I have this knife and used it for the first time on a deer. It worked superbly. I used a single blade...it held up very well. I highly recommend it as a game processing knife.
I have carred one of these knifes for about a year and its held up really good. I have pride open pain cans, cut drywall, cut open a deer with it and i really like it because you dont have to worry about damage on the blade because you can just replace it
I love these knifes. There light and razor sharp. And the best part I can re sharpen them back to a more of a razor edge. I can re sharpen each blade around 4 or 5 times before I dispos of the blade. I got everyone I work with carrying these knifes. They replaced the box cutter knife. ☺ 🇺🇸 👍
I love mine, blades are easy to sharpen back up too. Processed a buck last year and it was like butter 👌🏼just dispose of the blades responsibly if you're not gonna resharpen them
I love mine. I’ve been carrying it for a few weeks now working as a landscaper. A blade seems to last for awhile. I’ve been using a blade sharpener at the end of the day to keep using a blade sharp for a couple days instead of changing blades so often like I normally would on a regular razor knife. These blades are more expensive, but they do allow the aspect of sharpening to get some more time out of one which helps offset the cost over a typical razor blade that seems so disposable. Overall I’ve been very impressed, it’s stood up to dirt, mulch, rock, weed fabric, and all the other things I come across on a typical day.
I bought this very knife for skinning deer. I have been putting it through its paces for about a month on the first blade and it has held up so far. I did however go and purchase a big pack of blades on Amazon so I would have extra.
Another excellent review. EDC is a term with many definitions, but anyone needing this type of setup will immediately recognize it. All said, many of your viewers like the brand, and a lot describe why it's so useful for skinning game of all sizes. Thanks for the demo.
Cool video. We used one to skin a bear and it did a bang up job. The blade held an edge throughout and even though it did dull a little it was still sharper then most knives. Not sure about the EDC aspect but a cool knife.
I used it to skin game last trapping season. Works really good for making your money cuts. I wouldn't use it for much else though, as you can easily carry another folder along with it. This knife is nice when you need a razor edge but like every unique knife, it has its place and is not all-in-one sort of deal.
I keep one in my pocket. It replaces a much heavier DeWalt pocket knife. Half of the Dewalt blade is serrated and resharpening that part is a pain. But I decided for 90% of my cutting I didn't really need the weight of the DeWalt with it's thicker blade. So far the EDC has done an excellent job of cutting duct tape, opening card board boxes, slicing chuck steak, etc. When it gets dull I can just swap out the blade.
As a construction worker I use a razor blade just about every day. I've known about this knife for a while now I'm going to try it. The larger blade edge is what's appealing to me.
I'm definitely buying one for hunting. I have enough stuff on my belt when I head out, because I keep a fixed blade, my rangefinder, a small suvival pouch, a multitool, and light on my belt, so I passed up on their products because most ride on your belt. However with this having a pocket clip, I'm definitely buying one. Especially since I'm going to New Mexico in August for an elk hunt, I'm definitely impressed!
I like them because I can re sharpen the blade real easy. And I use it every day for work. I cut many cardboard boxes and other stuff. If ya know how to sharpen a knife they'll last for ever. Thanks for sharing
I just used one to process a boar hog. It worked well for gutting, but the pig was gritty and the blade dulled quickly under that circumstance. I needed to change the blade, but couldn't because it was gooped up with blood and guts and I could not get a grip with ice cold bloody hands. Had to use another skinning knife to finish the job. Next time I will be better prepared so I can clean up a little to change the blade if needed. Overall, pretty happy with the price and concept.
420J2 is a fairly tough stainless. Im not surprised it held up to wood carving, but of course the shoulder and gap between the blade and the spine holder is gonna create some issues. Seems like a nice product though. I get why its such a popular choice for hunters. I imagine there are some premium options in this style out there.
I had one of these, didn't care for it, yes it cut well but the blade retention area fills up with crud easy, used it to dress some small game and under the blade got very nasty and required some good cleaning. The biggest negative for me was using it as a left handed it was easy to hit the blade release and came real close to cutting myself several times.
Very nice review. I just bought this (3 blade version) for $23 because my hunting knife had gotten dull and I was trying to dress out several squirrels and was having a heck of a time, this thing makes it a breeze. I wouldn't carry one for EDC, I have to many actual EDC pocket knifes for that, and if you dont have an EDC pocket knife and walked into a sporting goods store and saw this along with all the other (EDC) pocket knifes they sold and thought yah that's the one! I would really question your motive for needing one in the first place? Im sure Outdoor Edge loves videos like this where it shows the knife being used as an EDC and hay.....you can even use it to process game! non the less its a great & cheap knife.....for processing game!! 🥩🍗
I wash windows and use it to trim squeegee blades when replacing them. It's scary sharp for other EDC uses, the light weight is great too. I thought mine was lost(and found again) and bought another companies exchange blade knife. It was heavier and the blade support is thicker. The Outdoor Edge is better.
Great Review, I like the concept of this knife for doing things like game processing. For instance in the middle of processing a beaver you can just swap out blades instead of having to stop and sharpen it. I just don't know that it would suit my needs as an EDC knife. I thrash my knives pretty often and I'm not sure that this knife would hold up. To me this knife would be good in a game processing kit or something like that. Now I've never handled the knife so do you think it could take a pretty good beating and hold up?
4 years later, and they are still available. I just picked up mine in Orange this week, with the 6 replacement blades for under $30. You can also use the replacement gut hooks in this knife also. Amazing knife for the price. Especially for skinning and gutting game
I like mine but the thumb stud came out and I could not find a replacement on their website no way to buy thumb stud parts on their webpage I even tried their Facebook page to request a way to buy them and got no response
I just purchased this knife after doing some homework and watching reviews. I got it purposely for skinning deer and small game like rabbits and squirrel.
Prepare Learn Survive! Lowe's carries them year round so they should be relatively easy to get them when needed. That was my first thought before buying one too. I think they're around $12 for 6 of them.
Omg i absolutely love your channel and all of your videos i think you should do something like self defense edc knives like maybe a fox 599 or fox dart or something like that anyway keep up the great channel
Wood working I agree NO, but skinning looks great. Feathers some what. I've never really found a good knife for everything, IN the woods my pack has several, not because I lose alot, because they don't make one for all we use a knife for.
Nope rope is not a problem. I have used the same blade for two weeks and i have cut up 125' of climbing rope like butter along with various other thing like weed eater string and so on. Makes a good snuff can opener too.

