I'm watching this video while I wait for the holidays in 2023. I feel the same way about the sadness that comes from thinking about all those foods we eat at the holidays. We must mourn the things we did and ate before healing our addiction. letting go of the person we were. Greetings from Argentina.
Very well said mj8gu8w6m! The holidays have a deeper meaning and are more fun when not obsessing about food! New traditions, and new healthy recipes in accordance with our food plans help us move into who we were always meant to be! Wishing you happy holidays! Nancy D., Gratefully Recovering Food Addict
Hi Nancy! I tried to listen to OA podcasts but the three speakers I tried to listen to spoke so quickly they drove me nuts and couldn’t continue after a few minutes. Came BACK TO YOUR CHANNEL. I enjoy your content, sincerity and have a calming effect on me. Thanks for your vids, I’m looking forward to more.🌸👌🙏
Nancy Delle Femine hello! Thank you so much for your kind reply & feedback. Would it be too time consuming & cumbersome to show us what you would eat at your three different meals in one day? I feel this would inspire me to do a little more shopping and preparing of my food as I keep it simple...too simple. At most I cook egg whites and fry turkey bacon. I know showing us how you cook or prepare the food wouldn’t work but maybe a “what do I eat in a typical abstinent day” video would be super cool. Thanks again! I look forward to all your new video content.
@@1967lovechild Good idea! I have made a couple of videos on my food plan but I could go into more detail! Thanks for the input Maria! Take good care! Nancy D.
Cheryl Rose lol. I soooo need to get my head & heart back into OA. The only true success I’ve had losing weight (44 lbs in 5 months) is in this program with a strict sponsor.🎈♥️🥰
I'm binge watching your videos and I am very grateful for the options you are providing - thank you. We have an Uncle "Ben" - I appreciate your advice about dealing with his choices!
Thank you so much, for this. I just went back to OA last night. I left over a year ago, thinking I can do it myself... lol Anyhow in the past week I came to the realization that I simply had to cut out sugar and flour. I selected a plan from Dignity of Choice, bought what I needed after the meeting and prepped my food for today. And today I’m abstinent, day 1. However I started fretting about my timing and having started this right before the holidays kick in. Thank you so much for this video because I can see that it is possible to stay in plan.
Fran your timing is perfect! You'll have yourself detoxed and on a healthy eating path before the "season of eating" begins! That's what I call the time between Halloween and Easter! You'll be amazed how the holidays will be so much easier to handle this year when you're not consuming your 'alcoholic' foods! Instead of worrying should I eat this, how much is too much, and then beating yourself up later! You'll simply follow your nutritious, balanced meal plan and feel good, every day, mind body and soul! You'll have the energy to do all you want to do, you'll have the patience needed with the kids or that difficult relative! You'll have room in your head and your heart to appreciate the real meaning of the season! Take it slow and enjoy the holidays this year!
Hi, loving your videos. When you talk of your past food hell. What was it like for you?? Have you got a video on here talking of your addiction & how it affected your life? X
I prefer to talk about the solution, not the problem. But for example, I took a walk yesterday and saw families enjoying themselves on the beach and I remembered back before recovery I could never have a relaxing, happy afternoon like that. Food, my drug/medication for my fear, stress, and unhappiness always utmost on my mind, always obsessing. What would I take to the beach to eat, what would I pick-up on the way home. Did I have the foods I needed for the latest diet? Would I be able to stick to it? I'm not in a good mood what can I use/eat to make myself feel better? I was never present for my family because of my eating/food obsession! I wasn't comfortable in my clothes never feeling good about myself. I couldn't wait to get home and be alone with my drug of choice/food! I ate because I was unhappy, I was unhappy because I overate, a real vicious cycle! In recovery, I can now live a full life happy, joyous, and free from food addiction! I thoroughly enjoyed my walk yesterday! All the best to you on your recovery journey Jane j!
