Honestly, if you want to get a Vita, now is probably the best time to do so. It's a great handheld with a lot of capabilities and I don't imagine the prices will get much lower.
@@Tipperito Yes i can attest to that Before 2019, i had 2 GBA SPs AGS 101 that i bought for just 20 bucks each. Also two DS lites for just 20 bucks as well. Mind you though that this is in my country, Philippines. It took people a while that their old consoles owned by non resellers actually has a lot of value. Now i cant find any of them below 50 bucks. Even the DS lite is sought after a lot nowadays.
You forgot 1 thing: psvita has excellent full-fledge physical buttons. Many Chinese retro handheld have low quality physical buttons. As a retro handheld, psvita is a champion.
Maybe true 6 years ago but Chinese handhelds are using Vita parts today also Chinese handheld PCs are beasts that can play anything between heaven and earth, even PS3 games that work.
The fact that you've mentioned and encouraged the use of PKGj and Sony still hasn't taken this video down over a year later (unless PKGj is down now) makes it clear that Sony has fully abandoned this console. A sad realization with hope to what the future of homebrew will hold.
I mean, Sony already sent their Vita QA units to be destroyed not that long ago. The fact that some of the community even has access to some Dev Kits is due to this reason. I think that alone concludes it very well that they had already abandoned the Vita.
Well, its not piracy when they abandon it, it becomes abandonware, the reason there is a program on PC lets you access literally thousands of abandoned PC games.
Counterpoint to the smartphone thing: It's kind of hard to beat using an actual game console for your emulation. Yes smartphones are VERY good at it, but a lot of the controllers for smartphones are just wonky. I haven't found a decent one that fits with my Note 20 yet. They're all too small.
This, this is my main reason that I still carry handheld today. Yes phones can play games really well and that’s not even counting gaming phones. But nothing beat having a physical button that you’ll eventually memorize by feels over tapping the same flat spots and missing the button by an inch. Plus even if we have a decent controller, you’d have to carry it around somehow or leave it at home. Might as well carry a whole console and save the phone battery.
Anything USB-C works great but I find that there is still input lag in the emulators themselves, specially some PSP games stuff like Hatsune Miku which can ruin your experience quite fast. There best controllers for Android and iOS costs like 60 bucks though, which is almost as much as the Vita used but man I am tired of owning 7 different devices just to play games and besides the controller is detachable so I guess its a life investment.

Found an almost CIB one (missing memory stick) for $100 the other day. Really excited to mod it when it arrives. I’m a Nintendo person, but I enjoy this layout a lot better than the 3DS XL. Excited to use it for retro emulation on the go

