Today I'm talking about a short story about a troubled mother/daughter relationship. Olsen writes about an unnamed mother and her daughter Emily as she tries to recall what led to the current state of their relationship. She highlights how her efforts to provide the best life for Emily meant she couldn't provide the most comfort or warmth for her.
