AWWW Thank you Angel!!! We miss you guys too, SO MUCH! So sad that we missed the get-together at your house last weekend! But we'll be back before you know it and we'll all get together!!! :-)
Thank you so much for helping us with our views and ratings! We are NOT in this for the money, but appreciate the help getting the Looper word out! Thanks as always for your kind words! :-)
Loved you video. We have also taken the architectural tour of downtown Chicago and would recommend it highly. I used to live in Chicago so it was a way to see it from a totally different perspective. Can’t wait to do it on my own boat. Thank you so much.
Hello, and thank you so much for your kind words! You are right, it's a different perspective - so cool from the waterways! In fact, that is a good way to also describe the Loop - such a different perspective than a car trip might be! Enjoy your future boat travels!!! :-)
I’m so glad you loved Chicago - I’ve lived here for 60 years and seeing the skyline brings a smile to my face. Every. Time! I can see it from one vantage point in the suburbs where I live! I enjoy your videos so much and will soon be missing them. Can’t wait to see your journey through IL, KY and onward! I hope you love Lake Barkley and KY Lake as much as we do and that you’ll be staying at Green Turtle Bay - it’s the best! And, of course, shop and have dinner at Patti’s! Question for Lisa - Do you ever drive the boat? Have you seen women in the captain’s seat during your journey? I am the captain of our 27’ boat (much smaller than yours!) and I don’t mind letting my husband enjoy the scenery. I admire you both for taking on this adventure!! Safe travels! 😊
Hi Jenna!!! OMG yes Chicago is amazing and I could just look at it every day - going downtown was a DREAM! Thanks for your continued kind words! We are LOVING this part of our trip! and we are very much looking forward to GTB soon! To answer your question - YES I do take the captains seat daily, I relieve Chris for a bit when he needs a break. YES there is a solo female looper, Michelle, and I know a few other women who captain on occasion! Good for you for being captain - I am impressed!!! Thanks so much as always for watching! ;-)
Been following you guys along your journey.. perfectly named boat. Kewl Beans prayers and safe travels from The Northwoods of Wisconsin 👋 Go Badgers! Go Pack Go🎉 and BELATED HAPPY BIRTHDAY 🎂 🥳 🎉 🎈 🎁
Thank you so much for your kind words! Really appreciate it and we also appreciate the prayers! All Loopers need them! and Thanks for the birthday wishes, it was one of the best ones I have had in a long time! :-) Thanks for watching!
Hi there Cetus! Thanks so much for watching - and I enjoyed your latest video too! Really beautiful sunrises and sunsets that you captured! I hope you enjoy Hammond, will you be going to Chicago? We enjoyed it so much! :-)
@@coolbeansloop2024 we planned on visiting Chicago Tuesday. North wind started blowing and forecast at 30 knots. We weren’t able to stay on the dock in Hammond. The finger pier with two cleats couldn’t hold our boat in 20 knots and dangerously close to the boat next to us. The decision was made to headed to the Calumet River and say goodbye to Lake Michigan
What a fantastic time-lapse trip through downtown Chicago!!! Just amazing to be able to do it on your own boat, and looks like your timing was ideal since you didn’t encounter traffic. Cross that one off of the bucket list!! ✅ One of the things I’ve enjoyed watching zillions of looper videos is the beauty of the rivers - I’d always imagined they’d just be muddy, industrial ditches, and it seems there are areas like that, but so much of the river portion is really breathtaking.
Hey Kari!!! Thank you for the kind words! We had an amazing time, and we timed it right thanks to our friends on 80's Lady, who suggested during the week was better than the weekend! Bucket list check for sure! And let me tell you - this Illinois River has been AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL! I am so pleasantly surprised and humbled because I thought it would be heavily industrialized also! It's not - wait til next week's video!!! :-)
OHHH Thank you Leslie Gail! It's definitely refreshing to not have to go to the salon every 4-6 weeks for a touch up! Haha! We'll see what I look like when we get home! :-)
Hello! We did enjoy Joliet even if it was for one night! Beautiful town and gorgeous moon that night! Thank you so much for the kind words and we really appreciate you watching! :-)
We live in the Chicago suburbs. Went from big bason marina and stayed overnight at dusabo harbor. If you would have taken a short detor and made a right instead of a left at the t in the Chicago river you could have gone up and toured goose island brewery. There is a west marine store on the river you can tie up at
One of my bucket list items is going through downtown Chicago on the water at night. I think the city would look completely different lit up. I live by Alton Illinois, hit me up if you need anything.
Oh I can imagine at night, how amazing it will be! Yes it would look so different lit up! We enjoyed it in the morning with the sun reflecting off of the buildings, but at night, it would look like an amazing movie! Thanks for your offer that is very kind of you! and thanks for watching! :-)
@@coolbeansloop2024 I’m building a boat I designed for that trip. I will row it standing up. It also has a small cabin for me and Kei (my cat) to sleep.
Enjoy your videos immensely. There is another place you can go under a bridge with cars above you and trains above that, The Broadway Bridge over the Harlem River in NYC. I am sure there are others. Thank you for your fine videos.
Haha, you are so right! I'm sure there are others too - it was just a neat thought to be traveling BELOW the cars and trains! Appreciate you watching!! :-)
Hello there! Thanks, and yes, sadly many boats are not able to take that route. We actually had the air draft in mind when we bought the boat because we knew we wanted to go through downtown. I know it's not always feasible so we felt very blessed. Thank you so much for watching! :-)
Thank you so much! We are not in the path, but do expect some weather this weekend, mainly rain. That, we can handle, because we'll be at a marina! We send our thoughts and prayers to all affected. Thanks for watching! :-)
Hey Craig, well every area is different but in Illinois at anchor it's been pretty tame, mostly a few mosquitos! But we STILL have spiders EVERY WHERE ON THIS BOAT! We all do - they are hitching a free ride down to the gulf, I guess??? We have anchored twice this week and it's been amazing! LOVING IT!
Hello, the Fall Rendezvous is at Joe Wheeler State Park, Oct 21-24. I think it's sold out but you can get on the waiting list! Thanks for watching! :-)
Well, you know I have to defend him... he is a very happy and likeable person, he just doesn't always like his picture taken all the time! He loved Chicago and is loving the Loop! Thanks for watching!
The Illinois River starts at the junction of the DesPlaines and Kankakee River. The Chicago River turns into the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal then the DesPlaines River. It’s confusing.
So what is the hut @ 9:40 do ? I can only imagine what taking your pic at The Bean was like ! I’ve never gotten to go to Chicago so the Cancer survivors park was a pleasant visual experience. Wifey is a survivor ( before we met & her 1st husband was an agent orange victim ) . Also one of my coworkers is fighting it now ! God blesses those who fight this evil disease !
Hello! So the hut is a DUCK BLIND! We thought it was cool to see! Yes the Bean was so neat, we loved it! I'm so glad your wife survived cancer! We have many survivors in our family, and sadly we have lost several family members to cancer. It is a beautiful little park and we were happy to have seen it. Thanks so much for your continued support of our little channel! :-)
Loved the trip through Chicago from the water, gorgeous! Happy birthday to you, my friend we miss you!

I enjoyed your video of going thru Chicago. Most of the looper blogs I’ve followed have taken the Cal-Sag, which is what I had to do on my loop.

Not sure where you guys are, but hoping you're not in the path of the approaching storm. Stay safe, guys.

You talked about the spiders early on. Curious about bugs, mosquitoes, & gnats; what is it like, especially at anchor?

Hey Chris are you excited about Chicago, nah I scheduled a root canal instead.
