Some personal feedback: For the fight recaps, I would prefer you show the full fight first in its entirety with a brief overview and then have it broken down like you did in this one with the extra detail. For the future: That advanced hud is gonna be real nice to see what inputs you're doing exactly to accomplish that. Basically the old hud with a facelift.
Awesome video, but you hit the nail on the head with aim. Any competent AC pilot is: 1) Never letting you sit there, they will extend immediately or blow through, reset and aim you down 2) They will aim you down on the merge and go for DPS race 3) They will just kite and DPS race you If 2 pilots want to fight this style, it's great and absolutely more fun. But in AC, people just want to win and that's currently aim, aim and aim more. Also being aim centric, if your pip is neutralised, so is theirs. If they have the better aim or the higher DPS, you lose. Fully agree with your final thoughts and I do hope we see some meaningful FM changes to bring a wider variety of skill back beside aim. AC is pretty irrelevant currently, it is equivalent to a really basic flight school that teaches some good and some very bad lessons. But aim has always been critical since day one.
@RichGallant aim has always been important, I agree. However in previous FMs, speed, position, knowledge,range contro and different flight styles added variety and you could win with better knowledge of how a fight unfolds, you could win by better positions, you could win right of the merge etc. Now you have just an aim centric model with a merge button, it rewards aim above all else
Amazing video! Earlier today I was thinking I should learn how to Decouple combat better and here is this amazing guide! I’ve been seeing so many Hornets lately… think I’ll swap from Sabre to Hornet. I can barely get guns on either way so extra pew pew is goodew. Yes the gladius is meta but I’m trying not to be a light fighter.
Videos like this are great! You can get smoked in AC all the time and not realize these things, or spend a longer time before it clicks, like fighting in the pitch. People get frustrated and quit. Good job.

Star Citizen is like War Thunder, but the flight model changes drastically every update. Patch Note: VTOL has been added to several aircrafts; Yaw is no longer affected by rudder; Wings no longer produce lift
As for me, I hope to see this ×2 output on upward strafing disappear… It doesn't make any sense, and it's here just so that big ships can lift themselves when in a gravity field. But, because of that, it limit the number of options and make a few ships completely broken when in VTOL.
The premise is wrong as are the commenters. Speed is not the only thing. That’s ALL we had before. People don’t seem To appreciate the “smart” fighting we have now. Your decisions matter. Before you could do what you wanted and leave when you started losing. No consequence. I guess that’s what everyone liked…. No consequences. I like now that I can catch a bounty. His decisions will affect if he gets away. I can chase him. I can apply firepower to prevent his jump. Not a thing before. Theres a bunch of loud fighter jokes that can’t charge people to teach them to fight the only way you could before, kiting, and that’s who doesn’t like it. With that speed everyone wants, there will be no boarding. The Legionnaire will not function. Distortions will not work as again people just leave. You will constantly be shooting a dot again…. So no targeted systems. I don’t think people understand what they want to go back to.
I like the slower speeds, I don't like the slower accelerations. Low accelerations nukes skill ceiling, imagine if Muhammad Ali was not allowed to use footwork against Mike Tyson. Low top speeds allow players to reduce distances, but low acceleration disallows for movement to matter. And I'm very much pro for teamwork mattering but it always did.
I don't get why people are moaning about MM so much. While I get that there are some annoyances which I hope go away with their new plans, combat is pretty much the same as it was before. The speeds are lower but the combat is the same.
Basically now once fighting it's a lot harder to scape unless you nav out, and you can't just boost out in a 20 v 1 like before, a 2v1 is a very difficult scenario, and a 3 v 1 the same, you can't no longer stay safe with 5 duds firing at you with just some simple muscle memory movements, dodging is shots under inferior numbers is a lot harder now
@StoneCoolds so as it should be. The annoyance of course is having to drop shields in order to quantum. Sounds like they want to change that by using the sub modes within master modes in order to better blend them together. I would agree with others that they should implement these things with more forethought. If I were being charitable I might guess that they are trying to ease people into the intended gameplay. Of course the long history of bad choices stands in contrast.

Why do you keep moving your mouse to the right side of the screen every time you unpause the video? It's super distracting, just leave it where it is and unpause.
@JohnathanWinters It would auto disappear 1 second after you hit Space to resume the video. Still not ideal, but better than it keeps moving in and out.
"chasing the belly" has been my strat with cats for years, glad to see it now in star citizen.

At 4:38 - why do you use the leftstrafe instead of the stronger upstrafe?
As I learned from Synax, side strafe and upstrafe are almost the same this patch.
Because he's aiming in that arc. So I offset his arc by shifting left.

Bad news... Operator Modes won't change how ships work.. Fighting will still be at SCM aka sub 400m/s. Unless you like fighting without shields.
