  • Welcome or welcome back to my channel! I am a Seattle based flight attendant and I share my trips and experiences. This month is my very first month as a line holder and it has been so fun!However there’s definitely some not so great parts to the job and this trip had a few of those. Still I absolutely love it and wouldn’t trade it for anything. Thanks for watching! 🫶🏼

    Alyssa, you work so hard. Remember, you are the face of the airline. Yes, pilots are important, ground crew is important, but the cabin crew is the deciding factor if passengers return to your airline. A lousy/indifferent cabin crew will turn the most normal trip into a terrible experience for the passengers, and most likely never return.

    How about that, Miss Alyssa - a FAT turn to end your four-day. . . 😂 Fun FAT facts: altho I didn't work anywhere near the airline industry at the time, for 45 years, FAT was my home terminal whenever I went somewhere in the air. I watched it grow from four gates with portable stairs to the modern terminal it is today with all the jetways. I remember when SkyWest came to town and opened a large maintenance base across the airport from the main terminal. FAT is also home to the 144th Fighter Wing of the California Air National Guard. If you happen to catch a 24-hour layover at FAT, be aware that it's only a little more than an hour's drive to the South Gate of the majestic Yosemite National Park, where the BEST time to visit is the last two weeks of April and the first two weeks of May, especially mid-week. Being a regional, it means you've got to connect at a major airport whenever you're going somewhere from FAT, which means travelers have to plan well to get to their final destination. Nice vlog, btw. And, as always, Cheers from GEG ❣

    Hi Alyssa. Another great vlog. I really like you chatting about your day to 📸 camera. You really get your vlogs out fast. The computer meltdown was only days ago. I was wondering if you are thinking of doing a live vlog ever. Watching in Australia

      Hi Rob! Thanks for watching again! And a live vlog isn’t feasible with my job since I can’t share a lot of it for safety reasons so this is the best we can do to share pieces of it 😊

    Oh wow, the fish story is crazy. I'm glad you got to swap planes. Thankfully you were not affected by the Microsoft outage. I like the chatty end of this video! Looking forward to the get to know video coming up.

    Oooh Costco!! Now you can try their nut bars (with cocoa drizzle and sea salt - fancy ;-) which I love! it's high protein so it feels like a good choice for a very packable treat :-)

    Are you able to live off an Alaska airlines flight attendant salary when you are based in Seattle?

    • @alittlebitoflyss
      @alittlebitoflyss  Месяц назад +6

      First year salary is super tough but I’ve made it work so far! It gets better with time but we definitely don’t get paid what we deserve 😔

      @@alittlebitoflyss Ya I’ve heard about the first year a lot from current flight attendants. Reserve sounds very challenging, not being able to know your schedule and etc. But I’m sure sticking with an airline for a while pays off because of seniority but the pay is still super unfair. In my opinion you should get paid immediately when you have to check into the airport.

    for when you are ready for another fiction - I'm almost finished with A Happier Life by Kristy Woodson Harvey, and it's the perfect summer read! the hotel brand you're staying in at the last overnight is my favorite!!! I love the room setup and their breakfast is usually pretty good, plus the ones I've stayed at are usually near good shopping and restaurant options. I've had a lot of cranky/rude passengers and so many kids lately too. that's wild what happened with the other plane! honestly, the things we experience cannot be made up! 😂

    Does it bother you that airlines keep aircraft so long that things break more often? I guess you can't do anything, but it causes delays in your schedule.

    • @alittlebitoflyss
      @alittlebitoflyss  Месяц назад +3

      Honestly sometimes the newer planes go on maintenance too! I think it’s because they just get used so much so delays are part of the game unfortunately

    I'm surprised you were able to bring your olipops! Are FAs not subject to the 3oz liquid rule? Love watching your vlogs, I'm planning on applying for Alaska next time they open up applications ❤ are you happy there, or do you wish you went with a different airline?

    • @alittlebitoflyss
      @alittlebitoflyss  Месяц назад

      Correct! We have special clearance that allows us to bring liquids through security which we are grateful for. Especially when gone for a four day trip! I truly love this airline and the places we fly