Ps Vita 1004 (phat OLED) in mint condition 16GB memory card 2 games Carrying case Charger For only 85 USD I've modded it to Henkaku/Enso and am currently awaiting delivery of my SD2VITA and 256GB SD card. It was a great bargain and the Vita is great for my use case, retro gaming.
Really happy I managed to grab a first model oled vita. Was super lucky found it for 85 dollars in basically mint condition it was just a little dirty but after I cleaned it was brand new. Got the console a screen, protector, the original charger, and a case for it. Got a mad steal glad I found it before some reseller
Not only the games, the performance too. I can’t even play BL2 at stable 30fps and need an overclocked plugin to reach around 40fps, but I’ll always love the Vita
Well, it's true, that that there ain't a lot of cool games, that would get people's attention cause of poor story, bad graphics and probably even gameplay. For those, who have PS VITA but still cannot find games that would interest them, here's my preferences: • Freedom Wars - one of those shooter games, I would definitely recommend! Right now, the online sucks cuz a lot of players abandoned this console. But when they didn't, the online was impressive. In fact, the online matches are so fun, even Counterstrike is just nothing comparing to it. And not only the online. The big and complicated story is also something that would attract lots of gamers. Gameplay is super addicting cause of different and unique mechanics. The interface is also kind of unique, which also can make a player get interested. You can upgrade your weapons, mnufacture them, manufacture functions, medicine, character buffs, etc. Donate resources or use them for upgrades. Saved citizens? Now, you can use them to shorten the time for your upgrades!! Definitely the game, that even PC and Androind/IOS lack! • Puyo Puyo Tetris - probably, you would say "Why Tetris is here? It is not so unique". Well, even though Puyo Puyo Tetris is now on every modern platform, it is still pretty good game for PS VITA!!! The Tetris game won't get a lot of attention. But now with Puyo Puyo Tetris, you have a new mode called Puyo Puyo, from another game franchise called Puyo Puyo, where you clear 4 or more jellybeans and make insane combos! Now you can have more improved versus matches and mix puyo puyo and tetris with 5 new modes: Fusion, Swap, Party, Big bang and traditional Versus. There's still working online, however, since a lot of players abandoned PS VITA, the online now is half dead! And another thing is that the game is ONLY on Japanese PSN, which doesn't let most of other international players play. • Uncharted: Golden Abyss - one of those games on PS VITA, which unlocks PS VITA's full potential and has spectacular graphics! • Persona 4 Golden - once it was the best game for PS VITA, now it is also the best game for PC. This game has impressive story, cool gameplay and special music! Definitely recommended game for everyone! But if you don't like bad graphics, I would not recommend it BUT, we have a special plugin to improve its resolution! • Wipeout 2048 - one of other cool graphics on PS VITA. It is incredibly fast racing game with very challenging grand prix and events. Also one of underrated ones... • Tearaway - it's one of the best PS VITA specialties • LittleBigPlanet PS VITA - also one of VITA's and Sony's overall specialties • Rayman Legends - the only game with 100000 players online There are lots of other games that I would love to share, but I am just a lazy ass to write more. And I cannot shorten the sentences cause all I wanted to share is, in my opinion, important. *Off course, I expected more of this console, but even if it failed its mission, there are still nice specialties it has*. I would thank to TheFlow, our legend who still holds PS VITA alive, and, off course, other PS VITA boys, as Silica&Pina, Xerpi, theheroGAC (team OneLUA), cuevavirus, blastrock and other big boys, who revived PS VITA from dead.
I had a ps vita and I loved it, even when I got a PS4, I still used it has a DualShock to play when some friend came to my house. Unfortunately, my house was robbed and the ps vita too, but now I'm thinking about getting a new one, but I feel like it wouldn't be the same and it hurts to think that I had one and I have to expend money to buy it again.

I know a lot of people say so, but I'll say it again: this console deserved better .Better first-party support from Sony, and better from the people who turned their noses up at it. It's still the best old-school handheld I ever had or used, by a mile, and the gigantic volume of old and new games it eventually got was amazing.
When I first mod my vita I thought that playing online is a no no, but well I eventually try it already with Freedom War and it work but sadly not many people play it much anymore, I only find 1 person playing it at the time.

I have two PS Vita Consoles, one OLED and one Slim. Additionally, one PSTV with the whitelist program. I love to play this little sucker on my 42inch plasma TV - it plays and looks incredible. All the three devices are jailbreaked, beside the fact, that I own almost every game on this systems also physically.

The user experience compared to smart phone touch screens is night and day though. Sure, a lot of stuff is emulated on smart phones too, but the smaller screen and worse controls make some games much harder to play. Haptic feedback is important.
Anyone in 2024 thats thinking of getting the ps vita to homebrew it- 100% do it. Best investment I ever made. All the ports being made by the community shows what sony could have put out on this thing if it’d just done better in sales :(

the 3ds is also pretty powerful too its what i use the most at the moment and then it hit me about the psvita and i looked into it finally. working on somehow gathering the money for a psvita bc i know for a fact this is one amazing console and now im more agreeable that the vita definetly has more power compared to the 3ds. but still i love my 3ds and its library but theres some games i want to purchace but whats the point without its console x) also nice video and good point pointing out with pkgj to each their own. as for me i would only use it for what you said in the video, more clean way instead of dumping them yourself. its why i used hshop (3ds equivalant of pkgj)
Back then I cant even use my vita as I only have one full game and having regretting that my aunt bought me a psvita(i should have asked for a better console). But now Im so proud that I still have my vita with me. I may not play those high quality 4k games but the psvita have a lot of Great games to play including all the classics. Even after years, the performance havent gone down. I love the vita, too bad sony just threw it away and abandoned like nothin.
I got a ps vita from my friend free of charge, at first I was skeptical about owning one, but then later on I started to see its capabilities, I am glad my friend gave this to me and now I am pretty sure he has regretted his decision and now this video has helped me see more things it can do. Who knows? Maybe they will come back to it and make a better version of it

