Hi Rod. The driver is a friendly fellow. Doing that 9 hours a day certainly shows dedication. Such friendly people. It's nice to see everyday life in the Philippines. On the surface many province area may seem the same but when one digs down they will find they are very different as you said Rod. :)
Great video, very interesting. Will visit Cebu for our first time, during Sinulog next year. I love going the small side roads, great place so meet interesting people.
Thanks Shineamen. Yes, very traffic. I am starting to speak Filipino English. LOL. It will really through off my friends when I visit the USA next spring.
That was cool & I admire your adventurous nature. I always walk the streets Rody & you have to admit you get a lot of attention out there but you can see & encounter so much. People are usually friendly & welcoming & you get a good feel for there life & surroundings that you really would never experience by being inside a car/ jeepney/taxi.
Thanks Lawrence. There is no experience that can replace walking and interacting with the locals. It is always a great adventure for me also. Safe travels Lawrence.
Thanks again Rod for bringing back great memories. Yes different areas have different styles of transport and how they do things even in the same city. I appreciate your efforts.
Too funny! The Phills rocks! The people are so friendly and REAL! Smart move to retire there. Thanks Rod. Very entertaining video! Shalom from Israel.☺
Thanks for the video. Even the axle junk yard - I’ve never seen one of those before. When I needed a plumbing part in Hong Kong people sent me to one part of town that must have had twenty different plumbing supply shops.
Thanks Anthony. I have been surprised at what I find as I walk the streets of Cebu City. Several streets seem to have their specialty taking up most of the street and the next street will be something else.
Good video Rod. Bless that guy buying springs. I see so many trucks in the Philippines with dangerously worn out or broken suspension that look like they would tip over if they hit a pothole or God forbid some rippled pavement that set up a harmonic. I can hardly wait to get settled somewhere and explore the car parts.
I rode in a pedi cab in cebu and felt sorry for the guy when we hit an incline we were close to 320 pounds to 350 I could barely fit in it but I did tip him generously he was very happy
I remember the very first time when I went to the Philippines I went to the town of lipa City the people were there are so kind I really enjoyed the street foods alls I saw a lot of vendors on the roads I also saw a lot of jeeps there these people work their butts off just like us Americans do
@@AmazingPhilippines1 It was great seeing that street again. It was the 80's, and Carabao was all over. I sure somewhere they still use Carabao. I have a house in Cebu. I guess I will see that street soon.
I agree Rod, every area is a little or a lot different.Even here in Australia I can travel the same road and see things I never saw before.Stay safe and happy.
Thanks pinay addiction. I checked your site looking for your name but no content. It really is ones perception. Many, like you, see new and interesting things, while others do not. I enjoy exploring.
I did not get shots but did research it Gary. I would guess that 70%+ of expats do not get shots. I know several who have gotten pneumonia and there are different "bugs" here so it might be a good idea to get some of the vaccinations. Shingles vaccination is also recommended. Hepatitis would be important also.
Thanks for the unique view from a pedicab, the trykes go too fast to get decent footage not to mention bouncing around all the time. Hard to believe your driver was only 43, giveaway was when he said "same as you" after you gave your age. You have a good and friendly perspective towards the people, I am sure you aware that some others (expats/foreigners) don't share that view. P30 is cheap btw (not 300), your driver is honest, the older ones usually are. Bcuz you are already a local LOL. Keep it up Rod (from a Fil-Am who lived in the Philippines 9 years in Quezon City).
Thanks Rob. I do enjoy Filipinos and their culture. They are so accepting of most Foreigners that it makes life more enjoyable here. I get along well with most people here. Take care Rob.
Hey Rob what's the process in you being able to stay there and getting your American passport stamped all the time, us Americans or specifically you are you able to stay there 6 months or 9 months, would gladly like the info and help please, I also plan on retiring back home I'm 54 now, so just doing a little research thank you sir.
If you come and receive a tourist visa, you are allowed 36 months but you need to "extend" it every 1, 2, or 6 months at an immigration office. Not all offices will extend the 6 month option. There are other options: SRRV Special Resident Retirement Visa, Student visas, work visas, Investment visas, etc also.
When I first arrived there were areas that I was very leery of but eventually I started walking through those area and haven't had any troubles boogieman. I don't recommend it for most people but I take more risks than most I guess. I have had Filipinos tell me not to go to certain areas as the "are not safe"...but they have never been in those areas. LOL. Filipinos tell me it has become much safer over the last 4+ years with the war on drugs taking a lot of criminals off of the streets.
@@AmazingPhilippines1 You have guts, other Filipinos tell you that out of concern because you would "stand out", your friendly demeanor I think is a big plus,
I think it was Ermita Bob. There are no "bad neighborhoods" here....or, perhaps I have been very lucky everywhere I go. My gf tells me it is dangerous where I walk....but she has never been to those areas. LOL.
Rod if I was peddling a bike I would have needed 25 dollars for that ride. Bad thing about me doing it was I would have had a heart attack before the end of the first block. Hope you have a phone to dial 911 for me.
