Loved the jackets very smart especially the black one. My dad’s car insurance was the same sky high he’s 94 says this is his last year of driving, he doesn’t go far at all just to his club and shopping so not doing thousands of miles. My brother got on to them and got in down by £350 so worth a try for sure. X
I love your videos because they are natural and are what makes you channel so relaxing to watch and you have it just right. The feeling that its friends chatting over a cuppa and one of your delicious cakes makes it unique and so enjoyable. Lots of chuckles too. Please don't change what is really lovely. Thank you for including your lovely family too. ❤
Those sweater jackets are all the thing here in the US too - called "Lady Jackets" here! I like the fit of the black one. I have to say, I would put M&S merino wool up against most of the cashmere you get here in the US. The quality of the M&S is superb, and lasts years, doesn't pill, whereas I have cashmere that I have purchased here that looks pretty bad after one season, and is so thin. Love the white jacket with the white skirt - such a good look.
Hi Helen. I too have had the same experience with Marks and their security tag. I ordered some items on line as I wasn't able to get my size in my nearest store, one of which was a rather expensive blouse. It was when I was taking it off I discovered the tag in the armpit area! It meant having to travel approx 15 miles to my nearest store to have it removed. Obviously I explained to the assistant what had happened and she did apologise but it makes a mockery of ordering on line. You would gave thought that they would have a checked before it left the warehouse Not a happy bunny!
Beautiful video. I have the crew neck merino wool jumper and it's brilliant, just the right weight. Wore it in cooler weather with a longer sleeved tee shirt and as it gets warmer I'll switch to a vest tee shirt. Alway been a m&s fan, even when I was a teen. Theirs and next basics are fantastic value.
I bought a jacket in M and S which I wore to Spain for Christmas. I wandered around the duty free, through two security areas ( here in and in Spain) only to hear my friend ask as she met me at the gate why was there a security tag on my coat!! To say I was mortified is an understatement 🤭!
Hi Helen. You’re so right about the Mediterraneans changing their wardrobes according to the season as opposed to the temperature! Here in Greece it’s currently around 26 degrees and folk are still in gilets and sweatshirts! 😅I do think Marks and Spencer have excellent basics but we don’t seem to have the same pieces on the Greek site as the ones on the U.K. one.
The Merino jumper is beautiful and I adore the colour. M&S here I come. Go camel for the cardi. I think also that M&S have excelled this year. I turned 77 last birthday and my car insurers who I have been with so many years have doubled my insurance. Checked with other companies who have done the same. All for a couple of thousands miles a year. When it comes to travel, live in South Wales and I love train travel. But, even with my rail card it is £119 return to Heathrow. Flying Heathrow to Madrid is cheaper. I have gone on a bit here but Helen don't put yourself down. The numbers show we love your channel as it is. HB. 🌼
Hi Helen, your “Best” is “Excellent” and you are so appreciated doing what you do. Loved the short cardigans and so versatile with skirts, dresses and trousers. Looking forward to your next haul…..how about a tour of your garden one day or a book review! 🏴xx
I prefer the cream cardigan, and I think it'll be useful in summer and autumn. I got a classic black merino wool polo neck in M & S, a very useful staple item. Would you consider a haul from Lands End, Matalan or Bon Marche ?
Hello Helen, your honesty and integrity is what keeps your hells bells and supporters coming back every day..love the v neck jumpers and the skirts.the cream cardigan is stunning.
