  • Bernard Hopkins Beyond The Glory Pt. 1
Bernard talks about growing up on the streets of North Philadelphia and how the time he spent in prison help shape him into the fighter and man he is today! Nasim says it perfectly, Hopkins has attained the RESPECT of men who don't give RESPECT to many men! And as we say in the HOOD! "THATZ GANGSTA!" ENJOY!

20 straight middleweight championship defenses over 10 years. That says it all. He's the most underrated fighter over the last 25 years.

@@la_gallada_ruiz9818 You obviously don't know Hopkins story fully. GGG hasn't fought nearly the caliber of fighters that Hopkins has. GGG didn't go to Honduras to pull out a draw while being knocked down twice in the fight while a bunch of soldiers trying to intimidate him with AK-47 assault rifles before the fight. Hopkins wasn't put through the amateur Olympic system like GGG & had the machine behind him to get to the top with easy bouts. He did that shit on his own. GGG shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as Hopkins. All he is is a puncher with decent skill with the whole world behind him that likes knockouts & not boxing.
Hopkins had hardly anyone with him & he beat way better fighters than GGG ever did. GGG would have gotten embarrassed by Roy Jones Jr, Hopkins & James Toney had he came up when they did. Don't you ever mention this arguement again.
In fact HBO fell apart backing the likes of GGG & the Klitschko brothers and many other European Fighters that board American fans to tears. They were good but weren't great, not even close to the great Bernard Hopkins.

B-hop is the truth. This is a man who went to a maximum security prison at 17!!! He came up the hard way and the man gets better with age. He has turned his life around and is a legend in the sport. He is a good role model for kids growing up hard.

Honestly, if you came from the slums and overcame all that to become a legend, you would have the right to brag. This man went to a maximum security at 17 for robbing drug dealers. He became a world boxing champ and is considered a legend. Honestly, I think he will be ranked ahead of roy now. I grew up a huge roy fan, But bernard has a better resume IMO.

I respect Bhop he was on the road to nowhere. When you're pressured by you're peers everyday. You find a way. And no real top amateur career. Goes to prison and master's boxing. Bernard Hopkins is inspirational story. Very uplifting. The Lord works in mysterious ways. God bless the rest of his life. Thank you Jesus

I was really sad this morning. The world's poverty, racism, deceitful politicians felt just like the world was on my shoulders. Tons of business projects but even more bills, etc, etc, etc. But this really motivated me. Thanks poster and Bernard, and your mother. This was that one additional motivation I needed t keep moving on and fighting for truth, justice and freedom for us all. J C

Without a doubt a top 10 fighter ALL TIME...his resume is out of this world..
*20 title defenses against 17 different fighters (both are records for the middleweight division)
*became the first male boxer in HISTORY to simultaneously hold world titles by all 4 main sanctioning bodies (WBA, WBO, IBF, and RING MAGAZINE)
    *Fighter of the Year (2001)
*after losing his middleweight title, and then failing to regain it again both against Jermaine Taylor, he moved up to Light Heavyweight to defeat Antonio Tarver at 42 years old to win the IBO and RING magazine titles
*in 2008, he regained his LHW titles against Jean Pascal, making him the oldest boxer in history to win a world championship (beating George Foremans age record)
*he then beat his own age record in 2013, and then AGAIN in 2014
All of this was after he served 5 years in Graterford, AND losing his first professional fight.... he is the epitome of rags to riches and perseverance in the face of adversity....he was my hero as a kid, and to this day he remain my personal favorite boxer....

Hopkins & Marquez are the top 2 under rated fighters of all time. Both of them beat the best fighters of their era & did it as old men. Both men went up in weight to defeat better fighters & again did it as old men.I have Marquez 3rd greatest mexican boxer of all time only behind Sanchez & Chavez.I have Hopkins 3rd greatest middle weight of all time only behind Hagler (Hopkins Idol) & Robinson. Here is a man who defended his middle weight title belt a record 20 consective times. Both guys were under the spot light because more hyped up boxers of their era who both would go on to defeat,so both when had to get their name up there the old fashion way with their fist. Not only does Hopkins beat big named boxers he makes them look really bad.

During one of his interviews on The Jim Rome Show Bernard said while he was in Prison he used a heat generating light bulb to create an oven. That was similar to the principal behind the Kenner or Hasbro Easy-Bake Oven.
Bernard is the best spokesman choice for late night commercials for the Hasbro Easy-Bake Oven. With that sweet endorsement deal he can make money without always having to box.

Because Chad is the champion and nr2 ranked light heavyweight! He is the only real shit around right now in the division. Forget Diaconu, forget Johnson, forget Woods. I lost a lot of respect for Hopkins after the Calzaghe fight. I was there at the Thomas & Mack and he looked like he didn't want to be there. After a knock down, you steam in and finish the job, Hopkins just couldn't. Calzaghe just got stronger and stronger and hit him with so many punches, it got messy but Hopkins didn't fancy it at all.

Check on Frank Warren's site the press conference is on there warren anounces that Joe want's to go to philadelphia to fight him. He wants to fight Woods to but he said he wants two fights b4 retireing anyway. Trust me he wants Hopkins. It's B-hop's trainer who has openly said he doesnt want him to fight Calzaghe.
B-Hop ducked him some years back to. Joe would destroy him anyway.

I think part of mayweathers thinking was hes p4p number 1 and there are alot of dangerous contenders in my divison (cotto, margartio, williams, berto?) so I will let them beat each other up and fight the best of the lot with more money and hype and have more chance of winning after their tough fights with each other. Mayweather will almost certainly fight Margarito late 09 early 10 if he beats cotto again, he will have to. Meanwhile Williams has to wait his turn, but he knows that already.

Trinidad didn't box in that fight, he was just out to punish Hopkins for what he did with the flag and all that. And as we know you cant do that against Hopkins, not if youre Trinidad anyway. Besides, the fight was delayed and it can play against a fighter. It seems this is gonna happen however, the rematch. At least from the info I got. And Dawson is too quick and too good for Hopkins to school him. He'd just take everything and give back double.
