    The circuit isn't a voltage regulator but only a voltage follower, if the output load changes the voltage across the load changes.
    Without an heatsink the 2N3055 can dissipate not a lot of power, the junction/air thermal resistance of a 2N3055 in metallic TO-3 case is about 35°C/W. Considering an ambient temperature of 30°C with 24 V input, 12 V output and and an output current of only 0.4 A the junction temperature of 2N3055 reaches the maximum theoretical value of 200°C.
    The maximum current managed by a 2N3055 is 15 A.

    Be careful SOAR (Safe Operation Area Region) in power electronics . Attention please about Avoid Second Breakdown (Avalanche Breakdown). Maximum collector current is 15 Amps for 2N3055.

    На видео все так хорошо паяется от одного прикосновения паяльником. Фактически припой отскакивает от корпуса транзистора и его выводов. Может быть все выводы и поверхность корпуса транзистора перед пайкой чем то обрабатывается, например кислотой?

    2N3055 un tranzistor de putere. Se folosea într-un montaj amplificator sau la releul de încărcare baterii pe camioane.

      Eu am încercat să încarc o baterie. Am pus 3 tranzistori 3055 pe o placă de aluminiu, și la un curent de vreo 5 A, se încinse-se tranzistorii la vreo 70 ℃.
      Cum poate individul acesta să traverseze acel tranzistor cu 100 A.
      Basme pentru copii mici. 😢
