    Regarding the second image you worked on of the green heron, had you right-clicked on the image instead of using the File menu to bring it over to Topaz AI, you would have been asked if you wanted to send the image over to Topaz with Lightroom adjustments. If you had done that, the image would have opened in Topaz as it appeared in Lightroom. I know there are some disadvantages to sending a Lightroom-adjusted photo over to Topaz that way, especially in the way the image is saved and sent back to Lightroom, but at least the image would have opened in Topaz as you would have hoped it would.

      This is a must. You can't work on a dark image in Photo AI. I don't see / know of a downside to how image is saved back to LR.

    Thank you for your great tutorials. I'm sure by now you have discovered that Topaz AI needs to be listed asan External Editor in Preferences after which it's available in Photo/Edit In coice or Ctrl+Alt+E. A dialog will pop up that gives you 3 choices, including "Edit with Lightroom Adjustments." Cheers!

    Thank you for another great video. It is greatly appreciated. You are my go-to for photo editing.

    I believe that an image that is edited in lightroom, then sent to Photo AI needs to be sent by going to LR by using photo>edit in>edit with LR edits. At that point the edited photo will be sent to Photo AI

    Thanks for the video. Are these two new upscaling models the same ones as Gigapixel AI? I wonder if this Photo AI update is basically putting the software on par with Gigapixel 7.

    For the green heron edit, I'm not sure I understand why you use Plug-in Extras... Process with Topaz Photo AI. If you right-click on the image in the Develop tab and select Edit in... Topaz Photo AI, Lightroom sends the corrected and cropped version of the image to Topaz Photo AI. If the original image was underexposed and you've corrected exposure and cropped in Lightroom, the CORRECTED image is sent, you can see what you're doing, and you don't lose the edits you've already made. What is the advantage of your approach, where Lightroom sends the uncorrected version?

    • @kaib1340
      @kaib1340 3 месяца назад

      The advantage is with the first method you get a dng-photo back in LR which is editable almost like the raw you sent over.

      @@kaib1340 I guess I've always been happy with the TIFF file that's returned to Lightroom after using the Edit with... approach. After I import an image into Lightroom, I do whatever edits that are best done on the RAW file, then use the Edit with... technique when and if I need help from Topaz. I've never felt limited by the edits I can do on the Topaz-processed TIFF image. The Lightroom -> Topaz -> Lightroom combination (plus, on rare occasions, some spot edits with Photoshop) has been a very workable workflow for me. And my workflow avoids the problem demonstrated by Mr. Morganti's green heron example: I don't have to reapply initial edits like cropping when Topaz returns the image to Lightroom.

      @@larryc43230yes, everybody has it's own workflow. And that's good! However the dng file leaves you more flexabilities.

    Hi, does anyone else experience bad results in Photo AI regarding denoise? My photos are all blotchy. Also Sharpen is doing a bad job. Even when I turn down Sharpen manually it is over sharpened. The crux is this is only visible when back in LR. In Photo AI it looks fine. I have reinstalled Photo AI but no improvement...

    Thanks for the update. I shoot with the OMDS OM-1 and EM1- Mark II. When I invoke Photo AI from Lightroom Using the File Plug In Extras there is a distinct green color shift. If I take the ORF files directly into Photo AI there does not appear to be any color shift. Have you noticed this with your Nikon files?

    I tried to use photo AI multiple occasions even with upgrades, though I tried 2.3. The problem with photo AI is that it gives too much color noise even if you turn down sharpening or dennoise. My opinion is, it’s not usable. I am very happy with using three old apps. I do like gigapixel 7

  • @donsmith2833
    @donsmith2833 3 месяца назад +1

    The big question: does it fully replace all the other apps? Can we get rid of Gigapixel, etc?

    Thanks for more great content. Why don’t you just right click the edited image in LR and send with LR adjustments to topaz? No way I’m doing it the hard way. At the time I decide I need to send it I want to send what and where I am on the image process.

    My results on the blurry patch were different than yours. I have an decades old photo scanned as a jpeg. Despite the several updates and my reporting to Topaz, I still have the a sharp image on most of a person's head. The rest of it is still blurry.

    Echoing what others have asked, how does upscaling in the latest version of Photo AI compare to Gigapixel 7?

    V2.3 hasn't fixed my issues with the removal tool. I'm running windows 11. The brush doesn't work, trying subject detect doesn't work and most of the time when I click on the removal tool I get the spinning hourglass for about 5 minutes and I have to shut down Topaz. Frustrating.

    Not sure that the cost for a new license ($199) is worth it for my workflow. Can't upgrade without it.

    • @bruceatkinson932
      @bruceatkinson932 3 месяца назад

      If I understand correctly, you don’t need to buy a new license. Try going into your account and look at your purchases. For me, it showed that my upgrade license has expired and all I needed to do to get v2.3 was to pay $99 to renew for another 12 months. The problem is that Topaz doesn’t exactly make this clear.

    For m y Real Estate 360 images, don't made a WOW! job. So is not at this point an app that is a must have it!

  • @wardrill933

    I don't think its good or bad, the problem is there mobile apps that are cheaper of free that would achieve same or even better results. And for the price of this software its not for me. I expected a lot more features including bringing colours back to old photos.
