Weekdays are the best days at the mall. Never go on saturdays, its a madhouse.

I lived in St. Paul for about 7 years. I went to the mall a lot more when I didn't live near it. The novelty wore off. It's a tourist place. Everything is a lot more expensive there than regular retail stores or other malls.

I guess that in middle America prices might be the same, but the advantage of the mall or Minneapolis in general is that you don't pay sales taxes on clothes and shoes. That saved me a lot...

Renata Pereira, my dad is actually from Guatemala City, Guatemala. I know though that Pereira means “Pear Tree” in Portuguese! My mom is Honduran and I was born and raised here in Wisconsin. I am fascinated though with Portuguese music (samba) and am interested in learning more about my family’s history. It would be meat to also visit the city of Pereira in Colombia! Hugs! Perhaps you are a long lost cousin. I am married now so I am now Delgado. Easier for people to pronounce!
We've been here 3 years ago and are excited to head back to Mall of America in a couple months!! It's a 6 hour drive for us and with 4 kids it'll seem even longer but we're very excited to visit again!

I lives in the Minnesota a year ago before I moved to Arkansas I went to the mall of America before and during the mall of America was being renovated. I really miss it there my 3 best friends still live their I wish I was still there it truly is a beautiful place I loved the snow. I miss u Minnesota 😭😭❤️

I go to the mall for one week every summer. I highly recommend it, it is fun! Also, stay away from weekdays and black Friday. I sear I almost died.

I take the bus out there once or twice a week just for fun. Like Johnny Rockets, Cantina Laredo, and several fast food places in the food courts.

I liked the variety and the prices there... It's worth a visit. How cool that your uncle lives in St Paul. I heard it's a beautiful place! Unfortunately I didn't have the time to visit...
The Log Chute is the best ride at Nickelodeon Universe. It is a classic ride that opened with the mall in 1992. I still have memories of my first ride when it opened back in 1992. I was 6 years old. I am 31 now, and I still enjoy riding the Log Chute. I live 15 minutes from the mall and go there all the time. I have ridden the Log Chute over 3,000 times. When I would ride on less busy days, the ride operator would let me go as many times as I wanted to.
What fun! Chris DeLuca, they should reward as an honorary "chuter"! 👍
They said I could have one of the log boats if I rode it 10,000 times! I want to use the log boat for a unique planter in my backyard flower garden!

Side note to all those who will visit Minnesota. There is no sales tax on clothes, but there is also no sales tax on the majority of food items. Bread, milk, fruit, chips, meat; anything that has nutritional value and is not served over a counter is tax free. No candy.

Been there twice it's ok but I didn't find it as tiresome as Sawgrass Mills which felt bigger to me I guess because of the layout. The aquarium is super cool though, definitely worth the admission.

The best thing about the MOA is that they have the only Bubba Gump restaurant in Minnesota. Bubba Gump is my jam.

I live only 30 minutes from the mall my son loves the amusment park.expecially SpongeBob ride.
Nickelodeon land used to be metropolitan stadium we're the Minnesota twins played for there first 20 years.my grandma used to live right across the highway from the mall I remember when it was being built and couldn't wait until it opened in 92.

As a person who grew up in Minnesota: yes things cost less and yes there is no tax on clothes and shoes. But at the MOA things cost nearly double the amount they usually do. Barely anyone who lives in Minnesota goes to the MOA to shop for things they need lmao. It gets SUPER pricey and the parking sucks especially during winter around the holidays. But yeah everything costs more because the cost to have your store be in the mall is more than it is anywhere else in Minnesota
Also the sales tax at the mall for everything but clothes and shoes is more than in the rest of the state

I rarely ever go to malls (because of expensive prices mainly for their clothes) but I love Mall of America mainly because of its indoor theme park, so far it's my favorite place. Only been two times (2013 and 2014), but I hope to go at least 1 more time in my life this time with at least 2 other friends. I don't personally know anyone in that part of Minnesota

You are so lucky to have all that to spend! In Minnesota there are never any taxes on clothes and shoes. E.g., you can spend $500 buying 10 pieces of clothes and you won't pay a cent more at the register. But if you use the same $500 to buy an iphone, then you pay 7.775% in sales taxes. Enjoy your trip!

For everyone else in the US they see it's incredible, astounding, and humongous. For us Minnesotans it's just a regular mall.
We tend to overlook that which is in our backyard but it is a great draw for Minnesota.

Hahaha! I thought the same thing and actually asked them about it when I was there. They use the natural solar energy. There's a huge glass ceiling over the theme park, which traps the heat. They don't even have a central heating system.
That's exactly true, and they don't even turn on the heating system in the winter because with all the people it keeps it nice and warm. :)

Is it weird that I'm crying??? In sorry I just miss Minnesota. I moved to Louisiana almost 4 years ago and only visited Minnesota once. I also didn't go to the mall that year because we had our dogs with us and forgot one of their papers at our house in Louisiana. But I went there 2 times. I got to sleep with the jellyfish! Heh, sorry about my rambling.
