There are hundreds of people trying to sing this song and I think this is one of the best I've heard. The key is passion. Prince sings this with passion and sadness. Amazing! Sounds like Corey is yearning for Prince to be alive.
If Richie is going to leave us to do covers with Orianthi this is the way to do it. Fantastic vocals by Corey and Orianthi rocked the house. Just wish it could be like the old days ya know.
I was waiting for Orianthi to completely wreck this song and at 3:24 she didn't disappoint. This is not a metal song. Orianthi is pretty nice to look at but, she uses the same tone on everything she plays regardless of what she plays. And then, at 5:03 the whole thing just falls apart into a complete and utter mess. Two guitars players shredding leads on Purple Rain? Ffs! Corey Glover was the star of this song and these two knit wits ruined that fact.

tazz1973tazz1973 Hey ass hole I'm a life long fan of prince and I consider purple rain to be the greatest song ever written so when I hear people murdering his composition I feel a duty to say so, the singer went in with all he had from the intro and had nothing left to give to the song in places where it needed everything and the 2 guitar players where trying to solo over each other trying to make it about them and not the song it came over really bad so it's not a case of 'not having anything nice to say' it is what it is but I get it if you where there you probably got caught up in the emotion of the thing which is the magic of his work but it's made you tone deaf so you will accept any shit, I've seen prince live many times and I know, I just know that if he where still alive right now he would quietly agree with me ☔️☔️☔️☔️☔️💔💔💔💔💔🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