I 100% agree, the touch screen just doesn’t do it for me. It feels.. actually it doesn’t. The touch screen in my opinion takes away the feel of the games. I use my iPad with a DualShock 4 controller instead
Just get a bluetooth controller or use your xbox one or ps controller and get a phone bracket that connects to your controller.. problem solved. Got mine for 5 bucks!
I got offered a ps vita very long ago, and there was only minecraft installed, i kept on saying what im going to do w it cuz ive been playing only minecraft and it got me fed up. I still have my first released vita since 2012... I occasionally play it for P4G (My solely reason buying it) It was like, the best handheld console back then, despite I played 3DS mostly, but like, VIta is just, a perfect handheld size and fancy looking. Sad it was never that supported and only so few games that really really use all the PS vita power and feature like, P4g, LBP, Uncharted, Tearway, etc. After first 2 years game stopped using vita feature like back rear etc. I should probably mod it now since no more game being sold and it is so hard now to actually get the game in my country.
You forgot that u can actually use vita to stream games from pc and u can also connect it to an android tv or a pc like a switch and play games on the big screen...combine that with ps4 controller and you get the full experience
@@krishank6381 the steps to do that are ridiculous my man... but you can start with making sure you have a pre patched switch. Then look up on RUclips how to boot it in android. From there my friend you need to download steam link on your switchdroid and run it on your pc! Switch and steam are surprisingly well built for this. My best advice go to loetech RUclips channel. He’ll teach you everything 👍🏽. Good luck
I dont think the prices will drop, i think that more systems will break, increasing the value of the ones that are left. They arent manufactured anymore so i think thats how its gonna go.
Not every phone can emulate will, some smartphones in price range of 1200$ struggle to play action PSP games with high frame rate like God of war and tekken and pretty much every game that has a car in it.
I got one and modded it straight away, it’s awesome 👏 purely because I can’t stand touch screen controls on my games, the games get shrunk down to a tiny screen to accommodate the on screen controls either side or they sit over the actual game your playing so you then block the view with your fingers!! I CANT STAND IT 😖 The PS Vita is the best solution to all my hatred and the best bonus of all is it can run GTA San Andreas perfectly and BULLY is literally just around the corner waiting to drop too ❤️👍

@@dainiergarcia5076 it’s the whole game pal + a few extra missions I think? it’s actually been ported across to the Vita from the Android mobile version so in the game settings you can max out all the graphics options and the Vita handles it no problem at all 👍 now programmers are doing stuff like porting Android to Vita things are going to get crazy good gaming wise and we will see a lot more ‘newer’ games coming out for mobile on our Vitas ❤️
A modded Vita might just be one of my favorite consoles to use, Sony killed the thing off too early. Unrelated tip for anyone trying to find one at a decent price, buy from a Japanese seller. I snagged a brand new Cosmic Red OLED Vita for $180. Only downside is that the Vita menus have Japanese controls, so O is select and X is back but in US or EUR games it'll switch them around.
@@streetz1803 Like I said, it only does it with some applications. I specifically remember when I did it O became the confirm button when I played the Ratchet and Clank collection. I just decided to leave the default bindings on after that, O being confirm and X being back at the home screen doesn't bother me since I mainly select apps with the touchscreen anyway.

