you’d should do a video about “rival” parks like hershey and great adventure, universal disney and sea world in orlando, bgw and KD etc... idk how it would work exactly but maybe like the history of them
thank god velocicoaster wasn’t a b&m hyper. i mean, b&m hypers are great, i’ve ridden nitro and mako and loved both, but they have *nothing* on velocicoaster. the only coaster that even competes with velocicoaster for my #1 is el toro, which has been by favorite coaster since i first rode it at my home park. i have a ton of rides on toro and only one on velocicoaster, so it’s hard to tell which i like more. but yeah, velocicoaster is better than any b&m hyper and i’m so glad we got it
Most coasters ideas that are scrapped are done so for a good reason in my opinion. The only one that I am really bummed out the never happened was the RMC conversion of Boss. It may happen again in the future but they atleast put the idea on hold.
Boss is too good/new to be RMC'd yet. Once it's too rough for the GP to make the queue long it will be RMC'd, but doubtful that will happen as it is usually the longest line at St. Louis.
I get it, Boss fans, its an awesome coaster and all, but let's be honest: The Boss is already a shadow of its former self, whith the removed helix and the midcourse brakes stopping it in its tracks. It's the most obvious RMC candiate out there.
@@gemmachaos I'm not arguing that point. I'm looking at it from a purely financial standpoint. Until the GP stop standing in line it doesn't "need" replaced. As much as we would all love another RMC, removing The Boss doesn't make sense until the GP stop riding it. Can't find figures but it likely cost 5-8 million to build The Boss, throwing even more money at a single ride for one of the lowest attendance Six Flags likely wouldn't bring in a ton of people. Currently they would be better off with a new coaster that doesn't replace a current coaster. Either way if a coaster is removed we all know Ninja is much worst then The Boss and not popular with the GP so that's the one that would get replaced first from a business perspective.
Some other cool concepts that never were that I can think of: -Kennywood Terrain RMC to replace the log flume in the valley behind where steel curtain is now, but they were unable to secure building permits with their city (would have went over historic buildings) -Alton Towers possibly terrain Hyper CCI/GCI, not too much is known here but there’s a huge valley in the park that they almost put in this massive terrain woodie. Maybe something like Wood Coaster @ Knight Valley or Python in Bamboo Forest but better. -Cedar Point Floorless to come close to the inversion record? Before maverick, B&M was in the running to replace the swan boats that sat where Maverick sits now. Safe to say everyone is glad at the final outcome. -SFMM prefab: not as many legs to this one but it’s safe to say if not for the 2008 financial crisis and six flags’ bankruptcy Apocalypse likely would have been an intamin prefab woodie like El Toro, after the success it had. -Were still waiting to see if CGA will ever build the B&M hyper coaster and wing coaster according to various plans they have put out. Maybe even an RMC grizzly, we will have to wait and see. -I believe Kings Island and SFFT were both looking to build a clone of either the Coney Island cyclone or a different clone of a similarly old coaster that was once relevant to their areas, maybe one that used to be at the Coney Island in Cincinnati? -Heide Park Intamin Giga: There’s a video of this one somewhere (there are many of the coasters I’ve listed so far) and it basically seems like they wanted to outdo millennium force in the mid 2000s. Not sure what came of it but we got desert race not long after.
-Oh also the Michigan’s Adventure Morgan hyper, just like Mamba or Steel Force. Imagine a Morgan hyper running parallel to shivering timbers LOL -RMC Boss also got seemingly decently far into development but was ultimately tossed after six flags deemed it too expensive to use all of the Boss’ existing structure. I believe the plan was the use the old layout without the first big turnaround, which would have been a bit disappointing. Instead it’s been retracked several times including completely redoing the final helix, isn’t it just a turnaround now?
A coaster that I wish was built was the B&M invert planned to open at Animal Kingdom at Disney World. It would intertwine with the castle the ride took place in and would feature an encounter with a 30 foot tall dragon animatronic. I can’t believe Michael Eisner decided to build Dinoland U.S.A. instead of the Beastly Kingdom (the area where the coaster would take place in)
Depending on the year this was proposed, it may have been canceled because Montu was very close and is probably better than any invert Disney could have whipped up
Fun fact: The Kentucky Kingdom raptor ended up going to Silverwood as Stunt Pilot. I've heard they also got it for a really good price. Presumably cause RMC wanted to put it somewhere and they have a really good reputation with Silverwood. But yeah, I'm glad Silverwood got that instead of KK.
Pour one out for the arrow killer 😭 if only they had landed it. Also the reason the fishhook coaster was canceled was because of backlash over the usual noise issues from residents in the area as well as the city council.