Love the knitwear on you. For me unfortunately just too short, I’d spend all my time pulling them down. I’ve found myself lately wanting to shout out “Can I have the rest of my top please?” 😂
Everything looks very smart and you suited the short cardigan, I liked both the black and white, wee Dolly is so cute. I hade a friend who came to a workmates birthday party with a beautiful pink wool coat from M&S, she had bought it online and the security tag had been left on. She had worn it a few times while out shopping and went through the security doors and it had never went off 😂❤x
HB Love the jacket. They look great concern for me is how short. But I feel I might send for it. Even the merino wool jumper looks short. Think I’m just insecure as that’s where my bumpy bits are! I would never normally look at the jackets so thanks great to see. The Ferry prices are ridiculous I agree. I’ve loved my finery skirts just sorting an outfit for a Karl Jenkins concert then Sunday a Mama Mia broadway dinner. It’s all going on in the midlands!!!! Xx
Hi, Helen. Loved the video, as always. I so look forward to all your videos. Loved the black "Chanely" jacket and skirt combo in particular, but all of the outfits looked sharp. Thanks so much for all you do. I can't imagine the hard work you put into it. I appreciate it so much. Take care. XXX Maryfrances
It’s only 4 Celsius here in Canada today. The white sweater and the beige sweater are beautiful. Love them. That’s absurd prices for your mom on car insurance. It just keeps going up and up here. I love the cardigan in the black too
Lovely merino knitwear. Can’t beat it for warmth but so fine and great for this time of the year. I admit to having some that I bought years and years ago, nay ….decades ago, but classic designs and still as good as new! The jacket/cardigan is a real winner, a real gem but I do wonder if the sleeves are going to be too long for me. Well, the only way is to try!xx Liz
Hi Helen, lovely to see you as always . Loved the knitwear especially the Chanel style cardigans, love the content of your videos too!! Thank you for sharing, take care 💜 XX
Hi Helen, I have had the same issue with security tags, had to return twice!! Frustrating. I think an ivory cardigan/jacket is always handy for all occasions, equally I love the black cardigan. Both keepers, definately. M & S have some really classy colours in this type of lightweight jumper. I have seen someone match the cardigans in these colours to make a twin set!! I also think you have matched everything beautifully Helen. Thanks for sharing, take care xx
As always Helen your vlog make me smile. The cardigans were spot on and the beige jumper as well. Regarding spring and weather, last week we had sun and over 10 C. This monday we had 30 cm snow, and more yesterday. Monday next week will be sunny and 15 C. April is "fun"❤
Wow those cardigans look fabulous, as do the jumpers, I really do think m&s have improved and the prices are reasonable nowadays. You have great style, maybe another mix and match video for a capsule wardrobe or packing lighter for a holiday.
Parts of Scotland have had fresh snow today, so we're still in winter woollies up here. Imo you can never have too much cashmere. Love the first 2 items.
Helen, Could I suggest a Mango or Zara haul as future brands to try? There was a discussion this week on Radio 4 about the cost of Isle of Wight ferries. A man was charged £300 return. He said if you have a hospital appointment or a resident, there are big reductions. Your Mum might already know about this. Thank you
Yes, my family on the island all have 'multilink' tickets but they are not available for us on the mainland, sadly xx PS: They were asking for £149 one way yesterday! Ridiculous.
I use Gutermann Maraflex thread to alter knits. You can sew a straight seam on your sewing machine to turn up a hem and the thread has enough stretch so the stitches don’t pop.
I'm very late with this comment so I hope you will still see it. The little black cardigan looks so good on you and I often wish you would go for a size smaller, this example just meshed my thoughts. Please keep trying the smaller size options because I think they are very flattering on you! 😊
Lovely haul. Especially loved the ‘Chanel-y’ cardi. I bought a beautiful striped one from H&M. They’re very classy I think. Car insurance has gone crazy. My cheapest quote was from my last years insurer and it went up by £100 to over £600. I was getting crazy quotes of over £1500! I used to pay around the £200 mark. If it goes up any more next year that’ll be me giving up driving. Apparently it’s to do with the high repair costs of electric cars and also the high cost of parts which are difficult to source these days.
