Finally! My eternal quest of figuring out a Mobile Suit's controls will be completed. I always figured the best analogue to a Mobile Suit's controls was that of either a helicopter or a quadcopter.
The dash and control layout looks exactly like the Gundam. Amazing job there. The monitor designs don't look like the RX-78 but it has been a while. Hope to see the completed project. Especially how the targeting scope looks like.
Good call out, I changed the monitors a bit to add better visibility. Otherwise, I tried my best to make the cockpit as close to the real thing as I could, with some interpretation of course.
I think the controls are pretty obvious. Foot petals for legs, hand sticks for arms. The suit scans your brain activity to understand what you want it to do while you give general instructions with the physical controls. There are times that reference has been made to things that imply a neural connection between pilot and suit. And I know there is an AI aspect as there are mobile suits whose improved AI is listed as a feature. Probably as a sort of subconsciousness for the suit.

we need Mobile Suit Gundam: Bonds of the Battlefield on HTC vive or psvr, either one would be fine but a pc pod mobile suit simulator would be a dream come true.

Trust me, I think about this every day. It's so close to being done right now! Making a video like this is an extremely huge undertaking. I'm only one person! Sometimes two at best. Please be patient, I've been working on this like an absurd amount for a really long time. I promise it will be worth it!

Select a limb down its joint chain and using the lever to “swing” the leg using a manual operation. The Mobile suit’s balancers will attempt to keep the unit from falling over or losing its heading, so it will recover automatically after you’ve operated the leg to perform the kick. You can get a sense of how where the select points can be chosen for manual lever operation by Google image searching “FK leg control” and you’ll see spherical points on the hip, knee, and ankle. You’d have to quickly switch the control operations down from the full unit, to just the leg in order to swing it manually, just at the right time, but a very skilled pilot could use that at a perfectly opportune moment, hence why it’s something that Char himself is exclusively shown doing. The narrative significance of this is profound as well, given that the extent of the controls basically just changes the heading direction and speed of a mobile suit, meaning that someone like Char has mastered the operation of the machine he uses so fully, that he’s able to switch from general controls to granular one’s in a split second in order to perform a kick. It demonstrates the extremely wide gap in skill between a normal mobile suit pilot, and a skilled ace, who’s also a newtype.