Bro I kinda stopped watching coaster stuff cuz it wasn’t interesting anymore but Im going to kings island in like a week so im kinda getting more interested again and I started watching your videos again. Cool video tho
So the Strat coaster is an interesting one, Alan Schilke talks about it in the history of arrow doc ACE did, Arrow was banking on that going through. What stopped it was city officials concern over noise, which is why in some of the renders you see an enclosed car. Still wasn't enough to get approved and shortly after the 2nd vote on the ride not passing Arrow filed for bankruptcy. Not to say that its the sole reason for arrows downfall, Ron Toomer is great but coat hangers can only get you so far for so long.
Stratosphere fish hook was canceled because the city council wouldn’t approve it citing potential noise complaints from residents. Arrow was heavily invested in this prototype design and part of their bankruptcy was due to this canceled project and losing all of their development money for it.
The Bigger One, a 300+ft Intamin Accelerator at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. It was going to go out of the park boundaries, over the road and out over the sea. I really wish it would have been built, at least we’d have a giga sized coaster over here (and it’s my home park so I’m being greedy).
I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t interested in that centrifuge coaster lol it honestly looks terrifying and stomach wrenching… better bring the barf bag cause it could get ugly.
If you ever do a part 2 to this video, you should talk about lake monster at Darien lake. Back in 2013 I think, when Herschend managed the park, they proposed an inverting wooden coaster named lake monster. It’s believed it would be some kind of conversion of predator. I’m guessing RMC would’ve been the manufacturer as outlaw run had just been built and lightning rod came a few years later. I’ve heard from some local enthusiasts that the project was shut down by the town board, because RMC was a new company at the time without much experience, though I haven’t been able to find any proof of that. Shortly after, Herschend got rid of the park, so for me it’s sorta sad to imagine what could be.
I think I know one park that can make a candy theme park, and I can confidently say after the last installment of “theming” it’s a great thing there’s not candy themed rides.
The info on the fish book is wrong. Yes arrow was going bankrupt. However it was actually the city that rejected the idea. Basically coasters are paid kinda like contracts so if the fish hook got approved it wouldve probably saved arrow temporary as they would've gotten paid before they started construction. However it's tough to say cause if they did build it they would've had to have zero problems and issues during construction for them to stay afloat. Anything goes wrong and that's money they don't have to fix it. Similar to X² situation when it was being built.
Tbh from a perspective on what the general public wants, a b&m hyper for Islands of adventure would have been more profitable since they can be marketed as giant 200 foot monsters, not to mention high capacity and as theme park crazy once said “you could never go wrong with a b&m hyper”, that said I’m glad that velocicoaster was built since it’s my number one coaster but it would be more smart to place a b&m.
The GP wants family rides, they don't want any coasters beyond stuff like Hagrids. This shows when you visit Sea World and their best coaster Mako is walk on all day.
@@supremefan not true from my experience, I’ve been to sea world Orlando before and mako had the second longest line in the park, first being the rapids
@@supremefan also you are right about the gp wanting more tamer experiences but b&m hypers are just that, compared to intense thigh crushers like intimidator 305, b&ms are the more tolerable option for the public, this is shown through the skyrush and candymonium dynamic.
I am trying to get over my fear of roller coasters so I wanna do a Vr roller coaster to try to get over it then go on a actually one. Is this a good idea?
I used to be scared too. In this case, the best way to get over it would be to actually ride one. Don't start with anything that has insane stats, work your way up and start with traditional coasters. Long or hilly, those types are still a blast. Then move on to one with a single or double loop. A lot of people poo-poo boomerang models, but they're really good for younger or more timid riders. Once you've fallen in love with a looper you're golden and can try any coaster you like.
I’m glad we got VelociCoaster instead of the hyper, though that is interesting.
First reply
Velocicoaster is awesome. But for a person like me, I’d perfer the hyper lol.
yep, hyper at seaworld orlando fulfills that role

Hershey’s theme park: Excuse me?
lol

They also need an RMC Son of Beast at Kings Island
Cant forget about Heide Park's plans back in 2001 to build a 412 foot Intamin with a full cable lift layout. Sad that it never came to fruition.

Also the video: So it’s a good thing this wasn’t built.
The ring one might work on a smaller model. And yes, it does remind me of Sonic the hedgehog. Would probably be a maintenance headache.

I WANT THE STRAT COASTER LOL
Hey Coastoons!
If you had the opportunity to choose a theme park for yourself for a day, which would you choose? (besides cedar point)
Project Exodus at Thorpe Park may get cancelled. It was going to be built in a flood zone.
