For me it was sharks, specifically great white sharks. Now as an adult it's things like mortgages, property taxes, inflation and interest rate hikes that spook me.

In the movie though they acted like they were "envenomated"....they even had a scene where the "venom" was clotting in the guys neck....I didn't take the movie seriously after that scene cause boas aren't venomous....then there's a scene where it was constricting her....they should've done some snake research before making this film

Quicksand has a density of about 2 grams per cubic centimeter, whereas the density of the human body is only about 1 gram per cubic centimeter. At that level of density, sinking beyond about waist height in quicksand is impossible.
There's a lot of data out there on the subject, most of it says that no, you can't be fully submerged, but that doesn't mean you can't get smothered or suffocate, and you can definitely get stuck and trapped. I haven't seen the movie yet, so who knows, they might actually address the myths vs facts.

Clay like mud? yeah thats harder and depends on fluidity, but if its so liquid that you can sink that far its just as easy to get out. Peat/Organic mud? Same story, but due to lower density its easier to sink deeper in it than Clay. Still if its so liquid you sink super deep immediately you can easily get out of it too just by instinct. all in all.. no you cant drown in mud or quicksand by itself unless you really try. Most likely you will only get stuck in it and even for that theres a way out most of the time.
