The Igbo dialect is diverse. Onitsha, Awka, Nnewi, Oba, Oko, Ufuma, just to mention a few, each have a different dialect that identifies them though all are in Anambra State. Umuahia, Ngwa, Okigwe, Bende, all sound very different though they are in Abia State. So it is with Enugu State, Nsukka, Nike, Nkanu, Oji River LGA, Eziagu LGA, all have very different dialects. In some LGA, the various towns still have different tones in their pronunciations peculiar to them. It will be fun to feature Nsukka, Abakaliki, Onitsha, Isikwuato,, Owerri, Oji River and Ngwa together. You can’t imagine the wide difference of dialects.
We in Bende n Old Bende (Abiriba) finds it alien to speak Igbo Nsube or Anambra dialect, to us their dialect is funny. Despite Ugochi is 1hr drive away from Abiriba but her dialect is very similar. Yam, husband, take, bring are the same but go away is different: saa oba puu (Abiriba) money is okpoh.. kaa is greeting.. 😊
This series are wonderful, I love your playful insults but even more how you speak English & Igbo language, you speak both so well including your apt pronunciation.
I really love n enjoyed this of all dialect exchange, don't know if it's because am from abia (though not Alayi but Arochukwu) or because it's my own very personal person Ugocci, so much love her music n shows... Nice 👍 one ...
This is so interesting. I grew up at Aba and was a bit not sure if that sounded more like Aba until she said she's from Bende towards the end. Thanks for putting this together, more of it pls.
This is so interesting and enlightening. I have never heard this dialect before. Whaaat Abia sounds so so different. I'm from Adazi Nnukwu Anambra state and my dialect is very similar to abagana if not same
Sis what you are speaking does not represent Abia-Igbo dialects. I'm from Arochukwu, our dialect is more similar to Abagana dialect than Aba Ngwa, you are speaking.
But on a more serious note, if you come to me/any other igbo tribe with that Abia dialect... nne YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN kpom. (Inu kwam iri rice nejighi anu 🤭) nice one guys😘😘 Igbo di blessed ❤💯
This is just one out of the many dialects of Igbo spoken in Abia State that's "Alayi dialect" from Bende L.G. there are similarities in their dialect with Ohafia and also some little differences as well, like in Ohafia dialect Take is were or gwere and Bring is wesa or kwesa. Igbo language have numerous dialects scattered across southeast, southsouth and the lower Benue and Kogi State.
I am from Umuahia (Ubakala precisely), our dialect is similar to Abagana but bears a different tone/intonation. 1. Yam - Ji 2. Take - Were 3.Where are you going - Ebee ka-ina ga? 4. Get out of here - Shi ebea fuo 5. There is something wrong with your head - Onwere ihe n'emegi n'ishi 6. Stop what you are doing now - kwushi ihe in'eme kita/ugbua
@Enigma it may not be the same for all Imo state. Better say, from your own part of Imo. As you can see, not all Abians speak the same as Ugoccie's part of Abia.
Okay now i see why Anambra(1991) and Enugu(1991) sounds alike. I found from google that the current Anambra and Enugu were derived from an old Anambra of the 1976
this is not only comedy but we're learning about Nigeria culture
