    I agree with some of the other comments...blessing boxes. If they don't have any in your area, ask friends and family if they know of families in need and start a list to donate to them. Also, your local church may know of 👪 families in your community who may need assistance. I enjoyed your video. Stay safe while diving.

    Great dives. 🤗 Some recently expired foods are still good. Maybe you can find a 'Blessing Box' for some items. Thanks for sharing. Be safe. 🥳 🦃

      Thank you for watching and taking time to comment. I personally don't let the date on the package deter me from eating anything. We're searching for a blessing box or little free pantry now. We're finding so much, I hate to see it go to waste! I've gained 10 pounds since I started diving. I have no self control when it comes to sweets! We need to find a place to donate asap! lol

    Hello, came across your video and enjoyed watching. So new subscriber here. I also dumpster dive and i find a ton of snack cakes and other food. I share them with friend and family plus i have a little church in my town that is happy to take whatever I can bring them . they don't care if it's past the date. So maybe if you have a small church that has a food pantry they may take them. we also have a little free pantry in town that anyone can drop off none parish food and anyone in need can take what they need and leave the rest for others. Take care and stay safe out there..

    If It's been kept really cold all the time it's been in the dumpster and only been dumped that day you can refreeze the stuff, they say you can't refreeze ice-cream but I've had it melt in the freezer cause the door wasn't closed all the way and I just left it to freeze back up and it was fine but it was kept cold and it was only for a little while, I guess you just need to know when they through the stuff out to be safe.

    Recently expired is best buy date. They will last a lot longer. I give to a church blessing box and if I get it out of the dumpster I mark an X on the ups code. A lot of kids love them Good luck on your dives

    There is a difference between “best by date” and “expiration date”
    Even if one finds drug store/otc supplements/ meds- a pharmacist once told me that only the expiration date does not mean that the product has magically morphed into something bad. The exp date means that the manufacturer guarantees the potency till that date- like vitamin C 500 mg - after the exp ,now may be 400mg.
    As far as the snack cakes- that much preservatives and sugar makes them fairly indestructible 😂
    or one can freeze them , I’ve used Twinkies as the sponge cake / for fruit short cake .
    One can make a large sheet pan desert for a pot luck

      i've heard that about meds and vitamins. after a nuclear war there will only be cockroaches and snack cakes that survive!

    Trust yourself: use your eyes 👀, your nose 👃 and at least your tongue 😛 to taste if any food is still eatable. Every company has just one interest to get more money and even if some stuff is still good they only make money on selling more of the new one. And the egg test works as I can tell you by practicing it for years.
    I like the way you present your items and just subscribed to your channel. Greetings from Berlin Germany 👍💖

    put those recently expired items in the freezer. I would have checked the ice cream to make sure it was thawed.

    Homeless Shelter for the snack cakes?

    • @dumpsterjohnny
      @dumpsterjohnny  Год назад

      We live in a small town and aren't any nearby homeless shelters. There is a local church that runs a food pantry for people in need in our community. That's where the majority of my food donations go. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment!

    Why does it matter what we think about expired stuff you're the one found it it's what you think about it that really matters I think so much of that prepackaged stuff has so many preservatives in it it'll probably last longer than we will live we're eating lots of expired stuff in my lifetime it's never killed me

    • @dumpsterjohnny
      @dumpsterjohnny  2 года назад

      Curiosity. I was just wondering.I agree with you, most food has so many preservatives it's likely to never go bad .

    Ask other people. Something is better than nothing. I’m sure you can find someone who could use them. I’d e at them if it was clean and unopened. I’ve never seen your videos before. So guess you’re new at it. Hang in there. You’ll find takers and people in need.
