There are some freaks out there Lol 😂
I think I may be one of them!
You speak like Bob Ross I like that, simple and understandable
Rikards Matvajs literally just commented this and saw your post after. 😂
I'm blushing over here!!
I have just found your channel and I am very impressed with your skill using cheap gear. I have 3 YN685 flashes and was thinking I needed studio strobes but after watching your videos I realise I don't need them. Very good tutorials well done. I really like the way you work from what looks like a light stand with perspex fastened to it. Working at a higher level makes life a lot easier.
Thanks for your kind words Martin. I agree the stand makes things a lot easier -- thanks for watching!
Was it important for the shot that the sparkling water was cold? Just wondering if the effect would have been cleaner without the condensation on the glass. (I know, I know - try it myself and see)
This one was amazing, as always ! Really liked how it turned out.
Thanks dude! I liked the result a lot for such a simple setup
Great effort again. Time for you to go Pro.. What lens are you using?
9:19 look at the end. ;)
Never enjoyed a channel that much! Huge thanks for that knowledge and putting so much effort on teaching and sharing 🙏
Moustapha, thank you so much it's my pleasure!
RUclips is so inconsistent. I got notification on my phone but not on my desktop. Probably a gender thing. However... I did learn from this vid. Thank you.
C'mon RUclips! Haha, thanks Gerard!
Niffty raining day/ Covid project. Thanks
Hey man, I've been watching thru all your videos, great work! A lot of people might think that product photography is easy after watching your videos, but i think without solid knowledge and experience, you can't not make this look this easy at all. You are a master of still life photography, Thanks for sharing all these!
Miou Li, thanks so much! I love product photography and still life, and am always learning -- I appreciate your kind words good sir! Please do subscribe and tune in for more (-:
Excellent, Dustin. Thanks for the detailed Photoshop information.
Thank-you so much for your support David, it's a passion!
You are the Bob Ross of product photography. Great video.
So honored, thank-you!!
Hi Dustin, I notice that you are using 85mm f1.8. May I know how you get the shoot so sharp? What is the aperture value that you used? Where is the focus point? Sorry, as I am still new to the product photography. Thanks.
Willy Wong, I actually used a kit lens here! 18-105mm at f/11 Here. A lot of the effect comes down to lighting and getting everything to jump off the black stark background, even a kit lens will look good! ✌😎
I'm planning to get the stripbox and stripbox speedlight adapter that you listed and, of course, using your links. Just curious, the stripbox comes with a Bowens speedring. Do I still need to buy the stripbox speedlight adapter? My setup is an A7R2 and Godox v860ii. My goal for now is to do product photography to build a portfolio. Thank you very much for this video.
Hey there! I had the same question when I purchased. Yes, the stripbox comes with the speedring -- and yes you need the speedlight adapter (this attached speedlight to the bowens ring) -- thanks for tuning in to our tutorials!
Great video as always man
Thanks Ben, have a great day man!
Great video, Dustin. As with all the others! May I ask how you are mounting the plexiglass to the stand? I can't see an attachment so not sure if you're just balancing it on there or maybe it's glued on?
it's just a 3/4-20 threaded nut stuck to the bottom
Hey there Terry, we actually make this product now: workphlo.shop/s
What camera are you using? I am looking to upgrade from an old d60.
It's at the end. Nikon D7000 camera with an AF-S Nikkor 18-105 lens.
Thanks, Rob! And thanks for tuning in as well Anas!
I searched for it in the description area alongside the other gear and tought you didnt mention it at all.
True, actually - I felt weird linking to a place to purchase a D7000, since if I bought a camera now it wouldn't be that model! (-:
Hi Dustin,
I've been doing low key shoots for a couple of months now and first tried to replicate something similar like this video. I'm having issues with the speedlight positions. I'm using 2, 24" x 36" softboxes along with the speedlights. I have the close to the glass (12"), slightly behind and angled away. When I pour in the sparkling water I am getting a different result as when I initially set everything up. I have a crisp edge, but a very large reflection of the softbox on the other side of the glass. Did you have this issue as well after the dry setup? Do you remember the position of your light source was in relation to the glass?
Thanks in advance Dustin.
Cheers!
Hard to say exactly the solution - but if the sparkling bubbles are too bright considering lowering their exposure via a brush in Camera Raw or Photoshop to balance it out. If you see big unwanted highlights in your glass, it may be the refraction of the lights being in a position too close to the glass. Hopefully you sorted it out! Cheers
Love your videos. Keep up the great work!
