Honestly, that ooze would actually be a sick Commander in itself. No one would want to kill it because it buffs its ability every time you cast it. Lol... I somehow love how AI (like Googles Alpha) is able to learn Chess within 8 hours and then is unbeatable by any human chess master but here AI still manages to screw so many Magic cards up. I guess the rules are somehow chaotic in nature in Magic somehow.
That's because chess has at most just 6 different pieces, which means only 6 "ability texts"/behaviours to keep track of, and the challenge just comes from how they are used together in play. Magic has far more variation in how cards are described and used.
AI physically cannot do illegal moves in chess, it's like, imagine if instead of moving your arms up/down right/left you could do chess moves, you wouldn't be able to do anything outside of this just like how you can't move your arm in 4D. On the other hand magic card AI is using semantic, not the rules of the game directly, so it's more like, you're asking it to decide what direction an arm can move to help design the joints and it goes "what about back in time?" obviously you *know* that's not an option but it doesn't really have that limitation baked in. There is also the fact that there is no objective metric to use to train the AI on what a good magic card is, while the rule of chess themselves give feedback on what a good and bad move is because it affects if you win or lose or not at the end. (and because it's objective it means it's very easy to simulate super fast at a massive scale, while any feedback you'd give the AI for cards would have to be done by humans which is going to be much less data)
