Interesting that you mentioned Kimberly Williams being good at basketball because she played with her father while growing up, because in this interview she says she'd never played before the film shoot: ruclips.net/video/45h0Dt9WZng/видео.html
You're right! Thanks for pointing that out. I went back to the audio commentary and found out that I had made an error. It was his ex-wife/co-director Nancy, not Kimberly, that played ball with her dad all the time, which was the inspiration behind the inclusion of a father-daughter bond over the sport.

The final product turned out delightful. This movie is a real gem. I think George’s monologues were effective and appropriate. I also appreciate the musical score in which you really hear the piano.
I absolutely adore this movie and it’s sequel. The cast is the best and Kimberly was an excellent choice despite being her first film. She was fantastic. I watch both movies often. ❤️
Bonus fact - the extra to Diane Keaton's right at 4.51 is Kimberley Williams' real life mother. She's standing next to Nina in that nice scene where George finally makes it into the marquee & looks at each family member individually. The one where "Just The Way You Look Tonight" plays.
Here is another piece of trivia for you about Father of the Bride ('91). Actress Cindy Williams aka Shirley of Laverne & Shirley owns the film rights to the book the movie was based on. She purchased the film rights while she worked on her iconic sitcom in the late 1970s and knew it was only a matter of time before Hollywood would want to remake the movie.
*BD WONG is great in it too! ... This was one of the first gay friends couple movies I recall that didn’t draw attention to it. Short had his own sidekick which gave value to both characters that they were just that... characters 🚫not stereotypes🚫* _which at the time seemed like something new._ *Props to the writers/actors.*
Wow! What a coincidence! Just a few seconds ago I just finished watching this movie in my house here in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Then I turned on RUclips and see this channel! I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. This channel is just the dessert served after I watched the movie seconds ago! Haha!
@@FunFactFilms I watched the movie from an old CD that I bought years ago, after buying a new TV to replace my old broken one. I chose 'Father of the Bride' as my first movie to watch on the new TV! Then your channel appeared on RUclips menu right after I watched the movie! Haha!
Right?? Interesting that in the BBQ scene, George says “what did you have in mind, the Beverly Hills Hotel?” Ironically, that probably would have cost less. 🤷🏻♀️
Wow I don't want to get married but if I found the right guy I would not spend anywhere near that much on a party I would do what my brother did have a small cheep wedding and spend the rest of the money on a great honeymoon
@@y.peffle2802 yep that's the smart thing to do a expensive party is nice won't do anyone any good if you don't have the money for a decent home because of the expensive party did you guys have a nice house warming party

Just as sweet & sentimental as the original(s) . What a way to help the charity. And oh that music , can't believe it's been 25 years !!

No way that family would have paid $68K for her wedding dress.

Geez expensive wedding. Didn't Annie say she didn't want a too big wedding. Lol
250, 000 dollars for a wedding is insane! I wonder if whoever figured out the price was thinking in terms of today's dollars and not 1991 prices.
@@TheNameisPlissken1981 Believe it or not no. $250 x 572 guests is $143k just on catering + the other expenses. That’s $332.5K+ today 😭