Very good review. Really appreciate your cautionary note on handling- “It is a razor blade.”

What do you use to sharpen these blades and how ???
Drew Guapo just a normal blade sharpener. The brand is “sharpNeasy “. Just has a coarse and a fine slot on it

Outdoor Edge has a good reputation and some pretty good quality. Thanks for the review. I've been looking at this and now I think I want one.
Been using one for about 4.5 months now. I carry it most every day and just run a few passes on the ceramic sticks to keep it in top shape.
Another excellent review.

True
Just found one that has been ran over all day by dump trucks. All in tact except for the release button. I’d say it’s pretty dang reliable!
I just found this knife and got some new blades for it had a hell of a time getting the old blade out

I refinish floors and use it daily now

Jack Rowland thanks for the feedback - that’s great to hear.

incredible for hunters and fishermen- even commercial fishermen

Have had it for 4-5 month's now and it is great use it all the time
I keep my knifes sharp but that razor scares the crap out of me. It would be a nice EDC for light duty.
I have had mine for 2 years or so and still have 2 blades left from when I bought it you can use a kitchen knife sharpen them several times
Not bad for a razor knife. I would remove the clip and grind down the hump on the back where the clip screwed into (as I am a lefty)
Thanks for showing, don't even know if still available. Old videos can fool ya.

Now that is not a bad knife.
EDC is a good thing if prices are doable
Sharp knives are sharper than most crappy disposable razors. If you cant sharpen well it's perfect.
It's neat but not what I would swap out my knife for personally. It would be something to have in my tackle box when fishing. Thank you for the review
I like mine but the thumb stud came out and I could not find a replacement on their website no way to buy thumb stud parts on their webpage I even tried their Facebook page to request a way to buy them and got no response
Bought this knife, works great except I can't seem to get the blade out to change it for a new one...
I just purchased this knife after doing some homework and watching reviews. I got it purposely for skinning deer and small game like rabbits and squirrel.
I was thinking about getting one for warehouse work with all the boxes... But that doesn't even work very good lol
As long as it's easy to find the blade refills, sounds like a useful pocket knife; work knife or medical kit knife.
Prepare Learn Survive! Lowe's carries them year round so they should be relatively easy to get them when needed. That was my first thought before buying one too. I think they're around $12 for 6 of them.
Brandon Rikard Thank you for the info.
No problem
Seems like a solution looking for a problem. Interesting idea but not for me. I can foresee too many modes for failure and not enough versatility.
Omg i absolutely love your channel and all of your videos i think you should do something like self defense edc knives like maybe a fox 599 or fox dart or something like that anyway keep up the great channel

Hell yeah, FEATHER will burn easy, but will it hold up,
Nope rope is not a problem. I have used the same blade for two weeks and i have cut up 125' of climbing rope like butter along with various other thing like weed eater string and so on. Makes a good snuff can opener too.
In the pack for me, hope you show feather sticking.
pretty good
Like the look
Sticking to upper might cause problems not worth it
My question always with knives is why aren't we making these in the US, UK, Canada or Europe. Why is China making all this stuff?
hmmmm... good for us that are terrible at sharpening tasks??
Indeed. Great for that.
30 seconds on a strop will make it shave again.
Dude! I live in nh!
Shaving in the field? Haha
It's a no from me.. 4/10 Good video,cheers..
ouch... sharp
Yeah start with cardboard.
