  • Hey all,
Today I was stoke to find a new spawn from my Neolamprologus Caudopunctatus and it inspired me to let you all know a little bit about them.
I really love these fish, and think they are super underrated. Not a true shelldweller, but definitely a rockdweller and cave spawner.
A nice temperament, not difficult to breed and a whole lot of fun, definitely recommend giving these a go!

If you could call a fish "classy" then I reckon these guys are one of the classiest looking Lake Tanganyikan Cichlids! There's something about the iridescent spots on their scales that makes these guys stand out. Congrats on the spawn mate, they look so cool with their fry and gee the fry look tiny! And how cool that they spawned in your cave too. Nice one mate!

The males actually have a vertical stripe on the back edge of the caudal fin, hard to notice though! Chris Carpenter taught me this - head of a large cichlid club in Michigan.

I have a supposed pair of these fish, one bigger than the other and it has a yellow trim on the caudal fin and the other is smaller without the yellow trim. The male hides in a shell for most of the day and the female is digging holes under rocks and shells provided. I assume they're getting ready to lay eggs based on that behavior?

Sounds very promising to me 👍

@@BlakesAquatics sweet. I hope they reproduce because if they do ill get a 50gal lowboy tank for them and start a massive breeding group with it.
