I've gone to single hook on the tail only -barbless - I've hooked up every time I thought the barbless hook would go in easier ? , plus , its easy to sharpen up one hook point before fishing - I think hooks lose their edge when bounced around tackle boxes ? - I lost a couple of fish at first until I switched on to keep tight into the fish to reduce chances of it throwing the hook - obviously , unhooking is a piece of piss , great shots of those pike coming short - really wakes you that lol . Try kneeling down - I sometimes think the pike turn away 'cos they have spotted me ?
if you are i a situation like you were at 3:57 again, try hooksetting it against the pike instead, you'll have a much greater chance of setting the hook! nice video :)
Hey, happy christmas! Ive been watching your videos for a while, but this is my first time commenting. I was hoping youd help me with some info. Your lures look pretty weighty i am just wondering what rod/reel you have setup to chuck them. Fingers crossed you get this.
One of your bigges tmistakes I have seen in many of your videos is that when you see a fish coming you often stop retrieving or slow it down. That's a mistake. You should keep retrieving the lure with same speed or do few more sudden pulls with the rod to really attract the fish. Anyway banger videos mate! Been watching about 3 a day for past 5 days. Keep up the awesome content!
Nicely done mate! Just a technical question, how do you dill with speaking while fishing, as far as a know being quite it’s gold for pike fishing. Do you edit the voice later? Cheer!
That looked decidedly dodgy under foot once that rain came in. I must admit I've never really had a good go at Piking since I was a lad. This year though I'm feeling inspired and since I love to make a lot of my own stuff, that will also give me some projects in the workshop over winter too :O) A spinner from a teaspoon is one I'm itching to try, thanks to "TA Fishing". Great video DB... I just subscribed and I'm off to look at your others.
Always good to get something on a quick after work session like that. I did wonder if it was going to turn into a scuba diving vid nearer the end though!! Cheers.
Mate, you have some seriously good waters near you. I'm guessing Yorkshire area? I'm in Manchester and there isn't that many places full of pike, Bridgewater canal and the river Irwell are close and both hold pike but bigger pike are hard to come by. I'll have to make a trip up your area for a session. Great vids, all the best.
@@BlackCountryPiker I’ve been using all sorts of spinners and lures, I’ve just bought some savage gear soft 4 play 13cm , my misses said “there big, at least you will see them when they are stuck in a tree” pmsl😂😂

I've ditched the lures the last month but I'll be back on them. I got a pb and finally a 20lbr - a 20.5lb river pike on Wednesday on my nearest river, video on my channel 😁
Nice double m8...Any kids watching though, get the fish back first, before ya get the hooks out your (rubber) net! Pike are more delicate than most coarse fish, and DON'T do 2 good outta the water.
Never understand pike fishing you can know nothing about pike and catch them anywhere only time they are worth catching is when you have never caught one...now catching a specimen perch that's always worth while
Yeah, I think he's going more for the fun of it, perch can be challenging at times, and not everyone has a city next door to go streetfishing, otherwise it's just preference I think, personally fish mostly in the city lmao
Like your videos, but why use mono as a leader. It's absolutely not necessary and mono is NOT pikeproof. And don't say it's thick enough. Despite of that it's NOT 100% pikeproof.
@@PS26864 let's just agree to disagree here. Flourocarbon leaders for lure fishing are massively misunderstood, there are plenty of top quality versions out there that are used heavily outside of the uk. They are more durable than wire and much kinder to the fish. Each to their own but you need to see there are viable alternatives to wire out there. In fact this very channel has a video explaining all this 🙂
@@alrith72 Fluorocarbon/mono leaders are not massively misunderstood. They are overrated and absolutely not necessary. And the most important thing is they are dangerous for the fish. I saw a thick fluorocarbon leader break on a first! fish. And more durable?? I always fish with a titanium leader, talking about durable. And the argument that it is more fishfriendly is total bs.
I just love the way your lures are organized, good job on sticking with it in the pouring rain, I don't do that anymore. Great video as always.

Being quiet doesn't matter much for pike in my experiences, it's more watching out where you're walking to not spook them.