Excellent haul Helen. Loved the black and white/cream skirt, cream cardigan with your gorgeous black boots. But everything was really lovely on you. Like the black cardigan too! Thank you for sharing Helen 😊❤x
First let me say I just loved everything you wore on this video, lovely.I never see fine Merino wool sweaters here in NYC,but I have a few Merino wool Aran sweaters, and love those.I don’t really think there is much of a place for thin sweaters here,as it goes from very cold,to very hot,and humid. There is a NY thing, similar to Brits ripping off their clothes when they see the sun,if it’s 13 C in October, every one is in down coats, hats, and boots,if it’s 13C in March they are in shorts,T-shirts,and sandals,in all my years in America,I will never understand it.
I sew with knits and don’t have a cover stitch machine but the twin needle hemming does work with care. The twin needles must be for stretch or jersey fabric with a rounded end to part the fabric not pierce. You should set a longish stitch length (I use 3), lower the tension slightly and sew slowly. If you have a dual feed or walking foot attachment for your machine this really is a game changer. It ensures the fabric feeds evenly. I know you are an experienced sewer and a cover stitch machine would be useful but I have been sewing knits for many years and my machine has always coped well with hems etc. I would look at buying a walking foot before a cover stitch. It comes in useful on all sorts of awkward fabrics. X
Ah, thank you. I have ordered the Maraflex thread so that will be interesting but I'm still foxed by the twin needle. I did buy the needle for stretch fabric and I do have a walking foot, so I will give that a go. Thank you very much xx
Loved the smaller cardi...more like a little jacket! Have you tried Dunnes Stores...some very reasonable pieces and their homeware is lovely . Thanks for sharing x
Hi Helen . That’s so weird , I bought a similar navy jacket from sainsburys last week , love it , need to change the buttons . I liked the look with the skirt on you , & with the boots 👍. I’m going to make the rhubarb & apple crumble , plus the toast , as I’ve got 3 of my grandchildren coming to stay . Love all your tips on cooking & clothing . That is very expensive for a foot passenger , I thought you meant by car 🤷♀️. 😘

Hi Helen wow what lovely knitwear. I loved the cream card I/jacket wow looked fab. Loved also the soft camel Marino. You really do get some beautiful clothes. Just have to say your hair is looking amazing. What a lovely cut you had this time. Always looks good but this time is exceptional. Thanks Helen. Take care. Love to your mum bless her ❤
Try Mariflex thread - has a slight stretch and you can just sew a straight stitch on a stretch fabric. Do two parallel rows if you want the coverstitch look.
Helllooo Helen,😃you said it's still cold well we had a fair bit of snow I Kinross today , Roll on May, the white cadi you could wear anyware it's a keeper, both jumpers looked classy , Its quite scary the price of car insurance as like your mum I only do a very low milage, and no accidents does not seem to make any difference, enjoy your weekend❤
Cream cardigan is lovely. On another matter Helen what clothes steamer do you use? If only we could shove ourselves in the tumble dryer and come out wrinkle free.
Loved all the looks ….the black jacket really suits you. I got my renewal quote for car insurance £728 I was horrified. Did comparison quotes and got it for £350 . Worth shopping around for sure xx
Loved the cardi, navy jumper and that gorgeous satin skirt. Same here Helen, I live in Cornwall this last week has been torrential and the tourists are in their shorts, flip flops and sat with their wind breaks! Oh desr😂
Good for you for not compromising your relationship with your viewers. Trust takes many months to build, but can be lost in the blink of an eye.

Thank you and you xx
Hi Helen, another great haul. Loved all the knitwear very classy. Xx
Thanks so much 😊 xx
Cream cardigan is lovely. On another matter Helen what clothes steamer do you use? If only we could shove ourselves in the tumble dryer and come out wrinkle free.
Haha, now that would be good!
This is the one I use: amzn.to/3TNMXTe, but this one looks good too, and has a decent size tank: amzn.to/49vc96R. xx
Loved all the looks ….the black jacket really suits you. I got my renewal quote for car insurance £728 I was horrified. Did comparison quotes and got it for £350 . Worth shopping around for sure xx
Mum is still looking but it is very expensive on every site.... xx
@@Helenmaryjo have you tried adding another driver (preferably retired) to the policy. That brought my price down xx
