It’s easy to say that you wouldn’t fall for it when you go into it knowing it’s fake. He went into the situation with the mindset that it was just another day in reality. Also people tend to believe the simplest explanations because they tend to be true, it’s more likely that he just forgot something than that someone has for some reason set up a situation with the sole purpose of messing with him. (Ignoring the fact that in this case that’s what actually happened lol)

I really don't get why anyone would think this is fake. This is standard gaslighting. It's a well-documented method of emotional abuse and manipulation, and many, many, many people fall victim to it all the time. It's a common tactic in workplaces, relationships, etc. It's really hard to notice and it's one of the main reasons toxic relationships and environments are so hard to escape.

Whenever they auditioned to be on a Derren Brown show, I'm sure they signed a waiver stating that they could be chosen for a show at any time - even if it's not revealed to them until afterwards. Then the participant has to sign a second waiver to allow Derren to release the footage. I know someone who was on a hidden-camera TV show once and they told me about it.

It all keeps me thinking of when I was in a home equipment shop two days ago, and a plate just rolled off a shelf by itself and broke on the floor super close to where I was standing looking at some kitchen gloves. I was standing there in shock, another woman from further away told the shop assistant it just rolled off by itself, and the assistant looked directly at me and said "it did?". Before that I was expecting her to apologise, but her implying it was my fault made me feel guilty all to the end of my visit, even during my later purchase of something else I was expecting her to bring it up again and preparing myself thinking of ways to convincingly tell her it was not me, at the same time kind of getting ready to have to ask for camera recordings or even thinking how much it would be to pay for - even though I was completely innocent!! I need to grow thicker skin.

Really good acting by everyone though, well done stunt. If someone can be manipulated to this extent, it further illustrates how effective the manipulations that are used on all of us by the media, politics and advertising must be. The subconscious is a powerful thing and big money is spent to ensure we want/think/do what others want us to. Scary.

It's a bit off because I didn't buy the whole cinematic funeral procession thing while they were carrying him out to wake up in the grounds in the morning either lol but then I thought that maybe they could've done that part afterwards just to get a good shot. But, either way, how could they take off the blankets, all lift him awkwardly, carrying him down a bunch of stairs, etc etc etc....I suppose if he was super toasted drunk the night before it could be possible, we've done pranks on friends that have passed out at parties in the past and such...but that seemed way too much and far beyond the markers on the face and that kind of stuff we'd do lol but I'd imagine there are limits and liability factors so he couldn't have been able to get too drunk.

They said they made a backround check to see if he mentally stable enough. I think things like that actually do work better on healthy people, because someone who suffers from mental illness (e.g. anxiety disorder) is probably more cautious... they might not react with guilt when touched, but are distracted by a feeling of fear. They might not be able to instantly connect to new people, they are less likely to relax and fall into very deep sleep etc. So I don't say this applies to everyone with anxiety disorder, but to some it might.
