I was a Zappafan for long long years. Zappa was a great musician. The lyrics - even the german onse - are music, Zappas surrealism art his humor, his political understanding - for my way of undersatnding - was always kind of anarcistically freedom. To shock people was part of his pleasure.
I am the heaven,I am the water I am the dirt beneath your rollers I am your secret smut & lost metal money Down your cracks I am your cracks & crannies I am the clouds,I am embroidered I am the author of all tucks & damask piping I am the chrome dinette (twice) I am the eggs of all persuasion I am all days & nights (4 times) I am here,And you are my sofa I am here,And you are my sofa I am here,And you are my sofa I am here, And you are my sofa!!!!!! -frickin sweet
Ein Genie. Ein durch und durch ernsthafter Musiker, mit einem Talent und Können, dass wir so schnell nicht wieder erleben werden können. Aber er war da und hat der Welt viel gebracht. God bless Uncle Frank
the first thing i learnt as a performer was never to apologise for anything, frank you dont dont have to say nothing, we europeans respect and love you forever. this song is actuallty understood in german dutch and swiss so dont worry about a thing my friend. we love you here even if mass america coudnt. precocious you were indeed sorry for the english
Dont be sorry for this wack and confusing ass language 😂. If one doesn't understand then ig it's not for them to get unless asked. I'm glad more ppl enjoy Zappa 🤪🤩💚
I can only imagine how nervous the German film crew got when Frank Zappa said, "I'd like to offer my apologies to the German people for the song that we're going to do now..."
We miss you Mr. Zappa Your music comes from heaven and it really inspires me a lot i do not have words to describes what your music makes me feel. I only know that it makes me happy
1982 LINZ , Magnificent , Brilliant on his own , surrounded himself with brilliant musicians , Brian Eno , Vinnie Colaiuta , asf....... thats a genius whitin .
Damm watching these clips makes me feel my age , I used to go to Zappa shows when the Mothers were a new band , followed Frank's many changes of bands through the late 80's , looking back its hard to believe he's been gone close to 3 decades .
A great tune, and I love the Wagnerian touches! Thia is propbably Frank's most 'spiritual' libretto, and also, the tune is completely diatonic, with none of the chromaticism that his music usually contains. Yes, a remarkable piece, and thanks, Frank!
Saw Jeff Beck and Terry Bozzio at Fillmore west. 1968. A memorable event that I remember to this day. Thanks to Bill Graham. Too many great shows to count. Bill even brought out the great drummer from Vegas , buddy rich , the best of pre rock drumming Buddy was something else
I really didn't get it when I was younger. So glad I woke up and realized the pure genius of this man and the total professionalism and talent of his musicians. Silly for sure, but oh so tight....
@@RedGarnett-n2p Really? I think he has lots of layers, hidden meanings, subtle and obscure references and combines all of that with a dose of humor - that often masks the layers, meanings and references even more. I can imagine the lyrics not being to someone's liking, but I find it harder to understand how someone can think the lyrics are less impressive than his music. Just to make this perfectly clear: I am genuinely finding it harder to understand, not saying your opinion is 'wrong' or disrespecting it. If you have the time and inclination to elaborate, I would love to get a bit more insight into your reasons for feeling the way you do and whose lyrics you consider genius or at least of a higher level. Perhaps you will help me discover more great artists this way or re-evaluate some I have failed to recognize as genius lyricists so far.
Noora Youssef Khalil It's very coherent of you take the perspective of a sofa. The lyrics talk about sex stains, loose change, embroidery, grime caught in the rollers, eggs of all persuasions, and chrome dinettes. I am here. I am your sofa.
Ich bin alle Tage und Nächte ... I am all days and nights and he still is with that song ... one of the best ever. Its fun, its wonderful, its power, its classical. Still so much fun to see him. ModulationCracks: same with me
R.I.P. BUDDY I´ll NEVER FORGET YOU !!!
I love this song and was singing it to myself all day at work today. Not very good with the German parts. My 14 son loves this song and also like Evelyn a Modified Dog. This song is a really beautiful melody. Also off of my favorite zappa album. (one size)
This stuff is ausome, kind of the American version of the Sensational Alex Harvey Band! Think I had this album many years ago and wondering if Pojama people is on it hee hee cracks me up!!!😊

One of the most beautiful songs ever made.
Agree 100%
Isn't is great googly moogly?
Next to peaches en regalia.
Although , is it really considered a song if there’s no lyrics?
One of my absolute Zappa (and all of music) favorites.
it is
This is a magnificent example of a musical genious of the very rarest kind. Absolutely wonderful
Probably Frank's most beautiful song...
Always a live classic.
Love Ike Willis vocals!

Hey Mike good times you had.Cheers
I only saw him 3 times from 79 but, hey, we saw him. The fact is there was never anyone before and there will never EVER be anyone like him again
I just got into him this year. Been a casual fan for a couple decades. But now I'm diving deep into his catalog and it's great.
Germany loves Frank
List Finland too 👍.
Yes.because GERMAN'S HISTORY IS VERY MUCH LONGER THAN AMERICAN,'S 200 HUNDRET YEARS OLD! listen BONGO FURY WITH CAPTAIN BEEFHEART....😂
The master at work !!!

JohnHarp Dalton True but the song ends with a cadence in another key!

Man some of his songs are just straight stupid and silly
And yes he was a genius musician but not a genius at writing lyrics as far as I'm concerned

Hervorragend!!!
Absolutely a great song. Sofa #2. I'm German but have no clue what he sung! My father spoke it fluently. But Frank did a great job!! Awesome.

Your chrome dinette is the fount of creation.

I have the studio album from which this track comes, and as someone still continuing to learn German I enjoy his efforts in this piece.
That's right, It's the same verse again.
It's one way of learning English.🤣

Long live the legacy of Frank the virtuoso enigma.
Na klar.