I like that username! Thanks for watching our product photography tutorials :)
Thanks for making some really fast moving and comprehensive tutorials. I've watched a whole bunch now and I did notice you only photograph hard, shiny objects. Is that a thing for you?
Glossy subjects are beautiful and can be trickier, as matte subjects diffuse light upon contact - so that must be something to do with it! In reality a lot of our clients have glossy subjects as I think they can be trickier, and that naturally lends them to reach out to us and gain us experience with similar products. Cheers
I'm a beginner to photography and I'd like to pursue product photography, I don't know where to start from could you please help me with that??
Start by subscribing! Lol, but really I'd start by nailing down a solid portfolio. Learn stuff on the internet for free (-:
Simple enough and amazing!
Thanks for this, learning myself to be better product photographer!
Love hearing that! Thanks for watching our tutorial
Hoi Dustin, thank you for the beautiful tutorial. I want to learn as much as possible about product photography, drinks and beer. I practice a lot, but it's nice when there are instructive tutorials to watch. and you explain it clearly. My compliments. Greetings from Tonny
So happy to hear that Thanks!
Great tutorial! Not sure if anyone else mentioned it but just a tip if you want to capture more bubbles in-camera, you can add a small pinch of white sugar to temporarily add lots of fizz. :) One of my clients is a sparkling cava brand so I got to see how prop stylists used little hacks to make beverages look their best.
That's a great idea! Thanks for the tip Frankie
Thanks for another informative tutorial. I have often wondered how you get your glasses so clean and free of dust? I've had a devil of a time getting mine free of all debris and suitable for photos.
No prob Bob! I linked a cleaning kit in the description -- I often use the dust blower before vital exposures. On top of that, I try not to touch the glass once it's relatively clean, of course some dust is just floating in the air and needs cloned out in Photoshop! I also under expose the image, to the point where only a really significant piece of dust will even show up. Best of luck and thanks for watching our tutorial!
Thank you your videos are really helpful. You do a nice job explaining concepts so I enjoy learning from you. I'm looking to photograph glass objects that I make such as stained glass, fused glass or flameworked glass. Tricky stuff to photograph.
Cheers! Look out for more soon
How did setup your Product stand where can I get one
Kim Hunter Metal plate with tig welded nut on the bottom centre. Try searching for a ''Wall Plate"
That was quite crafty.
Thank-you! I really enjoyed this video production
That’s just greaaat ! 👍
Thank you again DD, a simple expatiation on how to adjust the edge highlights. Love it.
Greg C CHEERS Greg!
great stuff great ideas and motovation in putting an image together in pieces rather than attempting to do it all in camera which would take more equipment, time and patience
Yes, it is fun approaching it from each way. I like digital solutions at times for that very reason. Cheers
Upload more classes on skillshare, please. I really loved your lipstick tutorial.
Thank you for following us on Skillshare Harsh Jotwani! I really appreciate it. More soon!
It would help us out so much if you left a positive review for the class: www.skillshare.com/classes/Cosmetic-Product-Photography-2-Light-Approach-with-Entry-Level-Gear/160018298/reviews
Ok
@@harshitjotwani7604 Thanks in advance!
This is really helpful. Can I ask what the little perspex square thing is called that the glass is on? I need to get one of those.
Hi Heather! We sell them at our site workphlo.shop we often use the 10" x 8" acrylic sheet, with the steel support plate. Best of luck!

I'm enjoying these a lot. Thanks.
Thanks! Make sure to check out our most recent video on cosmetic photography compositing
I'm going to go ahead and just
Did I say that a lot? lol
Nice, will try that.
Thanks for the comment 🍷
Nice tutorials! Just wondering is this how you make your living?
Yes :)
been discovering some of your videos lately as an aspiring product photographer, and Ontario-an expatriat (yeah that accent ain't fooling no one bud) really loving the tutorials, concise, explorative and to the point. Keep up the awesome work.
Bud love the comment, thank you
Excellent presentation
Great! Again, thumbs up👍. No offense, do you know or ever learnt from Alex Kolokskov? Maybe this type of shooting comes in similarity...with u giving more of post production. Anyways, I have learnt a lot from both of u. Keep going, please. 😊
BTW, I always spend lots time to twist stripbox to thin out ugly inner reflection...u make it look so easy.
Thank-you very much Hongs! Yes I know Alex, wonderful dude!
I have so many questions haha. Hoping i can get ahold of you!