Having and playing both the OG PSP and the vita shouldn’t be an argument. It’s a fact that they are both way ahead of their times thus why people didn’t buy nor appreciate those products. Imagine if the vita released the same time the Nintendo switch did…
I’m just a sucker for the Vita. It’s a great console. Only reason I would recommend it though is just the portability of physical dedicated hardware. I’m one of those people that would much rather do all my gaming on a physical console. Is there better out there? Yes. Of course there is. But it’s performance isn’t the best (comparable to switch performance honestly. It’s not terrible considering the sheer age gap of the two consoles. Nintendo really could have done more) but I mean… for me.. it’s no big deal. It does everything I like and yeah.. it chugs but it’s not to bad for me playing the games I like to play. The feel of it for me is way more comfortable than a switch and the portability ultimately trumps it as well. It fits in my pocket. I can just pause what I’m doing right then and boot right back to it at a letter time. 2000 models battery is pretty dang good. Beats out my oled Switch. And for me.. I mostly wanna play older familiar games when I’m out and about. Or just try new styles of game’s I normally wouldn’t play. For me… best console for what I need. The touch stuff is dumb though. Cool for the time.. Definitely didn’t age well. Screw Sony for dropping support for the vita and stating they are giving up the hand held game. That had so much potential.
The ps4 controller's USELESS TOUCHPAD ALSO WORKS AS THE FRONT TOUCH SCREEN. U can ACTUALLY use it and test it out on the main menu and look up how to get button remapping on here to take away the rear touchpad use and reassign it to a button on the controller. Also when you're on your psp "adrenaline" app, every ps1 game ACTUALLY REGISTERS THE BUTTONS ON THE PS4 CONTROLLER. So the R1/L1buttons and the R2/L2 Trigger buttons ARE ALL ACTIVE AS IF YOU'RE ACTUALLY PLAYING A PS1. This thing is AMAZING 🙌🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Well, it's true, that that there ain't a lot of cool games, that would get people's attention cause of poor story, bad graphics and probably even gameplay.
For those, who have PS VITA but still cannot find games that would interest them, here's my preferences:
• Freedom Wars - one of those shooter games, I would definitely recommend! Right now, the online sucks cuz a lot of players abandoned this console. But when they didn't, the online was impressive. In fact, the online matches are so fun, even Counterstrike is just nothing comparing to it. And not only the online. The big and complicated story is also something that would attract lots of gamers. Gameplay is super addicting cause of different and unique mechanics. The interface is also kind of unique, which also can make a player get interested. You can upgrade your weapons, mnufacture them, manufacture functions, medicine, character buffs, etc. Donate resources or use them for upgrades. Saved citizens? Now, you can use them to shorten the time for your upgrades!! Definitely the game, that even PC and Androind/IOS lack!
• Puyo Puyo Tetris - probably, you would say "Why Tetris is here? It is not so unique". Well, even though Puyo Puyo Tetris is now on every modern platform, it is still pretty good game for PS VITA!!! The Tetris game won't get a lot of attention. But now with Puyo Puyo Tetris, you have a new mode called Puyo Puyo, from another game franchise called Puyo Puyo, where you clear 4 or more jellybeans and make insane combos! Now you can have more improved versus matches and mix puyo puyo and tetris with 5 new modes: Fusion, Swap, Party, Big bang and traditional Versus. There's still working online, however, since a lot of players abandoned PS VITA, the online now is half dead! And another thing is that the game is ONLY on Japanese PSN, which doesn't let most of other international players play.
• Uncharted: Golden Abyss - one of those games on PS VITA, which unlocks PS VITA's full potential and has spectacular graphics!
• Persona 4 Golden - once it was the best game for PS VITA, now it is also the best game for PC. This game has impressive story, cool gameplay and special music! Definitely recommended game for everyone! But if you don't like bad graphics, I would not recommend it BUT, we have a special plugin to improve its resolution!
• Wipeout 2048 - one of other cool graphics on PS VITA. It is incredibly fast racing game with very challenging grand prix and events. Also one of underrated ones...
• Tearaway - it's one of the best PS VITA specialties
• LittleBigPlanet PS VITA - also one of VITA's and Sony's overall specialties
• Rayman Legends - the only game with 100000 players online
There are lots of other games that I would love to share, but I am just a lazy ass to write more. And I cannot shorten the sentences cause all I wanted to share is, in my opinion, important. *Off course, I expected more of this console, but even if it failed its mission, there are still nice specialties it has*. I would thank to TheFlow, our legend who still holds PS VITA alive, and, off course, other PS VITA boys, as Silica&Pina, Xerpi, theheroGAC (team OneLUA), cuevavirus, blastrock and other big boys, who revived PS VITA from dead.

