with ya on the tunnel. Now you might bend the tunnel from the weight but that's a different story 😂 I don't like this, soon other brands are gonna follow and make their lineup electric. They're already making cars lame, leave powersports out of it lol
2:36 Haha microphone battery dies proving battery stuff still sucks
Sleds dont run out of gas?
PowerModz can you charge the sled hundreds of miles into the woods?
@@canadien15farmlife58 I wonder if someone said to the person who made the first car "thats a rediculous idea, how on earth will you ever be able to get more gasoline for that over in ding dong county? That internal combustion engine will never succeed"
Awesome ! Thanks for the neat update, asking all the right questions !
That's a nice sled you should buy one and do a motor swap I'm pretty sure it needs a turbo
if it had an alternator or stator wouldn't it charge itself?
Looks very BRP inspired
not when up close to be honest.
PowerModz hopefully it works, definitely right time to become a industry leader in such a hard market, just hope it comes with a 2 stroke smoke air freshener at least lol
@@03rev440 lol i sell 2 stroke scented candles for ya!
PowerModz lol awesome
People are always reluctant to change.
Ski stance looks like itt will have to be narrowed way in for anyone too want this for back country
One of the most satisfying things on a normal snowmobile is when u wheelie in the deep snow and you can just hear the engine scream with a nice can. This just seems weird lol
maybe there will be a new cool sound?
Everyone complaining about running out of battery. How many times a day do you ride your sled 100 miles currently? Not very often. I may buy one when they come out just to have one.
I'd rather run outta gas then outta charge unless it was a lithium ion battery like off the impact drill hehe then I can have a handful of little batteries in my backpack
Depends on where you are -- no reason to run out really.
@@PowerModzOfficial I'm in north idaho up nere canada and boarding montana some of these areas are too rural for batterys..but do think the battery sleds are cool for mabe little trips around town or close to town
@@tystensland204 oh ya i think they have their place for sure, and when they come out they will drive the tech even further creating an even better product.
I enjoy working on my sled. It’s part of the whole experience.
I don't understand people owning any motorsport machines and taking it to the dealer to every maintenance. I like working on my stuff!
I agree
@PowerModz Do a 2010-2013 sno pro 500/600 mod build. theres no videos on how to mod them and it would be an awesome build for your channel and would show me how to mod mine.
It’s interesting, just have to wait and see how this evolves. 👍✌️
With a portable nuclear reactor this would be legit
The range for trail riding ain’t bad. If they shorten the charge time and the destinations get the equipment, this will work
at least 70% of the world's population love there gas engines and the sound they produce. you can never get a 8 cylinder lover to go electric. nor can you ever get kids to drop there screaming loud snow machines you can hear from 5 miles away.
Super cool been waiting on these bad boys super awesome 😎
What is the price range gonna be? 20k?
Lithium does not like cold weather I don’t know how they got around that
They have the lithium Batts wrapped in "hot hands" blankets.
They heat them.
Its the future for sure ! I want the mountain version!
This is huge, I hope these take off. We can get to a point where we don't have noise complaints closing our trails.
MrSnowrocks never in my life have I had that issue. Alaska is a whole different breed of place.
@@Sackmatters because you don't doesn't negate the fact that it's an issue elsewhere in the world. You have all sorts of people looking to shutdown our sport with any excuse. Take away the exhaust from a snowmobile, it's one less opportunity for them to restrict our riding spots.
@@hillaryclintoninalockbox and I don't live in Ontario. It's not an Ontario problem, it's an industry wide problem.
Ride in northern Ontario. A lot less complaints.
They need to let you real world test both those sleds out!
Naw Louie. Snowmobiles should burn gas and oil!!
It's cool. It really it. BUT, it weights 50 pounds more than a gas snowmobile (even when the gas snowmobile has a full tank of gas.) It has has a 60 to 80 mile range, vs a gas snowmobile has a 200 mile range. Plus with a gas snowmobile you can carry extra fuel, and many people do. Its still relatively new tech. I'll stick with my Alpha One for now.
Hate to water skip and sink on that
If it is a sealed unit it would work out great. If it sinks get a snorkel and ride it out under water.
They did - what the video on their channel its pretty cool!
Love to see them race in cains quest snowmobile endurance race
I agree ,prove how good it is like all the other brands did in the past in oval ,drags, cross country, endurance, snocross etc.
Will be great putting around with it ! Ya right .......! Couldn’t make it to the nearest lodge and back from my door without a charge and I can see all the charging stations being installed in remote areas being run by gas generators , cool concept but not practical, battery technology isn’t feasible yet .
They took the ski doo look
As much as people hate on them i think it's a wicked idea
Stance needs to be brought in make it a little skinner and bogie Wheels on the inside for the Red mountain sled but other than that they are sweet!
If you go down hill does it charge the battery at all? Or does it charge if it is getting towed or the track is spinning?
no idea
Like those batteries machine its coming
Be so weird to not hear the brapppppps, seems almost dangerous to not know if anyone else is Neer by haha
In the moutians on a good day I'll do around 150 miles if I'm riding out there and back
150 miles in the mountains....wow bud you're a beast!
