Great video content! Sorry for butting in, I would love your thoughts. Have you heard the talk about - Rozardner Inspiring Chord Reality (should be on google have a look)? It is an awesome exclusive product for how to play guitar scales without the hard work. Ive heard some awesome things about it and my buddy finally got great results with it.
@swiftlessons Great Video! Sorry for chiming in, I would love your initial thoughts. Have you considered - Rozardner Inspiring Chord Reality (erm, check it on google should be there)? It is a smashing one off product for how to play guitar scales minus the headache. Ive heard some decent things about it and my BF after a lifetime of fighting got amazing success with it.
I'm only at the 7 minute mark and I've already picked up so much more musical techniques. I personally have always had trouble learning scales for some reason, so what I like to do is I slowly work my way up the fretboard, I improvise with the parts of the scale that I'm getting and expand upon it as I get familiar with the rest of the scale. This technique is a lot of fun, and personally makes learning scales for me feel less tedious since I'm teaching myself how to apply it to my style as I'm learning the scale. I hope this helps anyone else jamming along to this video! The addition of the backing tracks is a great touch
Wow, I got tired of just minor pentatonic and started adding in notes I thought sounded good. And This video just showed me I was playing the natural minor scale. Thanks man! I'm also gonna make sure to learn the other 2 scales.
I love all the ads for guitar lessons on youtube which tell you that guitar lessons on youtube do not work so you should buy their lessons on youtube. That makes sense if you look at it upside down in a mirror, which is how I practice scales.
Well Swifty, just found this and what a great lesson on these minor scales. Your lessons are always very easy to comprehend, well explained, and demonstrated. I have tried a few other videos on RUclips and got lost as some explanations were pretty vague but this is great. Thank you.
This was Fantastic. I subscribed. You did a phenomenal job explaining this (slowly & clearly with performance chord/riff samples). Really appreciate it. oNe LovE from NYC
Great lesson! I theoretical always like to start with the natural minor. Because it is easy to understand that is has the same notes like the parallel major chord. From this position sharpening the 7 gets the harmonic minor and sharpening also the 6 you have the melodic minor, which is only one note away from the major scale. That were my thoughts about it. But I never new what to do with it. Now I know! Thanks a lot!
+chocolat4hogs you're very welcome! This stuff is pretty easy to get down, and implement into your leads. Just thinking of the chord shapes to find the best notes.
thank you for all of your uploaded lesson my friend. or i should call you teacher from now on 😂😂 its really good how you explained the lesson. keep it up mate!
Hey Gary, I'm not sure if I understand the question. But all of my lessons can be found by using the search tab at the top of my channel page. Thanks so much. -Rob
What key is this in? Am is the relative minor to C major but has not sharps of flats. F# and C# would be key of D major and the relative minor to D major is B minor, so for me to completely understand this could you let us know the key please. Otherwise FANTASTIC VIDEO!! THANK YOU!!
Hey Derek, looks like you’re on the right track. To answer you’re question, we are not limited to the notes that exist in the major or natural minor scales - every scale can be made into a chord progression, including the harmonic minor scale that includes G#, the note that is found in the chord Emai, which is used in the key of Am very often. Take note of that, the harmonic minor scale sounds amazing over chord progressions in the key of Am that include Emaj.
1) A player of a different instrument wants to know what notes you’re playing. 2) you want to read or write in musical notation. 3) you’re using the scales to figure out which chords are in a key. 4) you’re using your fretboard to work out vocal harmonies and need to know which notes to assign to whom. 5) you want the ability to play scales in various positions. For example I know that the natural minor scale in A has no sharps and flats, so if I know the positions of all my naturals I can play that scale up and down the fretboard. It basically just allows you to perform at a higher level, understand music theory and communicate musical ideas.
I agree 💯👍. He should teach at a teaching pace. Let it be an example of an actual learning experience! If the aim is to sell a PDF file, then it would be useless as many free guitar manuals are available.
Kudos for the video content! Forgive me for chiming in, I would love your thoughts. Have you ever tried - Rozardner Inspiring Chord Reality (Sure I saw it on Google)? It is a good one of a kind guide for how to play guitar scales minus the headache. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my best friend Jordan at last got cool success with it.
Honestly, I believe that the speed at which you are going makes it purposely difficult to follow your style! I'll see this video as not beneficial to me. There are still 3 types of minor scales!
Thanks to my supporters for making these lessons possible. Help yourself to my comprehensive PDF study guide at: goo.gl/WXFmzJ
Thanks for a great tutorial

Angelo Alcazar I think it goes outside the typical church modes.
2:13 what scale is its?
Thank you sa much,sir.
Can someone explain to me why I should learn the names of the notes if im just gonna be moving the scale up and down the neck
1) A player of a different instrument wants to know what notes you’re playing.
2) you want to read or write in musical notation.
3) you’re using the scales to figure out which chords are in a key.
4) you’re using your fretboard to work out vocal harmonies and need to know which notes to assign to whom.