Yeh only a handful of games on vita but if you consider having psp games ps1 games and even retro consoles it's a beast !
I had a ps vita and I loved it, even when I got a PS4, I still used it has a DualShock to play when some friend came to my house.
Unfortunately, my house was robbed and the ps vita too, but now I'm thinking about getting a new one, but I feel like it wouldn't be the same and it hurts to think that I had one and I have to expend money to buy it again.

Now it's possible to mod it within 20 minutes! I modded mine and it can even run dreamcast, not all games but it can run maybe a third really well
I know a lot of people say so, but I'll say it again: this console deserved better .Better first-party support from Sony, and better from the people who turned their noses up at it. It's still the best old-school handheld I ever had or used, by a mile, and the gigantic volume of old and new games it eventually got was amazing.
It needed Monster Hunter. Only thing that would have saved it IMO
When I first mod my vita I thought that playing online is a no no, but well I eventually try it already with Freedom War and it work but sadly not many people play it much anymore, I only find 1 person playing it at the time.

I have two PS Vita Consoles, one OLED and one Slim. Additionally, one PSTV with the whitelist program. I love to play this little sucker on my 42inch plasma TV - it plays and looks incredible. All the three devices are jailbreaked, beside the fact, that I own almost every game on this systems also physically.

The user experience compared to smart phone touch screens is night and day though. Sure, a lot of stuff is emulated on smart phones too, but the smaller screen and worse controls make some games much harder to play. Haptic feedback is important.

the 3ds is also pretty powerful too its what i use the most at the moment and then it hit me about the psvita and i looked into it finally. working on somehow gathering the money for a psvita bc i know for a fact this is one amazing console and now im more agreeable that the vita definetly has more power compared to the 3ds. but still i love my 3ds and its library but theres some games i want to purchace but whats the point without its console x)
also nice video and good point pointing out with pkgj to each their own. as for me i would only use it for what you said in the video, more clean way instead of dumping them yourself. its why i used hshop (3ds equivalant of pkgj)

Back then I cant even use my vita as I only have one full game and having regretting that my aunt bought me a psvita(i should have asked for a better console). But now Im so proud that I still have my vita with me. I may not play those high quality 4k games but the psvita have a lot of Great games to play including all the classics. Even after years, the performance havent gone down. I love the vita, too bad sony just threw it away and abandoned like nothin.

I got a ps vita from my friend free of charge, at first I was skeptical about owning one, but then later on I started to see its capabilities, I am glad my friend gave this to me and now I am pretty sure he has regretted his decision and now this video has helped me see more things it can do. Who knows? Maybe they will come back to it and make a better version of it

There are ways to connect a Vita to a PC display but in order to get output to a TV you would be better suiting owning a PSTV

I 100% agree, the touch screen just doesn’t do it for me. It feels.. actually it doesn’t. The touch screen in my opinion takes away the feel of the games. I use my iPad with a DualShock 4 controller instead

Just get a bluetooth controller or use your xbox one or ps controller and get a phone bracket that connects to your controller.. problem solved. Got mine for 5 bucks!

I still have my first released vita since 2012... I occasionally play it for P4G (My solely reason buying it) It was like, the best handheld console back then, despite I played 3DS mostly, but like, VIta is just, a perfect handheld size and fancy looking. Sad it was never that supported and only so few games that really really use all the PS vita power and feature like, P4g, LBP, Uncharted, Tearway, etc. After first 2 years game stopped using vita feature like back rear etc.
I should probably mod it now since no more game being sold and it is so hard now to actually get the game in my country.

