I have just got the A7iv and love it. I got to replace my A7C, but in the end kept that as a second/back-up body. I am using the A7iv for video and photography. I video steam trains and music recitals, and photograph products, wildlife, landscapes and general travel. The A7iv seems good for all my requirements. I originally got the A7C over the A7iii because I wanted the flip screen when vlogging - but really the A7iv is better in every area. I particularly like the 33Mp images (great to crop wildlife images), the 10 bit video, touch screen and much better viewfinder.
Oh yeah the A7iv is an improvement for sure, I’ve got a video uploading tonight (in an hour) on the topic actually, although I’m not upgrading, it is a great camera. My problem is I have two camera systems, one mainly for landscape photography, the other for video. So my next upgrades will probably be specialised in those areas.
LOL at the new body. Hey, don't pretend that light going out wasn't a sneaky way to get longer view time by making people go back to see if they could find the moment the light went off. Still I got a strange sense of satisfaction when I found it. 4:40.
I can't believe I wasted holiday time watching this. Good video as always man. Commenting and liked to support the channel, cause you're ok in my books
hi Mr. Barron. Hope u doing well. As I told u on your previous video, yes I'm waiting for this one. May be within 10/12 days it'll be available in Bangladesh. I watch u, waiting for next "10 reason to buy/not to buy a7iv" video. You will reach 100k soon. Cause your topics, lightning, video, the way you present everything are awesome. I've been watching u since June or July may be. Good luck.
I'd like to. My eventual kit would be an A7 iv and an A1 but right at the moment I have the A7iii. I figure I'll sort my lens collection out and then upgrade bodies. Hopefully by that stage the A7iv might be around 3k aud. I have the 24-70 GM, 70-200GM, 24-105G, 200-600G and the new Sigma 85 Art. Lens collection needs the 35GM, 50 1.2 and the 135 1.8. Have you used any of those 3 lenses?
@@BingsGarage that’s awesome, man the A1 is a dream camera for me. I haven’t used those primes you mentioned, I’m sure they’re all damn sharp though. The only prime I still had is the 85mm 1.8
I’m a street photographer and currently own the a7iii and the a1. I love the dedicated exposure compensation dial on both of them. I know the dial is now a multi use one. However, I like seeing the numbers on the dial. It’s such a time saver which is invaluable when shooting street. I’m grappling with whether to get the a7iv or not. It would be nice to have cameras with the same menu system. Do you think that dial would be easy to get used to? Thanks for the great video.
Thanks for watching mate. I can kinda relate, I think the dial is great for additional customisability but with the downside that you can’t quickly see what the exposure compensation is set to, but I think the benefit outweighs that negative
Well as the new proud owner of the A7IV, received it yesterday, I’m pretty confident it will outshine my A7III in many ways. I feel it’s a good compromise between the A7III and A7RIV for resolution for photography, and with some updates that will be handy for new few years such as improved AF, body and custom buttons as you say. I think If my A7III wasn’t nearly 4 years old and I wasn’t using it everyday, I’d be reluctant to “upgrade” as it’s in perfect working order and gets the job done. Great summary mate, will be very useful for people considering to purchase the A7IV.
I think if I was getting into Sony for the first time Id get the IV. If I had a III I don’t think I’d upgrade like you Rauri. Thanks for sharing the video mate 🙏
Yeah definitely! Thanks Adrian for watching. I’m thinking for my next upgrades I’m gunna go for more specific uses, so for my stills … an A7r, for video… A7s (if I can afford) 😂
The Sony A7IV is really the Ideal camera for me, it just didn't come out soon enough, got a great deal on my A7III and I love it. I do both Video and Photography. I just needed a camera when I did, unfortunate. But I like to watch products for a solid 6 months to see the quirks and things people say(like you!🤙) before I invest in a piece of gear. Thank you so much for you insight. I will be waiting for your next video, later creator!
Man, this video was super insightful but I'm still wondering if I should get it. I started as a canon kid and had the canon SL2 (200 D) until June and wanted to upgrade I'd been saving for a while and wanted to move to sony and go full-frame... Idk if I should just get the A7III or some other sony camera or go all the way and get the A7IV since I do mostly photography but also wanted to try a bit more filming and start streaming a bit more (This would be my first Sony camera as well)
Thanks mate 😃 Is the price different between A7iii and A7iv much where you are? Here in Aus it’s like $1,500-2,000 difference which is too much for me. If you’re going into the Sony world brand new I’d recommend the A7iv to future proof it, get some nice tamron lenses and you’re set for years!
Sony also made this camera to compete against Z6ii, R6 and S1. As a7iii is showing its age now and cannot be considered a competition anymore. Very soon Sony will also release a7RV to compete against R5 and a9iii to compete against R3.
@@RauriBarron I don't think that camera is an enthusiast or a consumer product anymore. & Professionals don't choose specific cameras, they choose systems and stay in it for years. When I say competition, I mean to not let your buyers thinking of jumping camera systems. On that regards a7IV delivers.
The A7IV to me just a real joke bait and switch. It should be 2,000. The A7C should be 1,500 really get hurting fujifilm. But of course unfortunately with this crazy inflation and the parts are very scarce for Sony in particular. They are having a very difficult time. At least Sony gave a new sensor.
Hahaha I think the Sony execs should be embarrassed after seeing this - so much thought and insight Rauri. In the meantime their executive meeting went along the lines of: CEO: so why should we make an A7iv? Senior VP: we’ll make a truckload of money sir CEO: woohoo….let’s do it 😂😂😂😂 Great video mate - love the farting graphic especially - so useful as my left eye was almost asleep following that light switch off
Hi I would love to hear your advice here. I have a nikon d5100 (I bought it around 11 years ago) and I want to make an upgrade. I consider myself an amateur photographer, I do mostly photography and I am starting to dive into videography. I am more into street phorography and portraits, I am trying to make it my career in the near future. I have a 50mm lens that does not have an auto focus and it has been a torture for me. Will the sony a7IV be a good upgrade for me? I'm hesitant because of the price. but i feel like if i get it it is going to make a HUGE difference and less frustration over lost shots because of the focus and wasted time changing settings. I'm currently trying to decide to either : 1) get the sony a7iv , 2) get a nikon dslr such as the d850, 3) get a better lens with autofocus im not sure which is the best for me, any advice?
It is for me. The ideal setup for mixing photo and video. Thanks for this video! Loving my a7iv
It’s a great hybrid that’s for sure!
Wow amazing review great sharing love from Hong Kong

Is the A7IV good for wildlife photography too? Thanks
The AF is great for wildlife. The only downside is if you usually utilise more than 10FPS shooting, but it’s usually more than enough
Good epiade and iagre wtih you. The A7IV is somewhat difficult to fit in. Nice animations how did you create those?
Thanks mate! Text animations, I have a few templates with I just edit. Other graphics I use pngs/gifs and screen subtract etc
