  • Config 2024: How to build for, and with, Gen Z (Jiaona Zhang, CPO, Linktree)
Gen Z are the first truly digitally native generation. Having grown up in a world of hyper-connectivity, personalization and overstimulation, they have radically different expectations of products. On the one hand, there is less tolerance for friction than ever before, while on the other, there is an appreciation of a more ‘low-fi’ approach to building in public. From consumer and enterprise products to marketplaces and games, we’re seeing a transformational shift in the interfaces and stories that resonate. Join Linktree CPO Jiaona “JZ” Zhang to learn how product leaders at every stage are thinking about building with, not just for, Gen Z.
    Featuring: Jiaona Zhang, CPO, Linktree

This was a very cool talk, the best part is how building for Gen Z also resonates with other generations , I totally agree

This presentation is valuable in terms of who currently understands current tech and will easily adapt to future tech.
But, the presenter lacks deep knowledge of usability testing and the value it brings. And, the presenter also lacks knowledge regarding Gen Alpha’s understanding of current technologies. Gen Alpha is the true native user of said technologies, so our focus should not only be on the younger Gen Zers, but also on Gen Alpha. I’m currently working with Gen Alpha and I’m familiar with how these young children are capable of designing and developing gaming applications. Which is why I say they are the true native users of our current and future technologies.

Are Gen Z really cynical or unpolished? Maybe about things that are external, such things as climate, politics, society, and family values. They try hard to be liberal in a conservative environment. Everyone now likes to have contrarian opinions. But, more often than not, these opinions are forced, lack depth, uninformed and often arise due to buried insecurities.