You forgot that u can actually use vita to stream games from pc and u can also connect it to an android tv or a pc like a switch and play games on the big screen...combine that with ps4 controller and you get the full experience

As a modder myself. I figured out how to reliably use my nintendo switch to play any pc game or emulator and it’s awesome 👍🏽

@@krishank6381 the steps to do that are ridiculous my man... but you can start with making sure you have a pre patched switch. Then look up on RUclips how to boot it in android. From there my friend you need to download steam link on your switchdroid and run it on your pc! Switch and steam are surprisingly well built for this. My best advice go to loetech RUclips channel. He’ll teach you everything 👍🏽. Good luck

Not every phone can emulate will, some smartphones in price range of 1200$ struggle to play action PSP games with high frame rate like God of war and tekken and pretty much every game that has a car in it.

purely because I can’t stand touch screen controls on my games, the games get shrunk down to a tiny screen to accommodate the on screen controls either side or they sit over the actual game your playing so you then block the view with your fingers!! I CANT STAND IT 😖

@@dainiergarcia5076 it’s the whole game pal + a few extra missions I think? it’s actually been ported across to the Vita from the Android mobile version so in the game settings you can max out all the graphics options and the Vita handles it no problem at all 👍 now programmers are doing stuff like porting Android to Vita things are going to get crazy good gaming wise and we will see a lot more ‘newer’ games coming out for mobile on our Vitas ❤️

A modded Vita might just be one of my favorite consoles to use, Sony killed the thing off too early.
Unrelated tip for anyone trying to find one at a decent price, buy from a Japanese seller. I snagged a brand new Cosmic Red OLED Vita for $180. Only downside is that the Vita menus have Japanese controls, so O is select and X is back but in US or EUR games it'll switch them around.
I bought a black one with red back from Japan. And Remapped the 0 & x button in system settings :)
@@streetz1803 I wouldn't advise remapping them that way, it remaps them globally which can cause issues with those buttons in some applications.

@@streetz1803 Like I said, it only does it with some applications. I specifically remember when I did it O became the confirm button when I played the Ratchet and Clank collection.
I just decided to leave the default bindings on after that, O being confirm and X being back at the home screen doesn't bother me since I mainly select apps with the touchscreen anyway.

I’m just a sucker for the Vita. It’s a great console. Only reason I would recommend it though is just the portability of physical dedicated hardware. I’m one of those people that would much rather do all my gaming on a physical console. Is there better out there? Yes. Of course there is. But it’s performance isn’t the best (comparable to switch performance honestly. It’s not terrible considering the sheer age gap of the two consoles. Nintendo really could have done more) but I mean… for me.. it’s no big deal. It does everything I like and yeah.. it chugs but it’s not to bad for me playing the games I like to play. The feel of it for me is way more comfortable than a switch and the portability ultimately trumps it as well. It fits in my pocket. I can just pause what I’m doing right then and boot right back to it at a letter time. 2000 models battery is pretty dang good. Beats out my oled Switch. And for me.. I mostly wanna play older familiar games when I’m out and about. Or just try new styles of game’s I normally wouldn’t play. For me… best console for what I need. The touch stuff is dumb though. Cool for the time.. Definitely didn’t age well. Screw Sony for dropping support for the vita and stating they are giving up the hand held game. That had so much potential.

PS Vita is my go to over my oled switch. I use my old note10+ with a Razer Kishi controller. Everything from retro games to AAA games.
The ps4 controller's USELESS TOUCHPAD ALSO WORKS AS THE FRONT TOUCH SCREEN. U can ACTUALLY use it and test it out on the main menu and look up how to get button remapping on here to take away the rear touchpad use and reassign it to a button on the controller. Also when you're on your psp "adrenaline" app, every ps1 game ACTUALLY REGISTERS THE BUTTONS ON THE PS4 CONTROLLER. So the R1/L1buttons and the R2/L2 Trigger buttons ARE ALL ACTIVE AS IF YOU'RE ACTUALLY PLAYING A PS1. This thing is AMAZING 🙌🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
